We first came into contact with Laura Dekker 16 years ago when she was on her epic circumnavigation and spotted a MiniCat sailing in Bora Bora. After living in the area for 4 1/2 years and always wondering what was inside the caves at Sunset Beach, we FINALLY got an opportunity to adventure out there. People are not allowed to climb on the Island, because it is a bird sanctuary, so we stayed on the beach below. The water is usually pretty cold in Coos Bay, Oregon, making it undesirable to adventure out too far. The caves were spectacular and finding the hidden 3rd cave was very exciting!
