Part 1: Finding where I am using only the sun ☀️ No GPS, no screens, just timing and angles. The goal here is simple: catch the sun at its highest point. First, I check the Nautical Almanac for the meridian passage… but that’s for Greenwich. I’m not there, so I adjust. The sun moves 15° per hour. I’m roughly 30° west → that’s about 2 hours difference. So now I know when to start paying attention. As that time gets closer, I grab the sextant and start measuring the sun’s height. Over and over again. At some point, it stops climbing. That’s the moment. It hangs there for a few minutes, just long enough to get a clean reading… and that’s where the real calculations begin. That’s how I start figuring out where I am, in the middle of the ocean, using nothing but the sun. Mais avant il faut récupérer la grande remorque sur le lieu de stockage et la convoyer par les petites routes bretonnes jusqu'à la zone de manutention du port. Puis démâter, ranger et sangler le bateau à sa remorque pour le préparer au trajet retour en Alsace.

Not much wind so not much racing on Day 5 of the 470 European Championships in Sanremo. Hear from our team as they prepare for tomorrow's final medal race.

This week we have the boatyard back out to the boat to continue with the painting of the coach-house repair. If you recalled a couple of months ago, we had done some repairs to the support wall inside and had the boatyard plane some of the old fiberglass off and then lay new glass up to the coach house wall and onto the roof. Then I put the port in, and we wanted to ensure that the leak had stopped before we had them come back out again and paint. They came out and prepared and painted the first coat on the surface. It needs a second coat yet, but progress is happening for sure. I will also share that I gained a few pounds while off the boat and up here in New Jersey. So, I went back to my 'tried and true' where I am making smoothies and having them as breakfast replacements a couple of times a week. I have a great and simple recipe that is easy to make, and I share it in this weeks episode. Additionally, we go on a tour of a small organic farm where I pick fresh berries for the smoothies. This farm belongs to my aunt and it was cool to go visit it again as I have not been there in about 40 years. Thanks for watching everyone!!
