Sergey and I paid a visit to Royal yacht Squadron, a yacht club that was situated just minutes of driving from our Horseshoe Island park anchorage. As boats and sailing became my passion, places like this yacht club are of  particular high interest to me.  The Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (RNSYS) is a yacht club located on the Northwest Arm of Halifax Harbour in Halifax, Nova Scotia.It was founded in 1837... The Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron has been incorporated as a not-for-profit society in Nova Scotia, Canada, and has legal status to operate in Nova Scotia. The Yacht Squadron is home to the RNSYS race teams coached by head coach Agustin Ferrario, as well as 2012 Olympian Danielle Dube, and 2004 and 2008 Olympian Lisa Ross, the Squadron has sent at least one youth sailor to every ISAF Youth Worlds since 2010. In 2013, the RNSYS sent 5 Youth sailors to Youth Worlds. ===================== ABOUT ME Back in 2019 I decided I did not want to be a 9 to 5  type guy anymore. I got fed up with this rat race like routine city life and I got hooked on the idea of sailing and living on a boat full time. But with 0 (zero) expirience that would be difficult to achieve... I took a Transport Canada course and received my first boat license... I watched tons of videos about boats and sailing on youtube and got myself registered with dozen boat related forums and groups on a facebook... In May 2020 I came across a facebook post. Sergey was looking for a crew to bring his boat to the Caribbean. I travelled 1300 km from Montreal to Halifax to join him on his boat. ==================================== Ничего вам не продаю. This is the second video, in the Build a rudder series. This shows the glass work and some grinding on the rudder. I know its not proper glass techniques or vacuum bagged or really high tech stuff. But Its just a quick rudder. Though it is taking forever. The next step will be sanding and filling some small gaps in the glass, and then fairing it out. But that will be Part 3

CAMPING ONE-POT PAD THAI ½ package of rice noodles 2 tablespoons of peanut butter 1 packet soy sauce sriracha sauce 1 cup mixed chopped vegetables – bell peppers, asparagus, brussel sprouts or kale ½ cup protein – shrimp, diced chicken, smoked salmon, or tofu In a pot over a camping stove or campfire bring 12 ounces of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add rice noodles, and let sit 10 minutes. Dispose of most of the water, leaving about 4 ounces. Stir in peanut butter then add soy sauce and a healthy squeeze of sriracha to desired taste. Add raw vegetables and protein, heat through and serve.

Episode 1: We take off for a 16 hour drive to spend a few days in the Keys boat shopping for our future sailboat home. We learn along the way that it is hard to schedule to see boats without more notice but we do get to see a few of the ones we want on this trip. We look at an Irwin 38 and a Morgan Classic 41 in this episode which the Morgan is what we think is one of our top choices for us. We leave the anchorage at Portimão to change the scenery and to run the water maker. So we travel a few miles west to Alvor. This gave us a couple of hours sailing. Alvor is a beautiful spot surrounded by nature that is just so relaxing. We take our time to explore the many trails along the beach and in the countryside. First few days of Dave's sabbatical is mostly building the new forecabin design. This is part of our 3 month refit rush to the water for our 1977 Rival 38 Centre Cockpit Ketch. Two and a half years ago, when we bought Vida, she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel, and paraffin equipment as well as all the plumbing and electrics. We have composting toilets, are installing an electric motor and all electric cooking. We are fitting a huge solar array and probably a wind generator. We have replaced all the windows, removed all the headlining and more. We are replacing all the standing rigging with Dyneema synthetic rigging. This is the biggest sustainability project of our lives as we prepare for a retirement when we want to cruise the world using zero fossil fuels on a very low budget. Meet our first graduates of Heroes del Mar! To make conservation work, it must be beneficial to the local communities. Heroes del Mar takes children from Baja's small local fishing villages and gives them experiences showing them that they can make a difference to their communities, the ocean, and themselves. Thank you to PADI and Divers Alert Network, who made it possible to take 14 children who once barely knew how to swim and make them into divers ready to protect the ocean. We are looking forward to the next generation of Heroes in 2023!

In this episode we set out for the Canary Islands from Madeira, having beautiful Goldilocks conditions for the first day before being becalmed and having to motor the second day. Arriving at a chill anchorage at Isla Graciosa in the northeast end of the Canaries, we start out by doing a morning walk on a dormant volcano rim near the anchorage. We are invited by new friends to a beach potluck, for which Jeannine prepares some sushi-style rolls. We do some vessel maintenance, cleaning the hull of the boat. Nearby there is a marine protected area that we explore and have a swim with the chill fish. Pretty clear, calm water! Moving on next to Marina Lanzarote at the city of Arrecife then down to the lower end of Lanzarote near Rubicon, we enjoy the chill vibe of the southern beaches and nearby trails. Finally, we explain our water maker setup using the portable Rainman desalination system. Thanks for following! Youfor32 is an initiative created from a partnership between the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and Australian Sailing. The purpose of the program is to utilise the QAS school talent search to identify potential sailors, based on projected height and weight, risk appetite, love of the water and growth mindsets. The goal is finding new sailors from different sporting backgrounds for the Sailing Performance Pathway and the upcoming Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games with a target age somewhere between 14 – 21 for foilers and female crews.
