#Après une super cala sur Minorque , on prend la route de Mahon. On va d'abord prendre un mouillage à l'entrée de mahon. Cala Teulera à 20mn en annexe de Mahon. Ensuite on se rapprochera de mahon, sur un ponton flottant face à la ville. Viendra ensuite le depart vert la Sardaigne. On quittera l'Espagne, les Baléares, pour l'Italie. Encore une étape de notre voyage.

The original steering system on the Vision 444 was hydraulic, which did not provide the level of feedback James Turner sought to deliver. The steering system is now mechanical; created 100% in-house with a chain and high-tech rope system. At the back of the steering wheel is a sprocket and chain, which interfaces to Dyneema and then another high-tech rope material, goes through some sheaves to point the lines back to the transom area, then through an elaborate welded piece of kit that routes the forces to the rudder stocks. The Auto-Helm ram is now located just under the aft access hatch at the top of the starboard sugar scoop, up out of the way from the elements. Want more? Happy new year all. Never one to copy and be a sheep, but I have copied and I am a sheep. New Years day saw me dig out the running shoes and go trueing around the streets, all with one thing in mind. Get boat fit!! Now boat fit I have always said is different to being fit for a boat, or indeed being fit. What am I on about??!! I thin I am saying you can be boat fit, which is being at one with the boat and being able to get around with ease because you become used to your surrounds and being at sea, even if you are technically unfit. Then there is what I am trying to do which is get fitter to allow me to carry off better manoeuvres and not to be so exhausted after each. I am not fitness guru. DO NOT listen to anything I say with regards fitness. In short this video is the start of my attempt to loose weight, and get fitter for the double handed sailing escapades that are to come this year and after. Will I manage to shed an ounce of weight? Will I be able to run any further than the end of the road? Who the hell knows. What this video is not, is a fitness video. It is not the start of something differenent. Boats will return in their normal format in the next video. I have forgotten how much I like to talk absolute twiddle in these bits. It is much fun. I think I would like to go off at a random canter pace now, about British politics, social unfairness and pigmentation of Cornish seaweed. I won't though. Déjà notre dernière étape sur le continent sud-américain ! Un peu plus de 4 mois passés en Amazonie ; entre le Brésil et la Guyane, quelle aventure ! Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni fût une très belle dernière escale. Et je ne dis pas ça seulement parce que j’y ai retrouvé mon cousin ! C’est simplement la ville la plus agréable et la plus belle de Guyane. Entre son passé de ville pénitentiaire, ses beaux édifices à l’architecture coloniale, ses différents quartiers où se mêle une population métissée, la rive le long du Maroni et la nature luxuriante, Saint-Laurent est une étape à ne pas manquer. Nous avons bien sûr visité et découvert les essentiels : le camp de la Transportation (le bagne), le quartier officiel, le marché, quelques villages alentours comme Javouhey. Avec David et sa fille Lucile, nous goutons à la température rafraichissante de la crique Tatou : petite cascade au milieu de la forêt, endroit bucolique et impression d’être seuls au monde. Ils nous font aussi découvrir plantes, fruits, et fleurs qui poussent tout autour d’eux mais si exotiques pour nous ! Je peux dire aussi que j’ai nagé avec des piranhas ! Le Maroni quant à lui est très puissant et nous sommes heureux d’être l’esprit tranquille à la bouée : c’est un autre Davide qui tient cette « marina » au bord du fleuve. Enfin, la piscine, la boulangerie et les autres facilités qu’offre un département français nous permettent d’y passer 2 semaines en tout confort. This M420 is Laura's own MiniCat, she keeps in on board her sailboat 'Guppy' through her Laura Dekker World Sailing Foundation. Traum geplatzt.., Schiff verkauft, doch die Reiselust ist ungebrochen und der Pazifik unser Traumziel geblieben. Die Welt- Kreuzfahrt ist nur ein Ersatz, bringt uns aber immerhin zu unseren verpassten Traumzielen! While sailing from Santa Barbara to Catalina Island, we flew a spinnaker along the inland coast of Catalina. We weren't making one of the points of land we needed to in order to get to Avalon, and needed to gybe. This video shows how that gybe went fairly wrong. If you're going to learn anything from this, I think it would be not to call your gybe too early, and when short handed especially in heavier wind (22 knots here) it's best to do outside gybes. We had a very successful gybe a few days before, inside the Santa Barbara Channel, so maybe we felt a little cocky, but this definitely took us down a notch.

Is this some of the best footage we have made? As always we tell it how it is and in Fethiye and Marmaris we were literally bobbing around in raw sewage just yards from the swimming beaches. We are paying 400TL to be pumped out and yet we have never in 4 years seen a commercial vessel get pumped out. But we have seen a lot empty their tanks very close to us in secluded bays. Or just outside them.... Tersan island becomes an anchorage that untenable. We and two other boat have to do a quick exit to better holding. Then there is the best lightning show ever and and wild boar wandering along the beach... What a cracking episode if we say so ourselves! Let us know what you think in the comments.
