Cape Dory sailboats are often prone to leaks at the hull-to-deck joint, which can occur both at the teak toe rail fasteners and where the glued joint edge has degraded. Sealing this area from above is a huge task; it requires either fiberglassing over the entire toe rail and then repainting the whole boat, or removing the rail entirely to glass the joint and reinstalling a rail - which still leaves you with potential leak points at the new fastener holes that could leak. Instead, to save some labor and ensure a seal, here in part 5 of this Cape Dory 30 Refit series we make this deck joint watertight by fiberglassing it from below deck. This internal approach creates a permanent bond without the need for a total exterior refit. By choosing this method, we still have the option of keeping the original toe rail in place and adding some height to the worn down rail by laminating another piece of wood to the top and finishing it with a durable accent paint rather than high-maintenance varnish. If you have other techniques for tackling these joints or any questions about the process, let me know in the comments.
We're still doing some painting. Boring! It does look nice when finished though. Karen's painter outfit makes Steve's putter flutter. Some great friends stopped by to visit on their way north. Always a fun time. They sail and anchor a lot while enjoying great views and very scenic locations. We looked at some of our Garmin 1242xsv chart plotter features. More to come on that. Our new Garmin GC100 bow camera works well but because it is wifi instead of hard wired sometimes the it blinks out for a few seconds. We talked about our tumblehome hull shape. Some describe it as very sexy and may possess a few advantages when sailing. Watch out when docking though as it sticks out and is prone to getting a scratch here and there. We also addressed some nautical terms with provocative & intimate undertones. Hey, of course we danced! Huge hugs and kisses to our subscribers and viewers. We love your comments and questions. In this episode, I talk about the medical issue that suddenly interrupted my life and my plans for Sailing Doodles. It started with abdominal pain that I thought might be something minor, but after hospital visits, scans, and more tests, doctors found inflammation around my pancreas and blood clots in the portal vein. For a short time, there was a real fear that it could be pancreatic cancer, which was obviously terrifying. Right now, I’m still waiting on a proper diagnosis. It could be something autoimmune, it could be related to pancreatitis, or it could be something else entirely. I’m on blood thinners, getting more testing done, and trying to understand what this means for my future. I also talk about what this could mean for Sailing Doodles, cruising plans, the new boat, and how something like this makes you rethink everything pretty quickly. This is a more personal episode, but I wanted to be honest about where things stand and what I’m dealing with. The Boat Life http://bit.ly/HelpFundMoreVideos or buy yourself a shirt http://www.TheBoat.Life/shop After returning from boating on Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ontario we decide to explore downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba. We set our sights on The Human Rights museum as we had heard about this back in the US. It is a stunning building and architecturally astounding. There is enough information packed in this museum to take days to get through. It boasts impressive interactive exhibits. This museum is a must see. A short walk from the museum is the infamous “dick” bridge. It is a lovely bridge if I do say so myself, but there is a very phallic beam as the centerpoint. Either way it is fun to look at and talk about all the shapes that it looks like. This bridge spans the Red River. It was a big hub for trading in the late 1800’s. Today it has pontoon boat tours (fenders out of course) and will host a Dragon Boat race in early September. As we sat in the warmth of the late afternoon at The Forks overlooking the river, we got to watch the Dragon Boat practice. Very intimidating sport from what I saw. Needless to say, when you are downtown, put the max amount of time in the parking meter so it doesn’t interrupt your sightseeing. Also, take some selfies in front of the Giant Winnipeg sign in the park near The Human Rights Museum, it is just plain fun! This is The Boat Life. Nic Morganti and Melissa Auman are moving onto a sailboat. The plan was sell everything, buy a boat, live on a boat, and travel and explore the Caribbean and the world while living aboard! The uniform is boardshorts and bikinis. Simple plan, but lots to learn and do along the way. Join our adventure as we sail away on sv Dodi, our Island Packet IP27, live on a sailboat, and explore life aboard. Pre-Covid motorcycle tour to Baler, Aurora from February 22-24, 2020. Ang Kwento ng 3 Batang Babae. February 22, 2020 This afternoon, I went to Ermita Hill to take some drone shots. As I was alone, I was approached by two young girls who offered to take my picture. I told them I was OK and that I was done flying my drone anyway and was about to leave. Around dinner time, I met up with Igan for dinner and drinks. As I was staying in a quieter side of Baler, I had to walk around 700 meters from my lodging to a river ferry station to get to Sabang beach where I walked an additional kilometer. Igan and I ate dinner at Nalu Surf Camp. The place was nice and the price was reasonable. During dinner, I noticed the the two girls I earlier saw on Ermita Hill were approaching the tables at the restaurant. I couldn't tell if they were selling something or begging for food. We met up with a few friends who were also in Baler. We decided to retire early though because we were still feeling tired from the ride. I took a tricycle to the ferry station. At the ferry station, I saw the same two girls and this time they were with a third one. They have been waiting for a paying passenger so that they can cross. Apparently, children can cross for free but the boat will cross only when there's a paying passenger. I asked them if they were the same ones I saw on Ermita Hill earlier today and they said yes. I told them I also saw them at the restaurant earlier. They were holding plastic bags of bread crust. They also said that they've made 16 pesos each from hustling the whole day. I gave them 50 pesos as I was about turn to my Airbnb. They were very thankful. When I got to my room, I realized I gave them more than what they earned "working" for many hours. I wish I had given more. I wish everyone would give more. So make it a point to support local businesses and buy local products whenever you visit local tourist destinations. Also, try local delicacies and tip the waiters. And yes, let the children take your picture then give them a tip. I think tourism should not benefit only big businesses.

A aposta deu certo.
Eure Mola Mola's
