We enjoy slow days on the boat and check out the Long Point Race Week starting line. Then we had to Avalon to provision, drop off our trash, and go out to breakfast. Tere has an absolute blast at the playground on Catalina Island. A blissful beach afternoon. Tere is finally feeling comfortable and happy in the water and we are so pleased with having the opportunity to all go swimming in the sea together as a fun family bonding activity. Courtney explains why she always laughs out loud when people say we are living the dream and explains why this life is so difficult but also why and how she desires to continue living this lifestyle.

We are now friends with the local sea turtle and kayak over the leopard sharks to the beach at White's Landing. The full-moon rises as we paddle back to the boat. We also head to Avalon to provision our sailboat, and ride in the SS Nautilus semi-submarine. Tere loves his first glimpse of life underwater. We enjoy more time at the beach and I discuss how we are just like every other family out there. Every life has it's struggles, it is all about learning to enjoy the ride.

I make some energy balls which are wonderful snacks for passages on sailboats. Next we enjoy some Terra Firma. A nice walk up the canyon of White's Landing with some California quails. And we get to see one of the buffalo of Catalina island, named Mike Bison. Some very impressive basketball skills (a must-see), a kayak to the beach, as well as a full moon dance party on our sailboat. We LOVE to dance at the hottest club around, Club Natural Mystique, with a very strict dress code: diapers or pajamas.

We use our solar panels and wind generator to power our water maker and then use that water to do laundry on our sailboat. Our efforts to help Tere feel comfortable and happy in the water continues. This episode we try out a full wetsuit to see if that helps avoid the squeals and the screams in the water. And I discuss why we would ever want to live this fancy-free boating lifestyle and share my definition of what makes you wealthy (hint: it does not require a big house). Yes, our boat has a saltwater hot tub.

A sea turtle seems to have joined our vacation here in White's Landing. Join us for a day in the life of a family living on a sailboat. We go for a morning dip and feel very disappointed that the 72 degree waters in Catalina island are still too cold for the baby to enjoy. Teaching our 14 month old baby to drive the dinghy as we head to land for a morning walk and enjoy showing Tere one of our favorite family activities from our sailboat, searching for seaglass. It's days like these that make living full-time on our sailboat worth it.

When people find out we are a family of sailing liveaboards on our catamaran with young children they frequently say, "I don't know how you do it." This episode helps answer that question.
