Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles Andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. We just took Eoti from Daytona Beach to Titusville, navigating the Florida coastline and observing local wildlife. We saw dolphins, raccoons, deer, and so many different deer that it was hilarious. Here in Solo Sailor Atlantic Circuit Part 4, Mark and his modified Cape Dory 36 Swan continue their circle cruise of the Atlantic, sailing in November 2025 from Agadir, Morocco to Mindelo, Cape Verde. The next leg will be his return trans-Atlantic passage to the West Indies. A unique aspect of his voyage is that for auxiliary propulsion he is using a tilt-up 6kw electric outboard in a custom built well in the lazarette locker. Since it has very limited range he mainly uses it only to depart and enter harbor. On this passage he had persistent trade winds behind him and only a few hours of light winds so he did not need to motor at all once he cleared the harbor. Revivez les temps forts du lundi 24 décembre, 45ème jour de course sur le Vendée Globe 2012-2013. Les skippers ont fêté Noël à bord de leurs bateaux. Pas de trêve des confiseurs pour les concurrents du Vendée Globe. Tous s'apprêtent à vivre une nuit du 24 décembre particulièrement musclée. La vigilance est de mise, au point que, pour certains, les agapes de Noël ont été décalées dans le temps. La mer reste le seul maître du temps. Pour Bernard Stamm (Cheminées Poujoulat), ce Noël 2012 risque d'avoir une saveur amère. Le navigateur suisse cumule les déconvenues. Arrivé au mouillage de Sandy Bay, il n'a pas pu profiter de l'abri relatif de l'anse pour finir les réparations engagées sur ses supports d'hydrogénérateurs. D'une part, la pluie incessante n'a pas permis de terminer les travaux de stratification et de l'autre, son mouillage n'a pas tenu. L'anse de Sandy Bay est tapissée d'algues laminaires qui empêche la bonne tenue des ancres ; la même mésaventure était arrivée en 2008 à Marc Guillemot, mais sa réparation n'avait pas demandé autant de temps et les conditions météorologiques étaient plus favorables que pour Bernard. Après s'être amarré le long d'un bateau océanographique russe au mouillage au large, Bernard Stamm s'est résolu à faire route sur le port de Dunedin, sur la côte est de Nouvelle-Zélande. Dunedin, deuxième ville de l'île du Sud offre toutes les infrastructures portuaires pour offrir un abri convenable, permettant au navigateur suisse de terminer son travail. Il reste que le tour du monde de Bernard est en train de changer d'âme. Alors qu'il bataillait encore pour un podium, le détour par la Nouvelle-Zélande va lui coûter la cinquième place, voire peut-être plus... Noël aux tisons Pour les autres navigateurs encore en course, cette journée de Noël risque d'être compliquée. Les deux leaders François Gabart (MACIF) et Armel Le Cléac'h (Banque Populaire), tout à leur match dans des conditions ventées, ont choisi de mettre entre parenthèse le rituel de Noël. Pour Armel, le réveillon se résumera à un ordinaire très légèrement amélioré, quand François envisage carrément de faire l'impasse... la marche du bateau avant tout. Mêmes préoccupations pour Jean-Pierre Dick (Virbac-Paprec 3) et Alex Thomson (Hugo Boss), tenaillés entre l'espoir de raccrocher la tête de flotte et l'envie d'assurer leur place. D'autres ont choisi d'anticiper Noël, à l'instar de Jean Le Cam (SynerCiel) ou Bertrand de Broc (Votre Nom autour du Monde avec EDM Projets) qui ont fêté le 24 décembre avant l'heure, compte tenu des conditions météorologiques attendues sur zone. Il faut dire que la dégustation de foie gras et le déballage des cadeaux par 40 nœuds de vent y prendraient vite un caractère surréaliste. D'autres attendront l'heure dite, tel Arnaud Boissières (Akena Vérandas) : « C'est une tradition familiale d'ouvrir les cadeaux le 25 à midi... » Pas question donc de déroger à la règle, c'est une des garanties de la qualité du lien qui l'unit à ses proches. Mike Golding (Gamesa), Dominique Wavre (Mirabaud) et Javier Sanso (Acciona 100% EcoPowered) fouillerait bien dans la hotte du Père Noël pour dénicher un peu de vent stable au portant ainsi qu'une mer mieux rangée. A l'arrière, Tanguy de Lamotte (Initiatives-cœur) s'est réjoui de savoir qu'un cinquième enfant allait pouvoir être opéré grâce au suivi de son projet par les Internautes. Enfin, pour Alessandro Di Benedetto (Team Plastique), c'est tous les jours Noël, tellement l'homme semble prendre du plaisir à être en mer. Le Vendée Globe 2012 est la course autour du monde en solitaire sans escale et sans assistance qui passe par les trois caps, le Cap de Bonne Espérance, le Cap Leeuwin et le Cap Horn. So went to the range today. Had a failure of sorts. The ejector broke off the bolt after about 80 rounds, sighting in my Bushnell optic.

Well it was time to say goodbye to Lady Musgrave - we had such a good time there. Snorkelling was great, variety of coral awesome (mostly hard corals) and variety of reef fish amazing! We had a great sail across to Llewellyn Reef and I really enjoyed the fact that there was no island there to anchor off, just reef. Was a bit daunting for Don though and he had a rather sleepless night worrying that we might drag anchor and end up on top of the reef. Also a great spot for snorkelling. Water clarity good, variety of coral good, again mainly hard corals, not as many fish as I would have liked but then again I didn't get to spend as long in the water as I would have likded. Don couldn't get out of there quick enough! Maybe next time we'll stay longer. It was hard to find a sandy patch to anchor though. Enjoy us on our travels with Sailing Bakali
