Today is the first day that Carmen ("Cusie") and I have been able to take off in months. So we decided to take Reverie for her first official sail after being brought back from the yard. A lot of work has been put into this sailboat restoration. She has been completely rebuilt from the keel up. Below the water line, we replaced the Shaft Strut, Shaft, Propeller (New 16” 10 Deg 3 Blade), Rudder Shoe, Rebuilt Rudder and Centerboard, New Pendant, New piping for pendant line, all thru hulls and transducer. I have other videos on this channel that show a lot of the work done to Reverie. So we took Reverie for a sail on Terra Ceia Bay. Beautiful bright blue skies, winds 12 - 15 knots. Ideal conditions for our first sail. Terra Ceia Bay is located near entrance to Tampa Bay and the Skyway Bridge. We are starting the process of testing all of the systems, so Cusie and I sailed her to test sails, winches, performance, electronics, etc. Of course I could not get Cusie of the helm the whole time. She only let me dock Reverie. =) Overall, we had a great day and the shakedown was a great success!! We are looking forward to finishing the interior projects which are not that many, so we can take our first overnight cruise. No mês que completei 66 anos, e o Thor 2,5 anos, por insistênica de amigos e principalmente da minha filha, comprei minha primeira bicicleta da vida. Quando fui pedalar a primeira vez meu corção partiu ao deixar meu amigo. Tentei coloco-lo no guidão, mas ele é grande e eu muito barbeiro. Então encostei a bike e não andei enquanto não comprei um reboque para puxá-lo. Our Christmas plans were revealed after a year of planning! The stress of coordinating our movements around a secret almost killed me! We were all so excited for the kids to finally find out. Grammy and Grampy reveal to the grandkids they are going to Disney World for Christmas. This isn't the first surprise the kids have been lucky to receive from them. Not only is it a fun way to get the experience kicked off right, it's also super practical when we're dealing with kids and expectations. The adults involved were going stir crazy with excitement, so could you imagine what the kids would be like leading up to this? We'll get back to sailing in a few more videos. Q: So Luke, let's talk about performance. The Quick Gyro has adaptive performance that gives precession movement. What precession does is it constantly studies the movement of your boat and adjusts the precession angle and the response of the precession so that the boat is stabilized from when you're fishing in chop and when you're fishing in big seas. What does that feel like to you when you are driving the boat? A: Well, essentially it stops to go from rocking, and that's the noticeable difference. There’s a tremendous amount of difference when it’s on vs when it’s off. Essentially, it’s killing the rock of the boat. You do feel a bit of a sensation of the Gyro moving at the extremities when it stops, of course it has to do that, but underway, it’s fantastic; trolling - it's a big difference. But we mostly put the Quick Gyro on for anchoring at night-time. Most of our trips are liveaboard trips out on the reef, and we're anchored behind the reef at night, so it's subject to tides and weather. If you get strong winds and big tides, it can still be pretty rollie behind the reef. Q: Do you ever try seeing what the difference is when you put it in standby mode and disconnect it, and then put it back and reactivate it just to see how much of a difference it is doing in those sea conditions? A: yeah, a lot of our clients sometimes ask what's it like with it off? It's easy, here you go, I’ll just show you, and I whack it on standby and they are, ‘quick, turn it back on again!’ ............................................................................... Welcome back! This weekend was our first overnighter on Aeolos since Her haulout. Anchoring is a tricky thing for many sailing couples, and we managed very well given it was our first time together and Sara's first time ever! Portland Island, located in the Gulf islands National park is a beautiful island close to home which serves as a great testing ground before setting out on longer distance and duration trips. Biodiversity, Beaches, Cliffs, campground's and multiple solid anchorages make for a stunning and rewarding experience for all who wish to stay here.
