The Mastery Race is one that celebrates some of the special aspects of the whaleboat, and resembles some aspects of its use during whaling. Due to the nature of the manoeuvres it's necessarily a time trial race, where a boat sets off every 2 minutes. The race starts with each boat on the slip, with all its gear inside, for rowing and sailing, as would happen during whaling. At the sound of a horn, the boat is launched as quick as possible by its 7 "man" crew, and turned 180 degrees in order to leave the harbour by oars. After about half a mile, there is a buoy that marks a transition phase where sailing rules apply. This means boats must cease rowing, and transform into sailboat. This implies recoiling the oars and raising the mast and sails. This would sometimes happen during whaling when it was determined that this change would get them to a surfaced whale fastest. At a second buoy, starts a third leg, where it's "free for all". Boats can choose any means of locomotion, and even accumulate them. In this phase, boats can try different approaches depending on their reading of the elements and their crews capacities. You can keep sailing, you can add paddles or oars to help speed, and you can drop the sails all together and row in. Caddy-Bett Das Team von videomare stellt in diesem Video keinen Eriba- oder Segelfilm vor, sondern widmet sich dem Caddy, dem Zugfahrzeug des Eribas. Bei Fahrten mit dem Caddy allein bestand bisher keine Möglichkeit zum Übernachten, falls kein Hotel oder eine andere Unterkunft verfügbar war. Die auf dem Markt erhältlichen Campingausstattungen für den Caddy sind vielfältig und kostenintensiv; zudem beeinflussen sie die Fahrzeugnutzung. Ein Umbau zum Mini-Wohnmobil kam nicht infrage, da der Transporter weiterhin regulär genutzt wird. Deshalb wurde eine eigenständige Lösung gewählt. Konzept Das Konzept für den Caddy 5 (Baujahr 2024, Kurzversion) sieht vor, dass alle Sitze im Fahrzeug verbleiben und keine festen Verschraubungen erforderlich sind. Lediglich der Einzelsitz hinter dem Beifahrersitz wurde ausgebaut, um ein E-Bike unterzubringen. Das Einzelbett ist hinter dem Fahrersitz positioniert, während die umgeklappte Rückbank als Mittelteil dient. Die Konstruktion lässt sich auch als Doppelbett umsetzen. Liegefläche Die hintere Liegefläche befindet sich zwischen Heckklappe und Zweiersitzbank. Beide Liegeflächen reichten für eine komfortable Länge jedoch nicht aus. Daher wurde für das Kopfteil eine spezielle Variante entwickelt, bei der das Kopfbrett auf den Stangen der Kopfstützen aufliegt. So ergibt sich eine Liegefläche von 190 x 75 cm. Die Bettkonstruktion kann zusammengeklappt und problemlos verstaut werden. Arbeitsaufwand und Kosten Die Materialkosten für das Einzelbett betragen rund 60 € inklusive Zuschnitt. Der Bau kann von handwerklich erfahrenen Personen an einem Nachmittag umgesetzt werden. Als Matratze eignet sich eine selbst aufblasende Luftmatratze aus dem Campingbereich. Im Praxistest zeigte sich das Bett im Caddy als stabile und funktionale Lösung.

Uniting captains, industry leaders and special guests, the Captains of Industry Roundtable delivered a rare forum for high-level insight, refined discussion and meaningful collaboration on the issues defining the future of luxury yachting. The much-anticipated 2025 Captains of Industry Roundtable was held on 11 November at the Australian National Maritime Museum, gathering 71 guests – superyacht captains, yacht owners, industry leaders and sponsors – for a full day of candid discussion and connection. Die Pontinischen Inseln (ital. Isole Pontine) sind eine kleine, aber faszinierende Inselgruppe im Tyrrhenischen Meer vor der Küste Latiums. Trotz ihrer Nähe zu Rom gehören sie zu den weniger bekannten Reisezielen Italiens – ein Umstand, der ihnen einen besonderen Reiz verleiht. Kristallklares Wasser, zerklüftete Vulkanlandschaften, pittoreske Dörfer und eine reiche Geschichte zeichnen diesen Archipel aus. Fünf Inseln gehören zu diesem Archipel, von denen nur zwei, Ventotene und Ponza, bewohnt sind. Santo Stefano wurde früher als Verbannungsort genutzt und bis in die frühen 1960er Jahre befand sich dort eine berüchtigte Haftanstalt. Heute ist das Befahren und Betreten verboten. Bei allen Inseln handelt es sich um Reste versunkener Vulkankrater. Die restlichen Inseln, Zanone und Palmarola sind grösstenteils schwer zugänglich. In this episode we leave Cagliari on Sardinia and start a New Sailing Season cruising in Italy but before we can let go of the lines we need to do a trip back to Gotland and finish off our solarpanelproject. We left Cagliari a sunny day and got a great sail to Porto Corallo on the east coast of Sardinia and we try to give you the same sunny laidback feeling with long 4k sailing clip where you hear the water sizzling around the hull and the subtle squeaking off the lines. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our sailboat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is sail the Mediterrainean Sea and really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans.
