These portlights come in pairs and in two versions: 1. Straight Deadlight - Does not Open 2. Deadlight with integrated Portlight and Screen. A deadlight is a window that does not open. A Portlight is a window that opens. Just FYI. These are very nice windows and I can’t wait to install them! But until I do, here is the unboxing of the new arrival. The leg from Catania to Messina took us 11-12 hours and another 7 hours went from Messia to the Aeolian Islands. On the way there we observed the eruption of the Stromboli volcano (one of the islands of the Lipari archipelago). We arrived on the island of Lipari (the largest island of the archipelago) by 7 pm. November 23-25, 2020 -------------------------------------- In this episode, we sail off early in the morning from Gijón, Spain for quite a long, lazy passage to Viveiro – about a 100nm-passage….so we arrived an anchorage just outside of the port entrance along the Cove Beach in the pitch dark…. Luckily there was plenty of room for us with only 1 other boat anchored there who had a captain named Bart. Viveiro is a small, pretty and historic town sitting at the mouth of the River Landro, it's first settlements going back to the Iron Age. It's a sleepy fishing town nestled into a sheltered inlet on Galicia’s wild and unpredictable coast, even more lethargic during the Pandemic. We go on a short sight-seeing tour in the vacant streets of Old Town - partly because of the pandemic, maybe partly due to siesta. There we see two of the cultural “gems” of the town, the Gate of Carlos V & the Bridge of Mercy with 9 arches (originally 12). But, we spend most of our time exploring the rugged, stunning coastline. Only a few nautical miles away was a popular natural attraction in the cliffs called Maiden's Cove - a hole that overlooks the sea. Since it was a long drive away, but a shorter distance on sea, we decided to try to find it by dingy... See what we find! And, stay tuned for our sail to A Coruna and all the fun we have there in the stunning, lively & important coastal city. A Coruna also marks the beginning of a long-lasting friendship with our new buddy boat – Enfant Terrible. Thanks for tuning in! The Swiss Sailing League is a success story. Founded in 2015 it is now the most established sailing format in Switzerland for amateurs. The Swiss Sailing League Association (SSLA) is owned by 41 Swiss sailing clubs. Started with a Super and Challenge League, the Promotion League (also known as 3rd league) was added. Successful is the Master Cup (all of the team members shall be 50 or +). The true success story was the launch of the Women Club Sailing in 2022; now SSLA runs the Women Super and Challenge League with each 12 club teams. SSLA owns 8 J/70 boats that will be provided at every event (currently 23 events!). Markus will leave Swiss Sailing League end of 2025 and hands over the steering wheel to Fabian and the existing board. The big celebration of the 10th anniversary will take place in Versoix, October 3-5, 2025, with a double event (Finals of the Super and Challenge League) and the Presidential race.
