The more of the world we see, the more we want to preserve it. But, living off the grid doesn’t have to mean sacrificing modern comforts. We believe self-sustainability and comfort can coexist. One of the best parts of sailing is stumbling into these remote villages. With the lack of tourists, village life prevails. It’s pretty neat too see. Men stick the hard labour such as boat building. The ladies weave. And the children run rampant. We’re not quite sure why the kids were asking for money in this particular village. We’ve only come across it a handful of times. We hope you enjoy this little glimpse into Indonesian village life. BE BRAVE. Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon
After leaving Mallorca and 3 nights at sea, we arrived in Gibraltar and stayed on the Spanish side to avoid immigration problems with a dog on board. The marina was a short walk to the boarder crossing, and the next morning Pierre and I walked across the border and toured Gibraltar for the morning. The monkeys of Gibraltar are enchanting -especially the babies! The taxi tour of the Island allowed us to hit the main sights before returning to BioTrek for an afternoon departure. In this episode we leave Gibraltar late afternoon and had sailed out into the Atlantic. The water was cold, and so the wind is cold, and we needed our offshore suits. Of the 3 nights at sea, one was stormy and with lots of lightening. The last leg was downwind and we put up the Code D. Pierre and Jean-Pierre could not sit still and fiddled with rigging. If you found this useful please consider supporting the channel: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=WZZXJQGZXUSKU This is a lecture from my online sailing course: https://onlinesailcoach.com/course This video explains how to spot & react to shifts & headers- with a focus on upwind strategy. Wind shifts are important to dinghy racing strategy so getting them right will boost your racing results. We also look at layline strategy.

Oie!!
