Finally I get to light the stove! Update: Apparently what I experienced is quite common. The first time the stove is lit too much diesel can enter the burn chamber and cause the stove to get very hot. The stoves are designed to handle this heat. Dang the varnisher's back, as are the electricians. The sparkies have finally installed the LED dimmer switch and it looks good. Dang is preparing the boat for its last coat of varnishing whilst I remove the old stuffing box in preparation for the new PSS Dripless Seal. ¡La Outremer Cup 2014 es nuestra! Como auténticos niños hemos disfrutado en la Outremer Cup 2014 celebrada en La Grande Motte del 8 al 11 de mayo en la Bahía de Aïgues-Mortes de esta ciudad que se ha convertido en un punto de encuentro dentro del mundo multicasco. Una quincena de catamaranes del astillero Outremer se dieron cita en este certamen que reunió a los modelos destacados de la firma: Outremer 49, Outremer 51 y la estrella del momento: el Outremer 5X "Ansias", cuya velocidad fue inalcanzable para el resto de participantes. Y es que el Outremer 5X se ha erigido como el ganador indiscutible de las regatas realizadas durante los 4 días de celebración. Como curiosidad, en uno de los recorridos efectuados, el "Ansias" navegó durante unas millas fuera del ruta oficial, ocasionando un leve retraso en su carrera. Ni siquiera este percance evitó que el catamarán de construcción francesa y alma española ganara la regata del día. The 2014 Outremer Cup is ours! We thoroughly enjoyed the 2014 Outremer Cup held in La Grand Motte from 8th to 11th May, at the Aïgues-Mortes Bay, a must-go meeting point for the multihull world. More than a dozen catamarans belonging to the Outremer fleet met at this event, which included the most outstanding models of the brand: Outremer 49, Outmere 51 and the current star 'Outremer 5X Ansias', whose speed was unbeaten by any of the other participants. Outremer 5X became the uncontestable winner of the regattas held in the four-day event. We should mention, as an anecdote, that the 'Ansias' vessel sailed off-course the official route, which resulted in a slight delay in her racing time. Not even such a misfortune prevented the French-built catamaran with a Spanish soul to come first on the first-day regatta.

Vlog #7! Here is episode 7 of Wicked Salty! In this episode we experience the most engine problems yet and had to take some emergency procedures/stops as it was overheating. In hindsight the rolling furler should have been ready to get unfurled, even having the main sail ready to go but dropping the anchor was the next best thing. I have learned a ton of things about this engine from these problems, so I'm glad they happened before we were going. Enjoy!
