Mardi 17 septembre 2024. Température 15 à 27° Départ à 8h30 de port Ewen Vanderberg Cove pour environ 30 minutes. 3 ème incident. Moteur étouffe ne repart pas. Demandé de l'aide à un catamaran qui nous a remorqué. Reparti 12h20 de la marina privé. On a même le dinghy qui étoufe pas capable de le remorquer. On se met a l'ancre. Repart et réussi à s'ancré à 17h15 à White Hudson River Marina à New Hamburg. Une dure journée, fatigué. J'ai pu utiliser les douches de la marina, c'est accessible et propre. Distance 18 MN. The Secop temperature controls where hundreds of dollars, our solution was under $40.Now we need a way to control the temperatures of our freezer and fridge since our analog temperature controls failed and the spillover fan seized up. The thermostat for our fridge ran both fridge and freezer fans an drew power from the same wires that powered the temperature relays. Withe air moving in the freezer it allowed for better cooling and also help the spillover fan cool the fridge faster. With the new thermostat relays in we still weren't getting as cold as we needed due to the Secop/Danfoss variable speed compressor. We had to add resistors with a 3 way toggle switch to control our freezer compressor speed. The toggle was spliced into the wiring on C and T terminals on the thermostat for the freezer. With a 3 way toggle switch we can turn off the freezer compressor while leaving the fans running, works great to defrost the freezer. Also with a 3 way toggle up can have two freezer compressor speeds for eco or turbo mood. We all know that power is limited when you live off-grid. Despite the new thermostat relays, the Secop/Danfoss variable speed compressor failed to provide adequate cooling. We addressed this by adding resistors and a 3-way toggle switch to control the freezer compressor speed. The toggle was connected to the thermostat's C and T terminals. Ora qui c'è SANADA, bellissimo e per noi enorme Oceanis 393, e da qui inizierà, ad aprile 2026 la nostra vita di pensionati di mare!

Antecipando o Círio de Nazaré, que acontece no segundo domingo de Outubro a cada ano, no sábado após o amanhecer dezenas de embarcações de vários tipos e modelos dirigem-se de várias localidades para as proximidades do porto de Icoaraci onde reunem-se aguardando a partida da Nau Capitania da Marinha do Brasil, neste caso foi a H-37, que transportou a imagem de N.S. de Nazaré. Quando ela parte todas as embarcações começam a navegar formando uma impressionante e majestosa frota maritima que segue pela orla da baía de Guajará em direção a um ponto específico em Belém onde se encerra essa procissão incrível. Por onde passa fogos de artifícios são acionados e as varandas do prédios na orla de Belém ficam cheias de pessoas saudando a passagem da mesma e tocando canções de louvor.

Just a few shots from a few different locations on my new FPV Avata 2 from DJI. First up was from one of my recent drives from San Francisco to Washington up along the Pacific coast. I came across the Heceta Lighthouse which can be seen for 21 nautical miles (keeping things boat related). Next was a super fun picnic I attended at Gas Works Park in Seattle WA. Very interesting remnants of the old gasification plant protrude from the ground and the site presented a challenge flying the Avata 2. Finally I fly a little around Bellingham Bay, checking out the Bellingham High School sailing team practice as the sun went down. Very Beautiful.

Separado, morando sozinho num pequeno barraco, com os filhos morando muito distante (dois no Canadá e a caçula em Paraty) já estava aceitando a vida sedentária. Fazia minhas cainhadas diárias e dançava eventualmente. O restante do tempo era ocupado com leitura, rede social e televisão. Em 2022 fui visitar seus filhos no Canadá e meu filho mais velho tinha comprado um pequeno veleiro para navegar no lago de Montreal. Então, num passeio nessa pequena embarcação, meu filho iniciou um diálogo mais ou menos assim: - Velho! Você já foi um grande aventureiro por que não faz mais uma aventura? - Que aventura, cara! – respondi. - Vir de Veleiro do Brasil até o Canadá. Você precisa sair de casa. Precisa de objetivos de vida. - Você está louco? Nunca naveguei e não tenho dinheiro para comprar um veleiro! – retruquei. - Você não tem uma Previdência Privada? - Sim. Tenho. Mas ela é para quando eu ficar velho. É para minha saúde – respondi. - Mas você já não está velho? (emitiu uma sonora gargalhada). Então você retira esse dinheiro e compra um veleiro. Comece a estudar, assistir vídeos e ler livros. Depois você vende o veleiro e repõe a grana. A sugestão do filho foi como um trauma mental para seu velho pai. A partir desse dia aprender sobre velas tornou-se minha obsessão. Tudo na na minha vida foi relacionado à navegação. Comecei a devorar livros e assistir todo tipo de vídeo no YouTube. No primeiro semestre de 2023 tirei a habilitação da Marinha para navegar em lagos (pré-requisito para as demais). No segundo semestre consegui a carteira de Mestre Amador e, finalmente, em abril de 2024, conseguiu a mais temida e difícil prova aplicada pela Marinha do Brasil: Capitão Amador. O material de estudo para essa prova foi enorme. Vários livros, apostilas, curso grátis no YouTube e sites pagos. Havia dias que o velho pensava que seria impossível passar na prova. Coisas estudadas era rapidamente esquecida pela memória sexagenária. A grana para compra do Veleiro estava resguardada. Era só esperar o momento oportuno. Entretanto, restava, ainda uma questão muito importante: equacionar os custos da viagem com sua pequena aposentadoria. A conclusão foi que a grana seria insuficiente, principalmente quando as despesas fossem em outra moeda. Para piorar, descobriu que chegando ao Canadá, seria muito difícil voltar no mesmo caminho, tendo em vista que existe uma corrente marítima contrária. O caminho de volta mais fácil teria que ser pela Europa e África. Ou seja, gastar em euros. O visto para entrada em cada ilha ou país corresponderá a um quarto da minha renda, sem contar comida, óleo diesel e manutenção no veleiro tudo em dólar ou Euro. Apesar dos estudos orçamentários indicar a inviabilidade do projeto, no dia 14/10/24 mudei para um veleiro adquirido na cidade de Salvador. O planejamento da viagem estima dois anos de vida ao mar, cujo planejamento pode ser verificado nos dois primeiros vídeos do canal “Veio Doido no Mar” no YouTube. Pretendo navegar pela costa brasileira, passar pelas Ilhas do Caribe, passar pelo Canadá, Europa e África. Em torno de 18 meses viajando.
