On Tuesday, August 9th, 2022, at about noon, I had a stroke. Let me share what I experienced, felt, and what it led to. I am only 54 years old and in decent health (nonsmoker, non-drug user, drink socially), and I had a stroke. In this video, I will share why I am lucky, and also what I didn't do right and what I will change if I ever feel this way again. Please do share this with family members as I expected a stroke to have some meaningful feeling, but in the end, it didn't, and you need to know what I felt and how you will know if things aren't right with you. Taking action is critically important within 2 to 3 hours of it happening!!!!

Join us on this episode of the podcast as we speak with Jeff and Valerie Mathews about the lifestyle change they made that took them from land to water on a bluewater cruising journey. As entrepreneurs and business owners, both Jeff and Valerie intimately understand the art of taking calculated risks and embracing the unknown. They share candidly about overcoming challenges, including a particularly uncomfortable bluewater passage, and how these experiences have reshaped their perspectives on life's priorities. Tune in to discover how they navigated the contrasting realms of "land logic" and "boat logic" and gained a newfound appreciation for setting "realistic" expectations. The result: a better relationship with their children, family and community of friends. #BluewaterCruising #SailingZatara #Sailing #Sail #Yatching 0:00 Intro 5:03 "She used my dream against me to retire" - Genius! 9:17 If we sell the boat...What's next? 10:58 Money isn't really the "security" 17:28 How family communication improved across international waters 19:53 Expectations vs. Reality - "The Cockroach Story" 23:28 Buying an Opportunity Boat" (then getting mad!) 29:46 Taking a 1200 mile passage with failing systems... 34:55 "Boat" logic vs "Land" logic 43:49 Having community is a game changer! 48:46 The first passage...USVI to Florida Keys 53:43 The good times on the other side of perseverance 59:40 Balancing life & making what's important, IMPORTANT 1:03:33 Would we do it again?

For several years now, Beyond the Sea has been developing solutions tailored to various needs. LibertyKite®, designed for boats of 12 to 65 feet (4 to 20 meters) in length, is a self-stabilizing emergency sail that has also found recreational use. SeaKite® is for use on ships from 80 to 300 feet (25 to 90 meters) with an automated system designed to significantly reduce fuel consumption. Sitting between the two, Dynakite is aimed at vessels from 40 to 100 feet (12 to 30 meters). “Dynakite is designed for cruising catamarans and powercats from 12 to 30 meters (40 to 100 feet). It is an intermediate solution, in terms of both performance and price, perfectly suited to this sector,” explains Antoine Dechaufour, Sales Director. The system’s architecture is deliberately simple: a boom, an electric winch, and a kite connected by two lines. The whole thing can be deployed or furled away in just a few minutes. “We like to call it “plug & kite”. The idea is to make this technology accessible to everyone, without any complicated learning curve,” continues Antoine. This decisive simplicity allows everyone to immediately enjoy this alternative to using the engine. First and foremost, Dynakite provides additional safety: in the event of engine failure or dismasting, it offers independent propulsion, capable of maintaining the boat at a speed of 4 to 8 knots depending on conditions. It also reduces fuel consumption by an average of 20 to 30% on long passages for multipowers, an obvious ecological and economic gain. Finally, it opens the door to a different kind of sailing. “Many customers initially buy a kite for safety reasons, then discover that they use it for pleasure. At 6 or 7 knots, with the engines off, you’re free enjoy the ocean in a different way,” says Antoine. ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests!

