We get all steamed up and tweak some steam bent white oak frames so they lay more fair with the planking. Measurements are taken off the hull and the shape/location of the cedar planks get determined. It's a whole bunch of hot oak and middle school mathematics. SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. Navigator is for sale by her second owners who moved her from the Connecticut to Wisconsin. As the 35th hull number in the series, Navigator features the major product developments incorporated as Nordhavn continually refined and upgraded this popular model such as: 24V electrical, full size watch berth in the pilothouse, opening hatch in the owner stateroom; and the best equipment selections such as a Steelhead crane, Lugger wing engine and ABT TRAC active fin stabilizers - all important additions that simply were not available on earlier hulls. Navigator’s primary attributes when comparing Nordhavn 47’s: Two cabin layout, flybridge with stainless framed top, fiberglass stack for the main engine exhaust and a crane for launching the dinghy. Navigator has generous accommodations and a comfortable layout. The entry level has a spacious saloon and an ideal offshore galley. The raised pilothouse is ideal for underway operations with the flybridge above providing a choice in command locations. The staterooms are forward and below, with the owner situated aft. Interior décor is quite pleasing with Ultraleather upholstery, fitted carpet, custom blinds and granite counters. Machinery and equipment have been serviced (many upgrades and replacements during the current ownership). The engine room has great headroom for easier serviceability. Navigator is a fantastic trawler for an active owner operator couple. She has been cruised from Florida to the Bahamas and up through Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard enjoying the coast and islands of New England up to Maine. She has traveled the St. Lawrence River to Lake Michigan where she has been fresh water based in Manitowoc, WI (heated dry storage during winter). El Nido in the Philippines has a bylaw which forbids all single use plastics (bags, straws, food packaging). Even water bottles were banned on all the tourist day tours. I’d say that’s pretty progressive for a developing country and honestly, much further ahead than, for example, our home town in Canada. That said, currents and tides transport these plastics from far away and inevitably they end up on the windward beaches. Beaches that few see. It’s the sad reality out. Our adventures continued on the west coast of the Philippines where few cruisers anchor partly because of the deep anchorages. 25 to 35 meters was the norm. That’s a lot of chain to pull straight up for the windlass (the electric motor that pulls up the chain). As a result, we found ourselves having to freedive, dive and generally get creative in how we got our anchor back up. BE BRAVE.
