This is an offshore story about a shark encounter we experienced offshore.

After leaving Georgetown, SC, we decided to anchor in Five Fathom Creek to put us closer to the inlet for an Atlantic crossing to Charleston. Our passage to Charleston was a little swelly and we were able to sail some of the way there. We dropped anchor right by the USS Yorktown for one night before heading into Charleston Harbor Resort Marina the next day. The marina was a luxurious 2 night stay before heading to Beaufort, SC. After some cool windy days in The Abacos we sailed south to Spanish Wells. We visited a few places in The Eleutheras. Queen's Bath, Glass Window Bridge, Governor's Harbour, Rock Sound, then on to Long Island, Conception, Georgetown, Compass Cay, Staniel Cay, and finally we spoiled ourselves in Chub Cay and Freeport. We saw a whale breach 3 times. Two were caught on video.

In this episode Saoirse has Steve and Keith aboard, for "surf week". We fuel up with jerricans, then do a lap around the island of Lombok, hitting some of the local waves on western Sumbawa and southern Lombok. Points of interest include: Scar Reef, Yo-Yo's, Ekas Bay (not pictured), Belongas Bay, and then back to Gili Asahan to stage for Desert Point break. We end up saving a surfer after dark on Scar Reef after we heard him calling out for help. He had lost his board on the break, and was getting pulled out to sea. We were glad to be in a position where we could assist. On the maintenance side, we create some drainage holes to allow water to escape from the flybridge roof, as there is some unknown ingress point. First step, drain what's there...then we'll start working to find and seal the source. Thanks for following! ⛵️ Denizde geçen günlerin, uzun seyirlerin ardından tekneyi tuzdan ve tozdan arındırmak gerçekten önemli. Çünkü ne kadar çok tuzlu bırakılırsa, güneşin ışınlarıyla birlikte teknenin eskime payı da hızlanıyor. Biz de sık sık marina ya da limanlara bağlanmadığımız için bu konuda pratik bir çözüm arayışındaydık. Elbette ek bir hidrofor taktırma seçeneğimiz vardı ama zorunlu olmadıkça tekneyi delmek istemiyorduk. Sonunda işimizi görecek pratik bir çözüm bulduk: 🪣 “Karcher OC Foldable” hafif basınçlı su kovası 🚿 Katlanır, küçük ve taşınabilir. Teknenin bir köşesinde dursa bile yer kaplamıyor. En güzeli de marinaya ya da limana girmeden tekneyi ya da botu hızlıca tuzundan, tozundan arındırabiliyorum. Üstelik ⛓️ zinciri toplarken baklaların arasını temizlemek için de harika bir yardımcı oldu. Yani tek bir ürünle hem zamandan kazanıyoruz hem de işimiz kolaylaşıyor. Ben teknede böyle kullandım ama aslında kamp, karavan, bisiklet ya da motosiklet temizliğinde de aynı şekilde hayat kurtarıcı olabilir. ⚓️💧 Installer une toilette marine, mission (presque) impossible ?! 😅 Aujourd’hui, je m’attaque à un gros morceau à bord de Joy : l’installation de la toilette ! Sur le papier, ça avait l’air simple… en vrai, j’ai galéré comme jamais 🙈 Pas de notice claire, des tuyaux capricieux, et une pompe qui m’a fait transpirer plus qu’une séance de sport 🧰💦 Heureusement, un sauveur du port est venu à la rescousse (merci encore Christophe ! 😘) Bref, ça n’a pas été une mince affaire, mais j’y suis arrivée — enfin presque ! 🧩 Produit fourni par H2R Équipements dans le cadre de leur programme ambassadeur.
