On with our sailboat restoration. We are installing our brand new rudder shoe and the recently rebuilt rudder for our 1985 Pearson 34 sailboat. I did an earlier video on the rudder removal and issues associated with the restoration of our rudder. Here we show you the process we had to go through to install the new rudder and rudder shoe. This was a very critical installation as we the new rudder shoe does not come pre-drilled. So we had to align and measure in order to drill the holes in the proper place. On slip and we would have had to buy a new shoe and those things are expensive. This process took 2 days and I included lots of captions throughout the video so you can see how to install the rudder, things to watch for and what the end product looks like. Celina is still not recovered yet from the theft more than a month ago. However I would like to share this video with you which was made in November 2022. Celina came basically ready to sail, however as boat owner you will never have an empty to-do list. During our maintenance weeks we applied new anti-fouling, a new livery, we took care of previous damages and sealed the windows. Today we rented a buggy and are taking an island tour of Canouan. We saw amazing views, a large number of red footed, tortoises, and lots of fruit and vegetables. The people here are so friendly, we know why people call the Caribbean’s best kept secret. Dafür haben wir uns einen Katamaran gekauft, mit dem wir Anfang März 2021 von der französischen Atlantikküste auf die Barfußroute gestartet sind. Seit vielen Jahren war eine Weltumsegelung mein (Hannes) großer Traum, den ich berufsbedingt zum Renteneintrittsalter verwirklichen wollte. Manchmal kommt das Leben aber anders als man plant. Im Frühjahr 2020 erhielt ich die Diagnose Morbus Parkinson. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März 2021geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Plan International ist ein internationales Kinderhilfswerk. Auf unserer Reise wollen wir nicht nur in Traumbuchten chillen sondern Programmländer von Plan besuchen und die dortige Arbeit dokumentieren. Wintering in Tunisia turns out to be a lot better than we assumed it would be, with a great liveaboard community and a town that stays open all year round. Cap Monastir marina was surprisingly good, with cafe's and restaurants a plenty. Monastir is a great base to travel in Tunisia, and we explore a few tourist sites that definitely shouldn't be missed. We biked and explored the stunning island of Gili T. We snorkled with turtles. Shane took his PADI open water where he had the most epic dive and we had a surprise swim with a tiger shark.

La promesse d’une immersion dans la beauté sauvage de Céphalonie nous a poussés à chausser nos chaussures de randonnée et à nous aventurer dans ce paradis verdoyant. Dès nos premiers pas sur les sentiers sinueux, nous avons été enveloppés par la fraîcheur de l’air montagnard, chargé des senteurs des pins et des fleurs sauvages. Le chemin, bordé de rochers et d’arbustes, nous a conduits à travers des paysages à couper le souffle, où la nature semble s’épanouir dans toute sa splendeur. On découvre notre premier mouillage sur l'île d' Ithaque, le Nomade est juste en dessous de la fontaine Aréthuse. Nous ferons des sauts de puce pendant quelques jours et nous nous mettrons à l'abri à Vaty pour laisser passer le coup de vent et les violents orages prévus. This is your weekly Global Sailing Highlights show, the World on Water, for August 29 2025. The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup was launched in 1980 by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, and welcomed Rolex as a Title Sponsor five years later. In 2025 the prestigious club will pay tribute to its founder, His Late Highness Aga Khan IV, who passed away in February, but whose forward-looking vision led to the creation of an institution that has become an international benchmark in yachting. An International Jury has awarded redress to Team Holcim-PRB after their Leg 1 collision with Allagrande Mapei Racing in Kiel Germany. Both teams retired from the opening stage, but Holcim-PRB will now earn Leg 1 points based on their average performance across Legs 2–5. No further penalties were issued, and both crews say they’re eager to put the incident behind them and focus on the race ahead. The seven IMOCA teams left the ancient port city to begin the 650-nautical-mile leg 3the Mediterranean to Nice France. The fleet set off in 12 to 17 knots of north-easterly breeze, tacking along the Spanish coast toward the first scoring gate at Cabo de Palos. The conditions on leg 3 are expected to be complex, with a low-pressure system moving into the western Mediterranean that could produce anything from strong upwind battles to fast downwind runs. On the morning of Monday, August 25, the yachts participating in the Aegean Regatta set sail for Agios Efstratios, in the 24th edition of the international sailing race that continues to make history across the beautiful Aegean Sea. Dublin Bay delivered a full test of stamina and skill on day two of the 2025 Ilca Under-21 World Championships, with some clear leaders beginning to emerge. South-east winds gusting up to 25 knots brought exhilarating downwind surfing and short, steep two-metre seas, putting fitness and hiking technique firmly to the test. Tired but upbeat sailors came ashore looking forward to recovery time before more fresh conditions in the coming days. Doug DeVos' American Magic Quantum Racing emerge with a slender one point lead overall at the end of a long mentally and physically demanding three race programme on Day 3 on the Bay of Palma at Puerto Portals 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week in Mallorca. The 2025 Fireball World Championship kicked off in record-breaking style, hosted by Circolo Vela Arco and running on the waters of Lake Garda – Trentino until Friday, 29 August. This major international event will be followed in early September by the Italian Single-Handed Championships. A total of 136 boats from 14 nations are competing, the largest Fireball fleet ever assembled outside the Anglo-Saxon countries in the class’s history.
