he 2019 CUBAR Odyssey, a biennial powerboat cruise organized by San Diego Yacht Club was held October 30 – November 17, 2019. This year’s event featured 27 powerboats cruising the coast of Baja California and visiting six Mexican ports along the way. One of the missions of the 2019 CUBAR Odyssey was a philanthropic effort to provide medical supplies to the volunteer ambulance services of Bahia de Tortugas. Participants of the 2019 CUBAR Odyssey planned ahead to collect financial donations and supplies to bring to Bahia de Tortugas. One of the major contributors was the Montecito Fire Department, who was able to provide a variety of uniforms and medical supplies no longer in use at their station which helped stock the ambulance and support the Bahia de Tortugas community.
Borneo shows us an whole new kind of boat life. Sailing into Borneo in search of orangutans, we spend the night dodging fishing boats and other hazards before taking an Indonesian live-aboard boat deeper into the jungle. Seeing orangutans in the wild was a major bucket-list item but the experience of taking a boat deep into the jungle was full of surprises. This is known to be one of the best places to see orangutans in the wild. Should it be on your bucket-list too? We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfil our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence. Along the way we share the live aboard lifestyle with the highs and lows of travelling around the world by boat. I set sail bound for Tahiti, hit some rough weather, and get excited about new adventures exploring histroy 'Seadog Style!' #sailingblog#sailingvideo#storm Thank you for watching this episode, please give us a thumbs up and subscribe. On Facebook our page is ‘Adventures of an old Seadog’ and there you can find ‘realtime’ up-dates and news. Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ If you’d like to help the Old Seadog Please checkout our Patreon page on the link below. https://www.patreon.com/Adventuresofanoldseadog Contributions to the project can be made at paypal.me/seadogadventures Instagram https://www.instagram.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Thanks so much for your support, The adventure continues. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. We've been breaking down way too much and I've isolated the problem to the main fuel tank, so with the tank low and Margarida being back is time to do the smelly job. Soon after we moved from Cayo Holandes to Cayo Chichime where we found ourselves with the right conditions to climb the Chichime wreck and go for a treasure hunt. At anchorage we meet the cool youtube couple from Sailing Seatramp and invite them for lunch and share with us their robbery story. Give it thumbs a up if you liked this episode! How to improve downwind speed in a catamaran during ARC 2019? This video shows clips of our Atlantic crossing and experiments on different sail configurations. With the sails that we had on board, we try wing-on-wing in various configurations. We also show sail repairs and repairs to chaffed ropes as we head towards St Lucia from the Canary Islands. Much of this video was edited while we were at sea during the crossing. I mention at the end that I mostly make the videos for my mother and father who enjoy them so much. I dedicate it to my mother who passed away during our crossing, and to my father who supported her with tender care. The last video of the second week of our crossing is still to come. WE MAKE OUR VIDEOS PUBLIC TO SHARE OUR ENJOYMENT OF OUR OCEAN WORLD. If you enjoyed this video please subscribe and consider making a TAX-DEDUCTABLE DONATION to THE CURE ALLIANCE https://www.thecurealliance.org/donate/ . This NOT FOR PROFIT foundation is working to find a cure to vascular lesions in the brain, called CCMs (for cerebral cavernous malformations). About 1 in 500 of us have a silent CCM lesion in our brain. CCMs may unexpectedly bleed and may cause stroke or seizure. People with the genetic form of the disease have multiple lesions. Your contribution will help find a cure. Lisa has dedicated her career to finding cures for neurological diseases and would greatly appreciate any level of support from our BioTrek-sailing audience. Join us as we are chased by the Dread Pirate Roberts down the French Riviera coastline. We head for the yachting haven of Saint-Tropez, where we are confounded by all the glitz, the glamour, it's all definitely Absolutely Fabulous, but we find no love - definitely no love for a small yacht like Tranquilo!

There were many great stories in this year’s race to Hobart but one of the most inspiring and emotional was saved 'til the end. The arrival in Hobart of the first indigenous crew in this famous race’s 75 year history was a landmark event. It was also a fine tribute to the work of skipper Wayne Jones – whose idea this was - and the dogged determination of a crew, many of whom were new to sailing much less offshore racing.
