SO MUCH WORK DONE! Mistress is designed by one of the highly respected Dutch naval architects E.G. Van de Stadt, a Caribbean design, length 40ft/12m, beam 13ft/3.9m, draft 5ft/1.5m. Her hull and decks are built in mild steel and I have built her on my own and am also fitting her out on my own. I have not built any type of boat before Mistress. There were many reasons why, but the work stopped,... However, the work has re-started, thankfully, and I am on an exciting journey to finish Mistress and then go on my sailing adventures,... Our dinghy is an Eastport Nesting Pram, and it was designed by Chesapeake Light Craft (CLC) in the USA. We purchased the dinghy as a kitset in the UK - the European distributor for CLC is a company called Fyne Boat Kits. They're based in Cumbria. If you prefer to do the whole process yourself, you can buy the plans on their own. "Piwakawaka" is the Maori name for the native New Zealand Fantail, a bird which often follows people in the forest (like a tender follows a yacht). These birds are small, cute, agile and very useful (they eat insects like mosquitos and flies!)
