This week its time to sort out how to drop the headliner on Samantas it was very simple to drop the headliner once the trim is removed the headliner was stapled in place all around the perimeter and held up from port to starboard with a metal rod passed through a sleeves stitched through the headliner fabric I'm not sure if I'll get creative with the headliner or just replace it just like it was. With a little apprehension I cast off the lines and move away from the dock under power for my first solo sail on my Precision 21 sailboat. Soon I had the main sail up and was sailing in the Barnegat Bay all by myself with just the sound of the wind pushing me. The amazing feeling of hearing only the sound of the wind and waves was one I had been preparing for a long time but it was soon shattered with lots of power boats rushing at me and cutting across the stern and bow. Serenity returned and after about two hours of sailing I returned to the marina with a very happy smile on my face. Mission accomplished. 8 knot winds, 20 knot gusts forecast, but I arrive at the lake with hardly a ripple in the water!! So as its such a beautiful morning I decide to get the drone out and take some lovely videos, hope you enjoy them, the light was perfect. Watch out near the end when my drone nearly catches a tree!! So it was on to some boat projects: I added a cool little phone holder so I can attach an old Android rugged phone to my boat. I also put some marks on my dagger board to help me know how deep it has been set. I also find some lush Blackberries behind my standing and they're super delicious. I'll be sure to remember that this time next year. The wind finally picks up enough to have a leisure potter after lunch so we launch and see what we can do, however after a short lived flurry, we're back to nothing and I have to get the paddle out to get us home!! It's all a learning experience, no wind is quite tough to master because you have to be careful where you sit on the boat and its all about balance and finding wind. Am Start glaubten die meisten Teilnehmer sicherlich nicht, dass sie das Ziel am Leuchtturm Warnemünde unter Segeln erreichen würden. Anfangs war es nahezu windstill und nur der Delfin sorgte für etwas Wellengang zwischen den Molen. So erinnerte der Känguru Start (es wird zeitlich versetzt gestartet, je nach Bootsgeschwindigkeit) eher an ein Bahnradrennen mit Steherduell. Wer es dann doch irgendwie aus der Warnemünder Hafeneinfahrt geschafft hatte, machte sich unter Spinaker auf den Weg zur Tonne vor Wilhelmshöhe. Hier setzte dann der Wind ein, der auf der abschließenden Kreuz von der Reedetonne zum Ziel weiter zunahm. Die Segel wurden gerade noch rechtzeitig eingepackt, bevor der Regen einsetzte - also ein Segeltag mit viel Abwechslung, nur der Sonneuntergang auf der Ostsee fehlte ...