Two more outstanding performances by the brilliant Yandoo crew of John Winning Jr, Fang Warren and Lewis Brake, on Sydney Harbour today, has given the defending champion team an almost unbeatable lead in the JJ Giltinan 18ft Skiff World Championship, presented by The Winning Group, with only two more races still to be sailed on the weekend. In a SSE 15knots breeze, Yandoo took out the first race (Race 6) by 22s from Lazarus Capital Partners (Tom Cunich, Marc Chapon and Tim Westwood) with Vaikobi (Kirk Mitchell, Andrew Stephenson and Daniel Barnett) a further 39s back in third place. Queensland’s Big Foot Bags & Covers (Dave Hayter) finished in fourth place ahead of Shaw and Partners Financial Services-Australia (Keagan York), Sixt (Jacob Marks), Smeg (Ash Rooklyn), GC Sails (Scott Cunningham, Queensland), Fisher & Paykel (Brett Van Munster) and The Kitchen Maker (Lachlan Steel) in tenth place. Yandoo’s performance in the latter race (Race 7) was even more impressive as the crew were once again faultless to defeat a very hard challenging Shaw and Partners Financial Services-Australia by 42s with Shaw and Partners Financial Services-New Zealand (Eli Liefting) another 31s back in third place. The German Black Knight team, led by Heinrich von Bayern, finished in fourth place ahead of Sixt, GC Sails, The Kitchen Maker, Brisbane 18 Footers (Josh Sloman, Queensland), Smeg and New Zealand’s ASCC (Campbell Stanton). After each boat has discarded its worst race result to date, the scoreboard shows the net positions as Yandoo leading on 8 points, followed by Shaw and Partners Financial services-Australia on 19. GC Sails is third on 34 points, followed by Black Knight on 41, Shaw and Partners Financial Services-New Zealand on 44. Three teams, Lazarus Capital Partners, Vaikobi and Sixt are all equal on 45 points, followed by Smeg on 47 and in tenth place ASCC on 49 points. Race 6: Racing today was over the South-Short Course, and it ws Big Foot Bags & Covers which grabbed an early 13s lead on the beat from the start in Athol Bay to the weather mark off Clark Island. Andoo-USA (Mikey Radziejowski) was in second place, ahead of Sixt, Lazarus and Shaw and Partners-Australia. The spinnaker run to Chowder Bay was a very tight angle which forced teams to drop their spinnakers. The Big Foot crew were under pressure but held off the challengers to reach the Chowder Bay mark with a 4s advantage over Lazarus, Andoo-USA, Vaikobi, Yandoo, Sixt, The Kitchen Maker, Shaw and Partners-Australia and GC Sails. The next leg was a beat across the harbour to the mark off Shark Island and the contest was close as Yandoo closed on Big Foot and Lazarus. Experienced crew work won out for the Yandoo team which took the lead and headed for Athol Bay under spinnaker ahead of a group including Big Foot, Lazarus, Sixt, Vaikobi, Andoo-USA and Shaw and Partners-Australia. Yandoo held a 10s lead over Lazarus at the end of the spinnaker run but was under pressure on the next beat to Clark Island. Lazarus actually crossed Yandoo but the champion crew came back strongly to re-take the lead and head for the finish back at Athol Bay with a 9s margin over a determined Lazarus team. Race 7: The young Queensland crew on Brisbane 18 Footers led from the start but more wonderful crew work from the Yandoo’s crew saw them. 20s ahead of Shaw and Partners-New Zealand with the Brisbane 18 Footers back in third place ahead of Fisher & Paykel. They were closely followed by a group including Lazarus, Sixt, Shaw and Partners-Australia, The Oak Double Bay-4 Pines (Hugo Stoner) and GC Sails. The spinnaker run to Chowder Bay in this race was far more predictable than the earlier race and the New Zealand Shaw and Partners challenged strongly the test Yandoo to the limit. The kiwi team got to within 17s of Yandoo but from that point in the race the defending champs were never headed. Race officials shortened the course to eliminate the final spinnaker run from Clark Island to Athol Bay and Yandoo crossed the finish line in lighter wind to score a comfortable 42s victory. The experience of the Yandoo crew is dominant and the trio rarely make a mistake (if ever) and there looks to be no competitor in the fleet that will be able to stop them from taking out a third consecutive Giltinan World championship. ► Although the TH33 was unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival back in September, sea trials weren’t available to be undertaken until this spring in Jupiter, Florida, and then in Cannes, which is where we headed to check out how Jeanneau’s smallest powercat performed at sea. ► Here’s our quick take on it before we share the full test report with you: powered by a pair of 300-HP Mercury V8s, the small catamaran is capable of exceeding 30 knots and it handles choppy seas very well. Tight turns are accompanied by a slight heel that may surprise those accustomed to monohull craft. Handling is made easier by the joystick, which eliminates the need for a bow thruster. ► While the TH33 presents itself as a high-end day cruiser with comfortable seating and a fully equipped dashboard, it also features a heads compartment and even a cabin (albeit a small one). The deck offers almost 400 square feet (37 m²) of usable space, and we particularly liked the central passageway, the aft platform, and the mixed rigid/canvas T-Top (available as an option). ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Jeanneau Hull length: 31’10” (9.7 m) Beam: 12’7” (3.83 m) Draft: 2’ (0.62 m) Air draft: 12’ (3.65 m) Light displacement (inc. motors): 12,475 lbs 5.66 t Max. power: 2 x 300 HP outboards Fuel: 237 US gal (900 l) Water: 25 US gal (95 l) Price: € 354,000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! IT CAME DOWN TO THE WIRE DESPITE THE ‘HEAT’ From Disaster to Triumph The temperature hit 35 plus degrees in the sun and that was agony as the crews waited to get a final start for almost 3 hours. With the breeze literally switching thru 180 degrees of the compass, to their credit the race committee waited just one minute before the official cut off time to lower the AP flag to get the race away. On que Sydney Harbour delivered with a 15 knot North Easter to see the fleet scream to the top mark. Where we reported yesterday it was supposed tp be a three horse race for the title; very quickly it became a battle Royale with Sutech buried at the start, and for them it was game over. It was a classic match race with Manly Surf n Slide taking the lead with Brydens in hot pursuit. It stayed that way to the finish and that was reflected in the overall result. Manly Surf n Slide winners of the championship with the final result split by a mere 3 seconds from Byrdens. Taking Bronze were the lads from Sutech, but not far behind was TJS and Southern Beaches Rugby and Growthbuilt. The results page lists the rest of the champions in hot pursuit. Whilst in the 13 foot class it was “Mighty-Mite” who took the lead from the beginning and they protected their position to ensure they went home with the silverware; closely followed by Bartley Construction and Big Foot rounding out with the Bronze medal for third overall. As we have repeatedly reported, the gap in the 13 class was so small in elapsed time; we have the future of the class well in hand.

#tdf2019 #velo4g #broadcastrf This year, I am happy to be testing out our Velo4G on bike cameras for the first time with the Tour de France. This is a little behind the scenes of what it looks like as a 4G camera operator in the truck. We have control of up to 26 cameras, and at any time can activate multiple cameras and send the video feed from the camera via a central vision server to the playout server where it will be mixed into the program. The video bitrates of the cameras will be anywhere between 500kbs to 4mbs depending on the terrain and coverage and it is possible to steer the cameras onto different networks if the current network is not good for coverage. We have a plan of which riders are wearing the cameras and the cameras are put onto different bikes every day and charged overnight. The battery runtime for a camera is 3 hours in TX mode plus 8 hours in Standby mode.
