The Southport 24 hour race is an endurance race / relay race which takes place over a weekend every September in Southport, England. The race has been going for over 50 years and is organised by West Lancs Yacht Club. We were helping out by organising a boat for Liverpool Yacht Club and our boat (Molly G) was used as an introduction to dinghy events for those members who had never participated in such an event before. There was another boat (Dicko) for the more serious racers and it placed about halfway in the final results. These had all been through the wash, with big glops of pine sap remaining. What I did: 1) Put 2.5 gallons of hot tap water in a 5 gallon bucket. 2) Put 2.5 scoops of OxyClean in bucket, stir. 3) Put clothes in bucket. 4) Soak for 6 hours (I occasionally stirred). 5) Start washing machine, set to "hot", and "small load" 6) Add OxyClean, scoop filled to line 3, and regular detergent. 7) Wait till machine fills with water. 8) Add clothes. Vlog#25 We sail out of Cabo San Lucas and off to get propane. We thought it would take a quick hour maybe! but it turned into an all day event. We called the day before and we were told that we could buy it at the marina fuel dock, but upon arrival, they didn't actually sell it there. So off onto a big adventure to try and get a ride there! We dandy plan on staying overnight there, but a quick stop in town, but turned out we had to as we didn't make it back to the boat until 530 at night. We left the next morning on our way to our next stop, Los Frailes. As we dropped the anchor, Jessica threw it into reverse to back down on the anchor, and nothing happened. We were dead in the water! After going ashore and asking everyone we could find, we finally found an extremely nice expat on the beach that let us borrow a tool we needed to fix our boat! They even radioed to us to let us know that there was a truck with fresh organic food if we wanted to come buy some, which of course we did!! It was amazing. The defender team started aggressively as they took the lead for the first race of the day. 🌊 However, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli quickly adapted to the circumstances and on the second race of the day they started off strongly, with some unforced errors by the Emirates Team New Zealand that pushed the distance between competing boats further away. Nonetheless, both teams did an incredible job in this first day of competition of what might just be the toughest sailing competition of the world. Yesterday we did a 90nm passage from Martinique to St. Vincent. Boat is fully loaded as we are going into 14d. quarantine. Lots of food, bottled water, beer, wine, full water tanks - 900L, full diesel tanks - 450L + 80L for genset. And of course all the spares and toys as usual for livaboards. And still on a nice breeze of 18kn and 120-130TWA we are averaging 9kn of boat speed with occasional 12kn down some small waves.

Leaving Fethiye after some more unsettled weather we headed to Boynuzbuku in the Gocek National park to make some water (water in the Fethiye harbour is polluted and not suitable for water desalination) and enjoy some Spring weather. We hoisted a new German crew flag and swapped out our sadly bedraggled maritime New Zealand flag for one I found in the Fethiye chandlery. They didnt have the maritime replacement but instead had one that was printed in anticipation of the NZ government changing its flag several years ago (which didnt happen) Its not an official New Zealand flag but since we cant find the right one .... and most of the commonwealth red ensigns are unrecognisable when hanging flat, we figured this would do for now. ...........................................................................
