After touring a bit of the island of Penang last week, we now have a bumpy passage north to Langkawi, where we prepare the boat for us to spend some time away. The rest of this episode is a bit of a departure from the typical sailing content and covers our vacation back to Canada during October-November. Due to flight scheduling, we have to overnight in Singapore, and we decide to take the opportunity to tour Singapore's famed Changi International Airport, primarily the area known as the Jewel. The Jewel has an amazing architecture and ambiance, including a tall indoor waterfall, greenery, and food, and a movie theatre. On return to Canada, starting in Ontario, we visit a conservation area, seeing some interactive wildlife, do some outdoor jobs with Kevin's family, and enjoy a Canadian Thanksgiving gathering. Then in New Brunswick there's more work to do including roof upgrades, volunteering at the ski chalet, making pies, fixing and replacing a door, and picking some Beattie Potatoes. The 1962 America's Cup winning 12 Metre Weatherly has enjoyed a long and storied history as it is passed between owners and stewards preserving this most iconic and beloved Cup class. After its new owner, Steve Eddleston, completed an extensive two-year refit, we join the team on board for a rare view of its first race at the 2025 12 Metre North American Championship in Newport, Rhode Island.

Leg 3 is heating up in every sense. While Biotherm and Team Holcim-PRB have edged slightly ahead, Team Malizia remains locked in a fierce three-boat battle with Allagrande Mapei Racing and Paprec Arkéa. After rounding Ibiza and Mallorca, the IMOCA fleet is now pushing towards “Waypoint Charlie” off Porquerolles, where unstable upwind conditions could shake up the rankings once more. With less than 24 hours to the finish in Nice, the game is still wide open. On board Malizia – Seaexplorer, the crew has been fighting through a hot and sticky Mediterranean night, sailing downwind along the northern coast of Mallorca with little to no rest. Even in light winds, there was no pause: constant trimming, headsail changes, and strategic calls kept the team on their toes. Now, fresher reaching conditions are finally offering some relief, as the crew powers north with determination and their eyes firmly set on the French Riviera.
