#veleiro; #sal; #viagem https://Apoia.se/veiodoidonomar https://apoia.se/veiodoidonomar Muito susto. Comece a estudar, assistir vídeos e ler livros.

In this episode of Sailing Astrid the Wombat, we’re breaking down the real haul out costs and sailboat maintenance expenses involved in getting our boat ready to sail around the world. Whether you’re a future liveaboard sailor, a current boat owner, or just curious about the true costs of sailing life, this video dives deep into the dollars and details behind our latest haul out. We’ve spent months preparing our 1990 Beneteau Oceanis 430 — Astrid the Wombat — for blue water adventures, and this haul out was a major milestone. From antifouling paint to through-hull replacements, prop maintenance, and bottom cleaning, we reveal exactly what it costs to haul out a 43-foot sailboat and make her ocean-ready. We’ll walk you through each step of the process: lifting the boat out of the water, inspecting the hull, replacing worn fittings, and tackling those essential upgrades every liveaboard cruiser eventually faces. If you’ve ever wondered, “How much does it cost to maintain a sailboat?” or “What does a boatyard haul out actually involve?” — this episode has the answers. This transparent cost breakdown includes both DIY sailboat projects and professional boatyard services, showing you where you can save money and where it’s worth paying for expert help. It’s a must-watch for anyone planning long-term cruising, full-time liveaboard life, or simply trying to budget for their next sailing adventure. In this episode: – Full cost breakdown of our sailboat haul out – Sailboat maintenance and repair costs – Antifouling, through-hulls, and prop work – Preparing a sailboat for world cruising If you love boat life, sailing content, and honest insights into the cost of cruising, make sure to subscribe and join us each week as we share the highs, lows, and real numbers behind life aboard Astrid the Wombat. It's been a year and a half since our first sail in @SailingAstridTheWombat actually that means it's been a year and a half since our first sail ever. That's right a year ago we bought this Beneteau Oceanis 430 and pulled the sail up for the first time ever when we brought her home. A sail that stretched 700 nautical miles from Townsville in Far North Queensland Australia to Moreton Bay in Brisbane Queensland. We are now preparing to move onboard and to sail around the world. Join us to see the challenges as we continue to learn to sail, prepare our boat and make changes so our boat feels like a home. We are moving onboard in just a few weeks so our sailing dream is getting closer and closer. Each experience we have and each new sailing skill learnt just keeps bringing us closer to taking off to sail around the world in our Beneteau Oceanis 430 @SailingAstridTheWombat living our boat life dream. We are Gav and Shezz an Aussie couple with a dream to sail and scuba dive around the world. We bought our Beneteau Oceanis 430 in October 2023 with zero sailing experience but the belief that we can do this. We have filmed our journey from looking for boats, buying the boat and downsizing our house so we can liveaboard and all the messy wonderful life stuff in between. Join us now as we start to get our boat prepared for liveaboard life. As new sailors we want to share all of our learnings and keep it real in our videos. We want to show step by step what it takes to choose a boat, buy the boat and learn how to sail. Our sailing learning curve is steep so come along with us as we learn and grow as liveaboard sailors. Sailing Canary Islands ⛵ Fuerteventura - Las Palmas, Gran Canaria| Sahara Dust to City Colors | ep51
From desert dust to city color—our family sails through a Calima to vibrant Las Palmas! ⛵️In this episode, we de-cockroach the boat (well, at least preventatively 😅) and dust off a fine layer of Sahara sand after getting caught in our very first Calima — the wild desert wind that sweeps orange dust all the way from Africa across the Canary Islands. Everything turned golden... including our boat, ELANE! After the cleanup, we sail 60 nautical miles (13 hours) from Morro Jable, Fuerteventura to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria — the lively capital known for its beaches, colorful streets, and as the legendary starting point of the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers). Once anchored just outside the busy marina, we explore vibrant street art, watch surfers take on Atlantic waves, and soak in the city vibe. But when it’s time to leave… our anchor refuses to budge! 😬 … and end up missing our perfect weather window to Tenerife. Oh well… just another day in sailing life! 🎥 Filmed: February 17–22, 2021 🧭 Route: Morro Jable ➜ Las Palmas (60nm / 13h) ☀️ Boat: SY ELANE 📍 Next Episode: Paddle-boarding, anchor rescue, and a road trip up to the icy peak of Roque Nublo! #sailingfamily #sailinglife #canaryislands #laspalmas #granCanaria #calima #ARC #kids4sail #itiwit #decathlon #sailingadventure 🕒 Timestamps & Highlights 0:47–1:06 ⛵️ Preparing canned food for storage — removing paper and cardboard to avoid roaches. 