Hi Everyone, since the MINI lost a bit of fluid from the left axle half shaft replacement (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkCFaPJI0tw), I thought I would just go ahead and swap out all the transmission fluid. It is super simple and probably something to do every couple of years. It did actually help to make the shifting a bit smoother! Tools you’ll need: • 8mm hex • Ratchet • Torque wrench • 3Qts of appropriate fluid (consult your manual or service center). I used Mobile One Synthetic 75W90 • Fluid Pump that fits your replacement fluid bottles • Drain Pan • Rags/roll towels We hope you enjoyed the video. If you did, please give it a “Thumbs up” and Subscribe to Heidi and Franny’s Garage for more videos to come. Our friends were quoted $25k to have a rudder built! I think I'll build one myself! https://www.sailingnandji.com/ This video was filmed in Febuary before the global pandemic really took off. Thailand was one of the first countries affected and we took the adequate precautions early to protect ourselves. If you would like to contribute towards Nandji's repairs please use this link. Thank you. http://paypal.me/SailingNandji If you are getting something out of our videos, please become a Patron to help support our production and adventures. Get Unseen footage, Exclusive vids and the inside scoop! http://www.patreon.com/Nandji In this episode of Sailing Nandji, it is time to finish off the rudder build. I had been busy gluing and screwing the plywood together to form the foundations of the rudder. With a solid platform to begin with, it is time for sanding and shaping and then fibreglassing the blade. I really enjoyed shaping the rudder blade as it quickly took shape and once glassed will be a solid new rudder. I take you through the design of the glassing complete and how I went about the lay up of the fibreglass construction. I tell you, rolling on those last nits of anti foul with the new rudder blade attached is a very rewarding feeling! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed on our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! Today we are gonna get to the peak of a hill in the only tropical fjord in the world. But to get to the peak we still need to move our home to another anchorage (yes, we are living on a boat) and hike 1500 meters up hill. We are also gonna sail and say some goodbyes to people we are gonna miss a lot. On this week's episode of Onboard Lifestyle we prepare for our last winter in Seattle aboard our custom 435 catamaran SV basik. Condensation is a huge issue for anyone living on a boat in cooler climates so we do what we can to keep our boat dry and comfortable. Come back next week to see what other projects we take on...see you then!

This Gulfstar 52, with an asking price of $140,000 is certainly one of the most affordable 52 foot yachts on the market. Just to be clear, when I use the term "affordable," it's always relative to the size and age of vessel. $140,000 is an affordable 52 footer, but a 30 footer at the same price at the same age is definitely not affordable. Affordability is always relative, so please keep that in mind. It seems that whenever I use this term there's always a couple comments that have a problem with it. This boat offers a ton of accommodation for a relatively smaller price than other boats of the same size and vintage, so I'll call it affordable. I think that is this boat's biggest strength. It's a very livable, big yacht for not that much money up front. I could see just about anyone in the USA being able to purchase this boat and retiring to the Caribbean with an appropriate and responsible amount of working and saving beforehand. As I stated in the video, I can see the value in this boat, but being aboard so many performance oriented vessels over the past few years has skewed my interests to the value of performance, so this boat really isn't my cup of tea, but everyone's taste is different so I do think this boat will provide a ton of value to the next owner. Let me know what you think in the comments. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Asking Price: $140,000 More Information: https://knot10.com/boat/1976-gulfstar-52-independence-motorsailer/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make sure you make an informed decision on your next boat with this tool: http://sailingsoulianis.com/shop/ltl-boat-buying-dashboard/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat. Here we go again! This is the beginning of the new adventure, the biggest adventure of my life, sailing my 36 foot sailing boat out into the big blue. Come with me. This week I finally get away and head to sea. With a friend along for the first few days, we visit the Beautiful Cornish town of Fowey before my last stop in England, Falmouth. Many thanks to Richard Williamson for the cool drone footage. I'd love you to thumbs up and subscribe here on Youtube. Also 'like' my Facebook page 'Adventures of on old Seadog' for 'realtime' updates and chat. This is episode 33 of an ongoing web series. Thanks so much for watching. Safe sailing to all.x
