Over the weekend at SIBS PG caught up with Mike Gaffikin. Mike originally started as a client of Gineico Marine in the late 70's / early 80's, when PG's father was the head of our operations and we were located in Frenchs Forest. It's always a blessing to have long term clients who continue to look to us for quality Italian made products that enhance their client's boats. Mike is especially a fan of our Idromar Watermaker and finds our parts inexpensive and easy to access when needed. Gineico Marine represent leading Italian heavy duty marine hardware in Australia and New Zealand. #sydneyboatshow #SIBS2024 #gineico_Marine #quickitaly #quickgyro #quickgyrostabiliser #Yachts #Superyacht #marineaccessories #experience #madeinitaly #virtualshowroom #production #nauticalequipment #accessories #yacht #boat #lifestyle #luxury #elegance #italydesign #gyro #stabilizer #idromarwatermaker
Living the nomad boatlife with friends is a blast, until we're stuck on Scout Island during a storm. But dolphins make great storm-buddies! A pontoon boat gets stuck too - who needs the open sea when you can have a sandbar? After our island caper, we're ready to sail, but the wind is being a grump. We manage a few miles before another storm rolls in, because that's just how it goes. Cocoa Village will have to wait, the weather has other ideas. 📢 Our Website: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/ 📢 See Our Recipes: https://www.dininginwithdanielle.com Tools I Love: 🛠 Milwaukee 18-Volt Drill and Impact Driver Kit https://amzn.to/366BwxM 🛠 Husky Mechanics Tool Set https://amzn.to/3kuGUzD 🛠 iCrimp Ratcheting Crimping Tool https://amzn.to/3uv7u6i What's In The Kitchen: Beelicious 32QT Extra Large Air Fryer https://amzn.to/48NfQUY Empava IDC12B2 Horizontal Electric Stove Induction Cooktop https://amzn.to/47DD3bz What We Us In The Kitchen: Empava IDC12B2 Horizontal Electric Stove Induction Cooktop https://amzn.to/47DD3bz 💎 Have a Website? The 37th America's Cup makes its mark in history by introducing the Women's America's Cup and elevating the Youth America's Cup. These two events sailed in the one design AC40, showcased optimism for a new era in Cup history, and paved the way for more women and up-and-coming talent to compete in the main event. In this episode, North Sails President Ken Read speaks with two team members of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli: Giulia Conti, helmswoman for the winning boat in the first-ever Puig Women's America's Cup, and Rocco Falcone, trimmer on board the Italian team's winning youth boat. Ken also sits with 470 World Champion and Olympic sailor Luise Wanser, trimmer with Women's AC Team Germany. Ken and our guests dive into discussions on their experiences that led to their Cup appearances, what parents and the sailing community can do to support young sailors, and pose the question – is the future of fast, high-performance sailing on foils? This episode is a must-listen for young sailors, parents, and all of us who support the next generation of talent in the America’s Cup and our sport.

The Allen factory, based in Southminster, Essex in the UK, makes many of the deck hardware and fittings that we use in our sailing, be that on dinghies or keelboats. The team are constantly innovating - designing new products, trying out cutting-edge manufacturing techniques - all with the aim of making our time on the water more enjoyable. On my tour around the factory with Ben Harden I met a passionate and dedicated workforce using a range of machinery, from the traditional to the latest in CNC machining and 3D printing. The team also support grass roots sailing, and I took a look at how they were helping Otter Week at nearby Burnham-on-Crouch. There were a few surprises along the way as well. For example, did you know that Allen made masts? They also work with the stuntman industry! Enjoy this look around, seeing how some very familiar fittings are produced, as well as some you may not have seen. #sailing #manufacturing #rigging #yachting
Upgrade your skin with Captain's Salve: https://www.captainssalve.com Beneath layers of overgrowth and time lies an abandoned Jesuit monastery hidden on the Greek island of Naxos, untouched, undocumented, and almost erased from the historical record. But who were the Jesuits really? Missionaries? Master educators? Or a secretive religious order whose power stretched across Vatican politics, European empires, and even modern conspiracy theory? In this video, we walk through the haunting ruins of this forbidden religious site, piecing together the hidden history of the Society of Jesus, a group so powerful they were once feared by kings and banned by popes. We explore: Jesuit origins and their role in the Counter-Reformation How they became the Church’s most feared and respected order Their influence in global education, politics, and colonization Suppression, exile, and whispered secrets in Vatican archives Why this abandoned monastery may have been left to rot—and what it still hides From esoteric symbolism to strategic positioning within the Ottoman Empire, this is more than an urban exploration. It’s a doorway into a suppressed chapter of Catholic history—one that still casts shadows in global affairs today. #58 République Dominicaine 2 : on talonne 3 fois ! Baie Samana : magique, contraste, mer difficile !