1:14–2:23 👨👩👦 Family teamwork — labeling cans, joking about “surprise food,” and playing with toy teeth. 3:00–3:57 🌴 Morning walk to the beach; kids finish homework and get some light exercise. 4:26–5:45 🌪️ Saharan sandstorm (Calima) hits — everything turns orange and dusty. 6:10–6:59 🌍 Narration explains the Calima phenomenon — sand blown from the Sahara across the Canary Islands. 7:20–8:09 ⚓️ Night sail to Las Palmas, arriving early morning among large ships. 8:41–9:48 🛥️ Anchoring outside Las Palmas harbor — meeting friends, 13-hour sail completed. 10:00–12:20 🌆 Exploring Las Palmas — giant yachts, murals, and discovering the city’s size and vibrancy. 13:06–14:46 🍦 Family walk to find ice cream; busy city vibes and street scenes. 16:34–17:55 ☀️ Breakfast in the cockpit; trying out a hammock over the water. 18:23–20:25 🚶♀️ Sunday walk along the promenade — relaxing family moments and playtime. 20:25–20:56 🍰 Celebrating the first day of Lent — baking traditional Norwegian cream rolls (“fastelavnsboller”). 21:04–21:31 ⚓️🚨 Anchor gets stuck; they can’t move the boat but eventually free it. 21:51–22:21 🏔️ Preview of next episode — mountain road trip and icy summit adventure. We finish sailing across the Atlantic after 28 days at sea and arrive at Horta on the island of Faial, Azores. We had to sail very conservatively to protect the rigging so the journey ended up taking much longer than we had hoped. Getting into port with the rig still up was our priority, so we took the win 😁 We are very pleased to have made the crossing back to the Azores from the Caribbean. Nova Vita performed brilliantly the whole way. The rigging was repaired whilst we were here. We ordered 2 new inners which came from the mainland and which we fitted ourselves (a simple task). Horta is a great place to spend some time and it was good to relax here after the crossing.
We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. Two ongoing jobs are preparing for our electric motor installation and creating a cockpit enclosure for our wheelhouse. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). In this short 3-minute video, Ella shares her simple onboard recipe for making “caviar” from the mahi we caught in the previous episode. No fancy kitchen, no complications - just fresh fish roe, creativity, and pure joy aboard Mirage. Watching Ella cook is half the fun. Her excitement, charm, and happiness make this little galley moment a real treat. Sailing life is not only about wind and waves - it’s also about these small, beautiful moments at sea. Thanks for sailing with us 💙 If you enjoy life aboard Mirage, don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share. ⛵ Sailing Mirage
Our first days in Bocas Del Toro were full of simple Island adventures. A jungle hike to Wizard beach, wondering the colourful town, Tacos, and a journey to Starfish beach. From a suspicious dinghy situation to spotting starfish right off the shore. It was a great week in Paradise!
After leaving Australia we fly to India and land in Chennai. We spend some time exploring Chennai and checking out local tourist spots. A wander through Pondi Bazaar gives us a taste of the city’s energy and some superb Indian meals. It’s good to be back. Next we pick up our hire car, the one that’ll take us across India. Once we make our way out of Chennai we head south to Pondicherry, a beautiful area known for its striking buildings and complex past. From there we drive up into the hills to Erode Hill Station where we find the most incredible place to stay. It’s been created from old government buildings, cinemas, bridges and other unexpected structures. No two rooms are the same and the architecture is wonderfully higgledy piggledy. A brilliant place to spend a few days. Thanks for watching. Until next time Wendy and Magnus —— VALKRY BBQ, SMOKER, ROTISSERIE If you’d like to get your own VALKRY BBQ, you can use our link below. Spirit of Tradtion pioneer WHITEFIN's Bruce King-designed mix of agility, lightness and grace is so exquisitely proportioned that it makes you forget her 90-foot size and gives her one of her greatest qualities: speed. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/793/WHITEFIN A tank-tested wing keel design and large sail plan have allowed her to be a winner - in recent years of the most prestigious trophies at the most important regattas for her category, including: the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, Porto Cervo; Vele d’Epoca di Imperia; and at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. If the exterior is - still - state-of-the-art technology combined with traditional style, Joseph Artese's groundbreaking interior design, his unique take on 19th Century elegance - from the magnificent decagonal saloon skylight and swept stairway, to the fireplace in the main saloon and wooden bath in the owner’s suite - every part of this boat is a modern twist on the glorious years of the 'Gilded Era'. In recent ownerships WHITEFIN has alternated between a popular charter yacht with much repeat business and a family cruiser. And she remains a potent and famous foe on the classic regatta circuit.
