Join us for the raw reality of offshore sailing across the North Pacific Ocean: the weather that humbles you, the decisions that save you, and the ocean that teaches you that getting there safely matters more than getting there quickly. Atlantic Focaccia Recipe: 500g flour (4 cups) 500ml water (2cups) 10g salt (2 teaspoon) 8g yeast (2 teaspoon) 1 teaspoon of honey Mix yeast, 1 cup of water and honey together. Wait for bubbles to form on surface of water. Then mix in all other ingredients. Soak in olive oil. Plastic wrap and put in fridge (leave some room to rise). Take out of fridge and put in baking tray. Leave 2-4hrs to rise. Add flakey sea salt and rosemary and dimple with fingers. Oven high till golden brown. Take out of tray to let cool down. This rarely occurs and mainly causes issues in the public anchorage. It was caused by a sucking weather system as Tropical Storm Ernesto (predicted to become Hurricane Ernesto) barrelled through the Caribbean far north of Trinidad, bringing wind up from South America across the Gulf of Paria. With the anchorage being far more exposed in that direction, conditions deteriorated, exacerbated by waves bouncing off the boats and shores. Elsewhere on the island there was flooding, with some roads becoming impassable and rivers turning into rapids. Hey Banana Family, In this episode we continue on our sailing journey adventuring all the islands of the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. My sister and her family are still with us on the boat. We start the day off with a calm morning. We loaded up the dinghy and headed to White Bay to see the famous Soggy Dollar Bar. We had visited Jost Van Dyke years ago in 2015 when Karver was just a baby so we were excited to come back and see how it had changed. There were so many new structures built that it didn't even look the same! Some of our favorite boat buddies joined us and we had a great day on the beach drinking Pain Killers and watching the kids play. Afterwards we headed back to the boat and had a nice dinner of Potato Soup and homemade rolls on the boat. The next morning we woke up bright and early and headed to Norman Island. We set anchor there and once again got back into the dinghy with everyone to check out a dive spot. There wasn't a ton to see, but the boys found a lobster and that was exciting. My sister needed to help her son Ridge with his snorkel gear and unknowingly sat on fire coral! Her butt was so red and swollen. Amber on Everyday Saturday told us to put vinegar and meat tenderizer on it to help with the pain. I helped rub it all over her butt while many boaters passed by laughing. It was pretty funny and she was such a trooper. The following day we sailed to Virgin Gorda for the much anticipated Baths. We caught a mooring ball there and swam into the beach. Things had changed quite a bit from the last time we were there. We headed to the pool/restaurant at the top of the baths first. We ate a snack and got some drinks prior to walking the super hot sandy path down to the large rocks. We spent the day exploring The Bath's of the BVI's. It really is one of the coolest places we have been. Afterwards, we did some snorkeling around the rocks. We motored to Cooper Island for the night and got some dinner at the local restaurant on the beach. The kids were pretty tired so just us adults went out for the night to hang out and chat. The next day we did a big sail back to Charlotte Amalie. The Hanson's were staying their last night at the resort there before catching the ferry the following morning. We spam in the pool there, looked at boats and then said our goodbyes. There was a storm coming and we needed to get to Peter Island that evening. We were hoping to do this before dark but unfortunately we didn't make it and ended up having to anchor with flash lights in the dark. Not ideal. The next morning was kamden's 13th Birthday! He really wanted to spend it with Colette so we did a quick motor to Long Beach in the US Virgin Islands. We anchored next to Colette and they spent the day doing watersports. That night they invited us over to celebrate Kamden. It was so sweet, they had decorated their boat with Happy Birthday Banners and Ellie even made Kamden a homemade cake. We were so grateful for their kindness and it made Kamden's entire birthday!

More about us at www.sweetruca.com So who is this crazy sailing couple making fun videos to share? Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Our boat is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. We spent 6 months re-fitting it in Rhode Island and then went for our shakedown voyage in Maine. We stopped in Annapolis for a bit to do some more refit work and offshore modifications, then we set off to the open sea. We went to the Bahamas, Miami, US Virgin Islands, BVI, Grenada, Carriacou, St. Maarten, where we enjoyed outdoor adventures, scuba diving, and have now did an Atlantic Crossing to the Azores where we had a chance to fly our DJI drone (and learned how to fly a drone from a boat) and one of our favorite past times, mountain biking. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We watched other sailing channels before we left as well. We even considered van life, a tiny home, or a motorhome / rv. Some of the channels we enjoyed were Gone with the Wynns, Project Atticus, and MJ Sailing. We didn't really set out to be influencers, but we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. Em-Trak AIS, dancing, shower, deck, liveaboard, wildlife Living aboard a sailboat, what are the pros and cons? Life on a sailboat is a lot of fun and a lot of hard work. This time on Sailing Intermission we repair and paint some areas on the deck. The aft shower stall needed some repair. Our AIS unit was shipped to Em-trak since they stated that the work would be covered under warranty. After receiving and diagnosing the unit, Em-trak refused to cover the repairs under warranty. We are so very disappointed in their customer service. Looks like we’ll be shopping for a new AIS unit of a different brand.
