The Emirati capital Abu Dhabi moves firmly into the sporting spotlight in the coming days with the first ever ISAF Sailing World Cup Final being held off Lulu Island from 27-30 November. Some 27 British sailors are set to compete across ten events at next week’s inaugural season-ending World Cup Final, introduced by ISAF to provide a greater showcase to the annual elite Olympic Classes series. The British contingent will join invited competitors from 38 other nations battling it out in the ten Olympic classes, with an open kiteboarding event also forming part of the World Cup spectacle, with sailors having qualified via positions at the Santander World Championships, world ranking positions or via last month’s leg of the World Cup series in Qingdao, China. While a number of British Sailing Team stars – including Giles Scott, and 470 pairings Hannah Mills-Saskia Clark and Luke Patience-Elliot Willis – have opted not to take up their invitations this time around, there will still be a heavy-hitting GBR cast in attendance, aiming for the podium spots and a share of the US$200,000 prize purse.

Wir heißen zwar Segler-Club Oberspree e.V (SCO), liegen aber an der Unterhavel. Das der SCO an der Unterhavel liegt ist Umständen zu verdanken, die typisch für die Berliner Geschichte sind. Gegründet wurde der SCO am 24. Juni 1906 im Restaurant "Zu den drei Linden" in Grünau. 1912 wurde die Große Rohrwall-Insel in der Dahme, am südöstlichen Rande Berlins gepachtet, gleichzeitig wurde der SCO Gründungsmitglied des "Deutschen Segler-Bundes", der später in den Deutschen Segler-Verband aufging und stellte dort für zehn Jahren mit Robert Höfer sogar den Bundesvorsitzenden. Der Große Rohrwall nun ging nach dem Krieg in die Verfügungsgewalt der DDR über, was die im westlichen Berlin wohnenden Mitglieder motivierte, 1954 den "Segler-Club Oberspree e.V." in West-Berlin zu gründen. 1966 konnte ein Grundstück in Berlin-Kladow gepachtet und wenige Jahre später mit einem in Eigenarbeit erstellten Clubhaus ausgestattet werden. This helped the schedule recover following no races yesterday due to a lack of wind. Stand-out performer today was Chris Bake’s Team Aqua, which, much like Hugues Lepic’s Aleph Racing on day one, scored no race worse than a fifth place. Her resounding 2-5-2-1 scoreline has left Bake’s team with a useful eight point advantage going into the final day. Today I hitched a ride on one of the TowBoatUS boats to do a couple pick ups and drop offs near the coast of San Diego California. The first was to a nearly one thousand foot long oil tanker to drop off a technician and some gear. Got to work on my bowlines as we hoisted his gear up the side of the massive ship. Learn your knots folks! The second stop was to a cruise ship called Ruby Princess. We were taking a crew member back home for his holiday leave and delivering some Covid 19 tests that would be headed to the hospital once ashore. It was eerie to pull up to basically a gigantic ghost ship with no passengers that has orders just to drift until further notice. Overall another successful and exciting day boating in San Diego. You never know what you will get yourself into ON THE DOCKS.. Thanks for watching!

Stucked due to the wind Inblåsta Peniche. No sailing winds Stucked. Sailing Portugal. Segla Portugal. Vi fick hänga här över 15 dagar men det var ett fantastiskt mysigt ställe att vara inblåsta på. Även om vi var här så länge känns det som om vi hann inte med allt att se. Det kan bero på att vädret var dåligt men också på att vi hade så bra uppkoppling så vi streamade film hela tiden. Vi fick ju också influensan. We had to hang out here over 15 days but it was a fantastic cozy place to be inspired. Even though we were here for so long, it feels like we didn't have time to see everything. In this episode of Short Stories, we captured the footage from our first Customer Training Day. It’s our vision to make boating as easy and enjoyable as possible so our customers can get the most out of their boat and we know an important part of that is providing support so they’re as comfortable and confident as they can be. We partnered with industry colleagues and experts to run 5 different workshops for customers to come and learn how to get the most out of their boats. With reps from Simrad, Garmin and Furuno passing on their expert knowledge in an Electronics Masterclass, giving customers the opportunity to learn how to fine-tune their boat technology and utilise its features to the extreme. Yamaha joined us for the day to demonstrate how to reach a whole new level of control with Yamaha’s new full manoeuvrability helm master; helping customers be more confident in their docking abilities and understanding their boat control system. Our favourite Grady-White resident, Eric Sorenson came out from the US to give tips on how to handle and dock your boat confidently; while Alex, the owner of Fishing Station - Sydney’s Premier Fishing and Tackle Store, demonstrated how to rig your rod to catch the biggest and best fish, and tips on where to find them and when. And lastly, a Short Marine special Service and Maintenance workshop to coach customers on the best practices when it comes to looking after their boat.
