Nela a praia do farol é uma das poucas protegidas dos ventos nordeste e leste. Fundo de areia e conta com bares e restaurantes por toda sua extensão. Sendo ótima para fundeio. Como estamos em período de pandemia, preferi me contentar com caminhadas, demoradas, pela praia sem me aventurar na vila. MinaMaria (sigam-a no insta, tb!) fez ótimas amizades com os donos da praia. Quatro lindos dogs, que a receberam com muitas corridas, banhos e cheiros. Tb, fui solicitado a fazer pequeno reboque a lancha do corpo de bombeiro, que nos fins de semana, destaca salva vidas, para ajudar os poucos banhistas, caso precisem. O reboque foi feito pelo bote de poio, mesmo... já que a maré corria mansamente. Gostando, comentem e deixem o like... assim a plataforma vai saber que os seguidores estão gostando do conteúdo e vão indicar os vídeos para outras pessoas. Charles writes...My only interest is finding a home for her - I don’t need money, just a home, so she can continue to be the incredible bit of Australian sailing history she deserves to be. Not flashy just fast & sea-worthy. I really can’t get across how beautifully she sails. Without exaggeration: the helm is perfectly balanced. I have enjoyed her sailing, single handed, from sitting on the cross trees half way up the mast, or hanging off the dolphin striker, perfectly confident the would hold her course, unattended. GLAD TIDINGS is really one of a kind in Australia. She never failed to receive compliments on the water, but more importantly never once misbehaved. I used to push her hard, under staysail & double reefed main in strong winds. Never a problem, always predictable. She carries her way, so picking up a mooring single handed was always easy.

Highlights from Race Day 4 of the 2022 Resolute Cup, held September 12 - 17 at the New York Yacht Club - Harbor Court in Newport, R.I. The 23 teams competing in the 2022 Resolute Cup arrived on Monday, September 12, for on-site registration and mandatory practice on Tuesday, September 13. Racing is scheduled to run Wednesday, September 14, through Saturday, September 17, starting each day at 1030. Teams will compete in a qualifying series during the first two days of racing. For the qualifying series, the fleet will be broken into two groups and each group will sail roughly half of its races in the RS21 and half in the Sonar. Teams will be randomly assigned to a boat, and follow a rotation schedule throughout racing each day. There will be no bye races. After the qualifying series is complete, the top six from each fleet will move on to compete in the Gold Series Finals in RS21s. The remaining teams will compete in the Silver Series Finals in Sonars. Finals will begin on Friday, September 16, and all teams will start with a zeroed-out scoreline. Ich verfolge verschiedene kleinere Werkstadtprojekte und baue die Reinigungs- und Sensoröffnungen in unsere Edelstahlwassertanks ein Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. IN THIS VIDEO: We left Mystic, CT and sailed south to Atlantic City, NJ, for a short trip as we've never been there before. During our passage, our main sail clew came loose, so Dennis got another opportunity to fix things while under sail. Fortunately it was a fairly simple fix, and within a short period of time we were back in business. Within an hour of arriving in Atlantic City, we met Steve and Desiree, two wonderful humans with whom we immediately bonded and had an incredible evening. Cooking at sea with a thermal cooker is a fantastic choice for its energy efficiency, safety, and ability to maintain heat while using minimal fuel. A thermal cooker, sometimes called a “wonder bag” or “haybox,” uses insulated walls to trap heat after you’ve initially brought your ingredients to a boil. Top four reasons to use a thermal cooker: - Energy Conservation: Once you’ve brought the food to a boil, no more fuel is needed. This is ideal for conserving gas or limited electricity on a boat. - Safety: Since it doesn’t require an open flame after the initial boiling, it reduces the risk of fire. - Stable Cooking: The cooker’s insulated pot design minimizes splashes and spills, making it easier to handle in rough seas. - Portability: It’s easy to store and doesn’t rely on electricity, making it versatile and travel-friendly. One of our favorite features is the excellent ventilation since we mostly live as "hookers" (aka at anchor) where the boat automatically turns into the wind so we stay cool and we don't need to battle mold. We also have starlink for easy off-grid life. Our 2400 watt solar panel array also means we rarely need to run an engine to charge our batteries. ABOUT US: We saved for a our future boat, sold everything that we owned, and shipped the rest in a container to Cape Town, South Africa. We then flew there and explored South Africa by way of a safari and touring Cape Town before moving aboard our boat. We then sailed to Saint Helena, Ascension Island, Fernando de Naronha (Brazil), Martinique, Sint Maarten (Dutch and French side), the US Virgin Islands (Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas), the British Virgin Islands (Anegada, Norman Island, Jost van Dyke, and Anegada), The Bahamas (Inagua, Crooked Island, Long Island, George Town, Staniel Cay, the Exumas, and Eleuthera). We then sailed back to the United States, making landfall in Cape Canaveral, Florida. From there our destinations are endless! Both Dennis and Ann grew up military brats with Army fathers. Dennis (the Colonel) served 30 years in the US Army and his retirement pension helped us retire in our 50s. Ann (the ship's Captain) wrote Test Automation in Python and Java. Dennis and Ann met on Match.com where Ann had in her profile "Do you want to sail the world with me?" Ann easily brought Dennis into sailing, and he loved the GTFOplan of retiring early and sailing the world. After many years of saving, living on one income but earning two, and cutting back on everything possible, they saved enough to buy a Balance 482.
