In May we chartered a Beneteau Oceanis 41 for a week & circumnavigated Mallorca. Stopping along the way on the Island of Cabrera, Porto Cristo, Alcúdia, Port de Sóller, Port d’Andratx, Magaluf before returning to La Lonja Marina in Palma. There were 7 of us onboard.

Die Saison neigt sich dem Ende entgegen - Grund genug, dass wir uns nochmal vor AIDAmar verneigen. IIm Gegensatz zu den Fahrgastschiffen konnten wir das Kreuzfahrtschiff und auch die Fähre von Scandlines ein Stück auf ihrem Weg hinaus auf die Ostsee begleiten. Das Auslaufen in Warnemünde verbanden wir mit einem Trainingsschlag zur Reedetonne. Mit dem Code Zero von Onesails ging es auf Halbwind dem Sonneruntergang entgegen. Auf dem Rückweg zum Leuchtturm Warnemünde wurde der Kurs dann etwas spitz, so dass wir die Segel bis zur Hafeneinfahrt wieder geborgen hatten.

Hiking the Gaint’s causeway, Ireland The Giant’s causeway between the harbours Ballycastle and Portrush is a must see - A great way to see it is to take bus 402 to the ruins of Dun Severick castle. From the Dun Severick castle it is an amazing cliff hike with breathtaking views to the giant’s causeway. The walk is 9 km and takes 3 hrs at a leisurely pace with time for snack stops. On arrival to the giant’s causeway, take the shepherds steps down to the causeway itself. From the giant’s causeway one can take the bus 402 or 402a back to either Ballycastle or Portrush. A stop at the Bushmill distillery can be added as bus 402 goes past it. Enjoy

Lopud is the middle island of the 3 islands which are known as the Elaphiti Islands. This archipelago is situated about 5 kilometers in front of the coast of Dubrovnik. Lopud is famous for it's sandy beaches. When we flew with the drone over Lopud, you could clearly see the large long stretch of beaches in the bay. It was very quiet on the island, in the summer months Lopud has about 400 inhabitants, in the winter (October to April) many residents stay in Dubrovnik. The 15th and 16th centuries were the Golden Age for this island. Thanks to the prospering shipping industry, agriculture (olive groves) and sea trade (even with Americas!).

I had often wondered how dolphins could cruise along under out bow at 6-8 knots with no apparent effort. Lars answered the question when he held his GoPro in the water off the bow, while a few dozen dolphins were playing with us. His video showed their tails and fins moving up and down vigorously, which is not at all evident when looking down at them in the bow wave.
