Frequent rolling thunder and lightning kept us tied up at the dock, but when that sultry weather window finally opened—with a high tide to match—you know we were ready. Cummins diesel fired up, bow thruster gave a sexy little purr, and off we went... until Isabella started moaning at just 1600 rpm. Yep—she’s got a dirty bottom that needs a serious scraping. So, back to the dock we came… a slow-motion, “controlled crash.” Karen was topless—naturally—so Steve had a good excuse to get his hands all over her, strictly for sun protection of course. We looped the lines for a smooth getaway next time (because we always like it smooth). And yes, there was dancing… and yes, Steve confessed: he's an ass man. Hit subscribe if you like sailing, skin, and some good-natured naughtiness. You’re definitely in the right marina. #sailing #newzealand #whalingstation #boatlife #bayofislands #weatherupdate We anchor in the stunning bay of Whangamumu where we visit the old whaling station before heading around to Deep Bay where mum sets off on a hiking adventure with the boys to stay in the Lighthouse station at Cape Brett. The next day , after a muddy hike back to the boat, we do a brisk downwind sail to Opua to start getting ready for our big sail out of New Zealand . The weather does not look good for this passage so we get busy taking a trip on an old vintage railway and set off to find the biggest Kauri trees in New Zealand . However, things take a turn for the worst as will be revealed in the next episode ( sorry for the cliff hanger ) ;) Music in this video deserves a Thanks to : " Follow The Road" by Josh Woodward. In this Episode we depart from Cartagena Marina with our 1979 Contest 36 and sail the Balearic islands of Rormentera, Ibiza and Mallorca. We explore the islands and get a visit from a superyacht. When going on an overnight sail from west to east Mallorca we get our first experience with catabatic winds. Dreams are boundless when they exist only in our minds, that’s what makes them so beautiful. But when they collide with real life, they must conform to the laws of the universe. The reality of keeping a dream alive can be daunting. The litany of details to organize and track, the monotony of boring tasks, the sheer amount of effort involved to accomplish what was a simple thought can dull the luster of even the most vivid dreams. After years of dreaming, scheming and working to get our new boat in the water, one month of sailing went by in a flash. Folding up the trimaran and pulling her back out of the water felt like folding up a dream. Now, with a massive project list in hand, we must put in the effort to keep the dream alive.

Excursion to Vis and Lastovo islands during our cruise 2019
From our family to yours. In our bubble we have loved the time together, cooking, playing even gardening. But we have always had our other 'baby' on our minds as we navigate this challenging time. We miss being out on the water, getting under the water to explore another world, swapping stories and of course the marshmallows over the fire. Most of all we miss the people. Our amazing guests who normally come to explore our backyard from all over the world. It's not our natural instinct to ask for help but in this changing time for travellers and those of us who help travellers have new experiences, meet new people and explore new places we would love to ask for your help. We are not sure yet when our borders will be open, or when we can all move freely again even in our own countries. What we do know is that we will travel again, cruise again, explore again and share again - our place, our islands, our lives and our experiences with all of you. So we are asking for your help. If you or someone you love or even just happen to know are planning on spending any time in the Bay of Islands in the coming months or even years we have put together a series of gift vouchers. They are open dated to the end of 2023, you can change dates as often as you like and you can even purchase just part of a cruise. https://www.rocktheboat.co.nz/the-rock-gift-vouchers We would love it if you would treat yourself, treat your family, treat your team or treat your friends to an experience that will last a lifetime. It would mean the world to us so we can have The Rock continue to be a unique looking icon here in the Bay of Islands for another 20 years. She has delivered memories that some of you have talked about as you explore the Mayan Ruins in Mexico and for others the memories were so fond you returned with your family a decade after you explored as backpackers. We've had engagements, reunions, birthdays and weddings before COVID-19 and we know with your support we will have many more aboard in the future. And of course if the Bay of Islands isn't on your horizon then we would love if you could share this far and wide for us with your networks. Much Love from the Greener Bubble Scarlett, Jonny and Sarah.