What happened onboard Malizia - Seaexplorer since the start on Sunday. 💬 Morning message from Boris 📬 "Dear friends. Small update from the sea: A very strong metal part holding a sail up broke the evening before yesterday at nightfall. (Code zero lock) When the sail fell down its halyard ripped a 26 cms long hole in the face of the mast at the top. The sail fell in the water and got pierced on the foil. We managed to pull it back on board. With reefed sails we can now continue to sail. And once we have managed to put carbon over the crack we can sail almost back at 100%. Right now we are so slow because a high pressure caught us and we are with no wind in massive big waves. It’s a bit horrible being thrown around and seeing the sails suffer from slamming from side to side. We hope to be able to do the repair soon and resume proper sailing. Hopefully tomorrow. All in all we had quite a bit of bad luck in this leg: We started well and then lost out due to bad information on the aghulas current. (Not sure better info exists-tbc) This put us a bit behind holcim. Losing the sail made us loose more. Valuable miles. This added lead to us being caught up by the high pressure which holcim managed to escape. The team is amazingly positive. And has a strong morale. Myself I feel a bit shattered. Emotionally. Disappointed. But the great people around me show me the right attitude. Keep face and remain strong to achieve the dream of this round the world race. We thought about going back to Cape Town. This would be an easy reaction. The race could be continued from itajai. But We now all agree to try and continue. It takes of course even more mental strength then such an endeavor takes anyhow. The day we stand on the dock in itajai I will be super proud. These long races are incredibly challenging. I send u some photos. Send us some good luck, 10 knots of wind and flat seas." What a great lesson of determination, resilience and team spirit. As you read this, the crew is repairing the mast. 🍀 To be continued…
We head offshore on a 6 day passage from Kavieng, Papua New Guinea to the extremely remote Hermit Islands in the Pacific Ocean. https://www.sailingnandji.com In this Episode of Sailing Nandji, we are in Kavieng, Papua New Guinea. We visit the local market and prepare for our next passage. Heading out to sea we embark on a 400nm to the remote Hermit Islands. These islands are a long way from anywhere and very remote. If we need help, it is not coming anytime soon! Sailing so close to the equator means long periods of no wind and flapping sails. Lots of squalls with heavy rain and strong winds followed by hot clear skies. Most people imagine that the ocean is full of huge waves bigger than sky scrapers and strong winds like a non stop cyclone. In the doldrums, it is more like a desolate desert leaving you pining for a breeze... We love our time sailing offshore, as there are always highlights and tough times on long passages, that is what makes sailing offshore such a memorable experience! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We just arrived to Indonesia after cruising the Pacific islands. We departed Australia 12 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades! SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL. https://www.youtube.com/c/frothlyfesailingnandji CLICK THE BELL to know when NEW Nandji videos are up! We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others. We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! We moved onto our 38 foot monohull in 2014, sailed across the Atlantic twice, cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and Europe, before buying a brand new 45 ft catamaran! We hope you enjoy what we do. NB! The video has only just been uploaded. YouTube is still busy preparing the different versions and resolutions. If the video doesn't work on mobile right now try again in a few hours :) I wanted to publish the video before heading to bed. In this video, I go over the projects that I'd like to get done this summer. The goal is to have the boat ready for me to move aboard in the fall. The rest of the refit I'll handle while living board. Oh, and there's a bit of sanding too. I love me some sanding! ;) I need to remove all the old epoxy primer so that I can deal with some osmosis (blistering on the hull).

Bonita goes shopping and completes the provisioning. She decided to visit Aldi, we have never shopped there but heard they were cheap. After filling one shopping trolley, she still had money to play with and returned to fill another two! We spend quality time with our fur baby Marley man. We explain the circumstances why he is unable to travel with us at this stage. Marley needs a few rounds of needles to be able to get back into Australia and they need to be 3 months apart. We are currently working on getting all of his jabs and having him flown to us once he is ready to travel overseas. Watching weather closely, we decide on a departure date and get everything in order with customs and prepare ourselves men tally for what lies ahead. Good bye Australia, hello adventure time!! I was fortunate enough to get onboard the Sunreef 60 Power while she was here in Fort Lauderdale. What an impressive boat. I was blown away by how much larger she felt than the Sunreef 60 Sail, or any other 60ft power catamarans for that matter. See the link below for the brochure: https://bit.ly/Sunreef60PowerCatamaran If you are interested in more information, including pricing, please reach out to me directly. Ripropongo... E' davvero sempre bello vivere in rada?
