In this weeks episode Luther and I race our Mini Transat in the 2021 Great Vallejo Race. The race starts on the Berkeley Circle with a short upwind around a buoy then a blast all the way downwind to the Vallejo Yacht Club. The following day is the second leg of the race which is an upwind sail from Vallejo Yacht Club to the Richmond Yacht Club.

Pete Myers is chair, founder and chief scientist of Environmental Health Sciences, a not-for-profit organization that promotes public understanding in scientific research on environmental and human health. He holds a PhD in biological sciences from UC Berkeley. For a dozen years, beginning in 1990, Dr. Myers was director of the W. Alton Jones Foundation in Charlottesville, Virginia. He also co-authored Our Stolen Future (1996), a book that explores the scientific basis for concern about how contamination threatens fetal development. Pete is actively involved in research on the impacts of endocrine disruption on human health and is an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University. Over the last few years he has received the first “Champion of Environmental Health Research” award from the U.S. National Institutes of Health; and the Laureate Award for Outstanding Public Service from The Endocrine Society. In 11 hours we managed to cover only 40 miles. Not a lot. Strong headwind, big waves. We were moving very slowly. Sergey (our captain) suggested we take a break until tomorrow and find a place to stay overnight before we continue with our journey to Corsica. We consulted Navionics and found a very cool marina on our way - Marina De Orso.... The Office of Outdoor Recreation leverages Maine’s assets and outdoor recreation heritage to grow the outdoor recreation economy and build Maine’s outdoor recreation brand as part of a coordinated effort with partners from the public and private sectors. The Maine Office of Outdoor Recreation recently highlighted Lyman-Morse in this inspiring video about Maine's growing outdoor recreational economy. The outdoor recreation industry in Maine is valued at over $3.3 billion dollars -- Boating and fishing contributed $412 million of that pie. We're proud to play a role in it. Not only is it a crucial piece of our state's economy, but it is also what makes living in Maine so special. Our outdoor opportunities are boundless. Outdoor recreation made up 3.9% of Maine’s economy, making Maine the sixth state in the country in the value outdoor recreation adds to a state’s economy. 32,000 people work in the outdoor industry in Maine, including 2,184 added jobs in 2022, representing a 7% increase from 2021. Le pont, malgré une largeur proportionnellement plus mesurée que celle des Sixty, par exemple, offre un flybridge aménageable à l’envi de quelque 50 m2, tandis qu’à l’arrière, la plate-forme qui relie les deux jupes émarge à 22 m2… A l’intérieur, on peut opter pour une cuisine dans la nacelle ou en bas. Le Lagoon Eighty 2 sera très prochainement décliné en version power sous le vocable Eighty 3. The South Coast & Green Tech Boat Show brings to Southampton a range of global power and sail brands, along with new innovative eco-friendly products, all at the same great venue for three days this spring.
