Fazia minhas cainhadas diárias e dançava eventualmente. O restante do tempo era ocupado com leitura, rede social e televisão. Em 2022 fui visitar seus filhos no Canadá e meu filho mais velho tinha comprado um pequeno veleiro para navegar no lago de Montreal. Então, num passeio nessa pequena embarcação, meu filho iniciou um diálogo mais ou menos assim: - Velho! Você já foi um grande aventureiro por que não faz mais uma aventura? - Que aventura, cara! – respondi. - Vir de Veleiro do Brasil até o Canadá. Você precisa sair de casa. Precisa de objetivos de vida. - Você está louco? Nunca naveguei e não tenho dinheiro para comprar um veleiro! – retruquei. - Você não tem uma Previdência Privada? - Sim. Tenho. Mas ela é para quando eu ficar velho. É para minha saúde – respondi. - Mas você já não está velho? (emitiu uma sonora gargalhada). Então você retira esse dinheiro e compra um veleiro. Comece a estudar, assistir vídeos e ler livros. Depois você vende o veleiro e repõe a grana. A sugestão do filho foi como um trauma mental para seu velho pai. A partir desse dia aprender sobre velas tornou-se minha obsessão. Tudo na na minha vida foi relacionado à navegação. Comecei a devorar livros e assistir todo tipo de vídeo no YouTube. No primeiro semestre de 2023 tirei a habilitação da Marinha para navegar em lagos (pré-requisito para as demais). No segundo semestre consegui a carteira de Mestre Amador e, finalmente, em abril de 2024, conseguiu a mais temida e difícil prova aplicada pela Marinha do Brasil: Capitão Amador. O material de estudo para essa prova foi enorme. Vários livros, apostilas, curso grátis no YouTube e sites pagos. Havia dias que o velho pensava que seria impossível passar na prova. Coisas estudadas era rapidamente esquecida pela memória sexagenária. A grana para compra do Veleiro estava resguardada. Era só esperar o momento oportuno. Entretanto, restava, ainda, uma questão muito importante: equacionar os custos da viagem com sua pequena aposentadoria. A conclusão foi que a grana seria insuficiente, principalmente quando as despesas fossem em outra moeda. Para piorar, descobriu que chegando ao Canadá, seria muito difícil voltar no mesmo caminho, tendo em vista que existe uma corrente marítima contrária. O caminho de volta mais fácil teria que ser pela Europa e África. Ou seja, gastar em euros. O visto para entrada em cada ilha ou país corresponderá a um quarto da minha renda, sem contar comida, óleo diesel e manutenção no veleiro tudo em dólar ou Euro. Apesar dos estudos orçamentários indicar a inviabilidade do projeto, no dia 14/10/24 mudei para um veleiro adquirido na cidade de Salvador. O planejamento da viagem estima dois anos de vida ao mar, cujo planejamento pode ser verificado nos dois primeiros vídeos do canal “Veio Doido no Mar” no YouTube. Pretendo navegar pela costa brasileira, passar pelas Ilhas do Caribe, passar pelo Canadá, Europa e África. Em torno de 18 meses viajando.

Recap of my Burlingame Campground experience with the family. One of Rhode Island camping spots that I do recommend. Although the campsite does not offer electric or septic hook-ups, they do have pumpout stations and water stations. There is a boat launch area, swimming area, playground, arcade, campstore, walking trails, open fields and plenty of shaded areas. The grounds were clean and staff were friendly. We enjoyed our stay there.

Für die Näharbeiten nutze ich meine Heavy-Duty-Nähmaschine, es müsste aber auch mit jeder handelüblichen Haushaltsnähmaschine funktionieren, wenn die Fensterfolie nicht allzu dick ist. There are a few tricks and tips that make the job easier and quickly lead to great results. I do it the same way a sailmaker did it on one of our small side windows. I use my heavy-duty sewing machine for the sewing work, but any standard household sewing machine should work as long as the window film is not too thick. It is important to use the right needle size and strong, UV-resistant sewing thread. Good luck with your sewing project 😀

Ep 92 - Aft Hatch Replacement Because of a recent rain storm, we found some serious leaks int he Aft Cabin. There is nothing worse that waking up and you are wet from the rain coming in… drip.. drip.. drip… We removed the old hatch and replaced it with a new one. The old one was sealed with 5200 so how it was leaking, we have no idea! Fui convidado pelo amigo Junior Lourival Stoinski, a comandar o Felicita, Veleiro Brasília 32 na regata da Marinha em 2018. O dia estava chuvoso com vento sul de 10 a 14 nós nas rajadas, a tripulação era de amigos. Conseguimos largar bem ao lado do veleiro Katana, contornamos a primeira boia na frente dos outros veleiros da nossa categoria, no vento em popa fomos ultrapassados pelo veleiro Jah, e no último contra vento após uma cambada no limite de espaço entre a barcaça que estava fundeada ao nosso boreste e o veleiro ao nosso barlavento, a tripulação fez sem nenhum erro a manobra e ultrapassamos chegando em primeiro lugar na categoria Bico de Proa. We sailed from Townsville across to Magnetic Island and were pleasantly surprised by just how much it had to offer. From stunning beaches and a calm anchorage at Horseshoe Bay to a surprisingly fascinating WWII Fort walk, this island is full of history, nature, and charm. Along the way we spotted koalas in the trees, playful rock wallabies, and enjoyed exploring the island with the handy $1 daily bus pass. Add in a local brewery, great little restaurants, and plenty of relaxing spots and Magnetic Island has quickly become one of our favourite destinations so far. We can’t wait to return! Before attempting our monster passage back, we spent a couple of incredible days in Cowes, Isle of Wight – easily our favourite place we’ve visited so far. From the marina atmosphere to the sailing culture, Cowes completely won us over. We also squeezed in a day out at the historic dockyard in Portsmouth, exploring ships and maritime history… all while it absolutely poured with rain. Not the weather we hoped for, but definitely memorable & Prim LOVED IT! Then came the big challenge: We planned a massive 28-hour straight sail home with no stops. This was both out of ecological conviction and to participate in a real-life test of the formula - the most unforgiving test for a sailboat is, of course, in charter work.