‘Whimaway’ is a 2012 Catalina 445 listed exclusively for sale with YOTI on Pittwater. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/catalina-455-whimaway This is a rare find, being a larger and later model Catalina in impressive condition with a very solid inventory. Clearly Catalina’s offer a more traditional and solid cruising yacht when comparing to some European options. Think lead keel, shaft drive diesel, raked bow and reverse or sugar scoop stern, and even a swept back lead keel. This is a very comfortable and solid cruiser. The cockpit is practical and familiar with the large electric genoa winches easily reached from the twin helms. The big folding cockpit table still offers clear passage when walking from the open transom to the companionway. The solid dodger was factory fitted and protects the cockpit in all-weather plus includes a link sheet to the custom stainless Bimini. The Bimini houses solar panels, and removable dinghy davits. The interior is beautiful and practical – an elusive blend. The real and solid timber cabinetry combined with lots of natural light makes for a very inviting space. The large ‘L’ shaped galley includes separate fridge and freezer and proper deep sinks plus loads of intelligent storage options. The beautifully varnished saloon table lowers to make an additional double berth. There are three cabins with master forward including private ensuite. The starboard aft double berth is offset to maximize both cabin and bed space. The port aft cabin can either be used as a double, or storage space, plus there is an additional third bunk berth above. Standing rigging was replaced in 2022. ‘Whimaway’ was anti-fouled in July 2025. The in-mast furling main was new in 2020. There is a furling MPS (cruising spinnaker) with neat retractable snubber pole. There is a bow thruster (tunnel, not drop down). Instruments are extensive including auto-pilot, AIS, and two plotters. ‘Whimaway’ offers a very solid and comprehensively specified cruising platform. Equally, she is easy to sail. Contact Peter for further details and to arrange inspection on Pittwater. info@yoti.com.au +61 (02) 9960 6222 Disclaimer: YOTI offers the details of this vessel in good faith but cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessel. Solo NonStop Day 24, Casper watches as I add a top lift! Generic Description: The Bravest Dog in the World Is About to Change It. Help Us Get There. I’m Kimmer O’Reilly — sailor, survivor, and founder of a mission that shouldn’t be possible. Two-time blood cancer nearly took my life. When I survived, I expected joy. What came instead was an identity crisis. I didn’t know who I was anymore — just that the old me was gone. Then came Casper — my service dog, my best friend, my reason to fight forward. Now, Casper and I are doing something no one believes can be done: a nonstop solo circumnavigation of the globe… starting from the wrong side. We’re sailing east, into the wind and current, through the Southern Ocean and past the Cape of Good Hope — proving that after cancer, life isn’t over. It can be better than it ever was. But we’re not just breaking records. We’re launching a nonprofit to help cancer survivors rediscover purpose, identity, and joy. This GoFundMe isn’t just to keep our sails full. It’s to build something that lasts long after we return. Donate today — not just to help Casper and me sail around the world, but to help thousands of survivors believe they can start again. Let’s show the world what’s possible. 👉 https://bit.ly/BravestDogInTheWorld
SAILING ILLUSTRATED #878 (Tue 28 Oct 2025) — Sweden enjoyed a golden weekend in Bermuda as Johnie Berntsson captured an historic Bermuda Gold Cup hat-trick and Anna Östling claimed the Aspen Women’s Match Racing title in a dominant double triumph. We took some very good friends from Cairns over to Fitzroy Island for a long weekend of fun, snorkelling, and some much-needed time to reconnect. With a Spanish Mackerel on the line on our way over, there was plenty of fresh fish to share with the whole gang. The snorkelling was incredible – healthy coral, schools of colourful fish, and then a truly magical moment when a curious turtle swam right up to the camera. It felt calm, connected and utterly unforgettable – one of those encounters that reminds you why the ocean has such a hold on us. It was so special to share this time with people who truly matter. A final catch-up back in Trinity Inlet – capped off with some unexpected fireworks – was the perfect ending to a weekend that had it all. Thanks Cairns, how lovely to see you again.
