With diesel and petrol options and a load of features including genset and air con this Beneteau 32 Gran Turismo is at a price point that will appeal to a lot of people due to the large number of boxes she ticks. The cockpit layout and full beam cabin makes this one of the best boats for entertaining in this size category and will allow you to still enjoy the day even when that unexpected extra few friends join you aboard as space is just not lacking on this 32ft sports cruiser. Again the Beneteau Group have been very thoughtful and clever in the way they have used all of the available space on this boat. For the right people this boat will provide a lot of value. When it comes to traditional looks this Sabre 45 Salon Express delivers on looks and also funcaionality. I found her to be a very stable and easy platform to walk around and can see that for a family she would work exceptionally if your inside enjoying the air con or out the back deck with the sun shade deployed. The technical room with washer, dryer and extra fridges turns this into a vessel that will easily do long cruises should you need and her design means you can be enjoying the cooler climates of Tassie or the tropics up North and enjoy an endless season on this boat. After spending a day aboard the Sabre I was left witht he impression that this is the style of boat that people dream a lifetime of owning and I suspect if you are lucky enough to get your hands on one of these then you'll probably hold onto it for a while. An LEQ12 in displacement, in waves, with such a low-freeboard is perhaps one of the most uncomfortable seats in the America’s Cup. Once flying, it’s a different story and you almost wished you had less freeboard and certainly less foresail. These prototypes in marginal flying conditions are tough and wet on the crews, and today out in a sunny Bay of Angels with an almost summer-feel to it (18 degrees), the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team were pulling all the tricks to get flying in a steadily building breeze that eventually came in at 10-12 knots. To see Marco Gradoni in interview afterwards, is to see the future of Italian sailing at the America’s Cup encapsulated in politeness, honesty, integrity and youthful ambition. The new generation are coming through at such a pace and learning with wide-eyed enthusiasm that it’s infectious to listen to. Talking about the day, Marco was buzzing, saying: “Yeah, today was a really good day because we had a lot of waves, big swell and at the beginning there was a lot of wind and it dropped down a bit, so it was a really, really, good training day for all the team.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away. It's a raw, unedited view of the never before seen behind-the-scenes development of a team and their boat to win the oldest trophy in international sports. #AC37Recon #AmericasCup #Barcelona2024

There’s been some wild and unpredictable weather in New Zealand this summer season and with yet another rain band moving in for the weekend, Emirates Team New Zealand opted to only sail the LEQ12 on Friday with a forecast for building wind. The meteorologists were right, and it was a grey, uncompromising session for the senior test team of Nathan Outteridge, Pete Burling, Andy Maloney and Blair Tuke who were put to sea with a few little modifications to test out. The recon spy shots from the dockside revealed a new, slender fin dangling off the underside of the port, single span anhedral foil that for all the world looks like it should have pride of place in a future Guggenheim Museum modern-art show. It’s a beauty and probably the most analysed foil in this America’s Cup cycle – and note the built-in cameras on the foil arm, no ugly, flow destroying, agricultural camera additions for New Zealand. Stunning. Section 41. A haze descended on Palma Bay this afternoon that almost camouflaged Athena, the silver clad INEOS Britannia AC40, as she blasted around off the Cap Rocat cliffs with only the jet-black 3DL sails giving the game away. But it was far from an incognito performance as the sailors tweaked and moded all afternoon taking in huge learnings whilst throwing the boat around a laid course performing manoeuvres straight from the match-racing handbook. Concentration was on trim and Luke Parkinson hinted at the team perhaps being selective on the auto-pilot and going manual at times. One notable bow-down after lift-off was recorded on the recon video and no doubt some calibration is still being worked into the system, Parkinson described it as: “I guess that's just balancing out the autopilot trim and the direct control between turning it on and off and those sorts of things and again that's really just us starting to learn the boat and the buttons and when to select which mode up front.” – no harm done though, and they were flying with ease almost immediately. Section 41. The America’s Cup is changing at a rapid pace. The transition is well underway and the opportunity for young, talented foiling sensations to come through to the apex of the sport has never been greater. All across the syndicates we are seeing new faces emerging, as the teams seek out the Cup superstars of tomorrow. Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli have almost certainly found, and are nurturing, two talents that could very well dominate the competition for years to come. Today out on the Bay of Angels in Cagliari we got a glimpse of the future with Ruggero Tita and Marco Gradoni taking sole charge of the Italian LEQ12 and boy did they impress. Conditions were certainly not ideal. The waves were in, and the wind was in that transition zone where flight has to be worked at to be achieved. Umberto Molineris, a graduate of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli ‘New Generation’ programme himself was onboard as a flight controller and trimmer today and looked more than pleased with what the team accomplished on the water saying: “Actually it was a really good day with a slightly less wind than yesterday but good waves with chop which for sure it's nice to have some conditions which are a bit more tricky to sail so we can get a bit more used to waves.” Section 41. A one-boat programme became a two-boat programme and pretty soon, Emirates Team New Zealand will be running a three-boat programme in their epic, no-stone-left-unturned quest to defend the America’s Cup in Barcelona in 2024. The team teased ‘Te Rehutai’, the Cup winning, all-conquering, speed machine AC75 of 2021 on social media in recent days and official notification was served through the formal process that must have been an eye-opener to every challenger trying to wrest the Auld Mug from the Kiwi clutches. Marius Van der Pol, a member of the ETNZ ‘Power Group’ that has recently been selected after extensive and exhaustive tests, offered an insight into the training day, saying: “Yeah the boys went flat out and I’m sure they’d be keen to get back onshore and into the debrief.” Van der Pol and his fellow crew are looking forward to getting sailing in ‘Te Rehutai’ saying: “It’ll be awesome stepping on board that boat and seeing the second life that she's had, and will be awesome to see the new boys as well getting a spin on that boat.” Section 41.

I really enjoyed driving this Sabre 45 Solon Express! The Downeast styling will never go out of fashion but the hull profile on this boat was just lovely for maintaining a healthy speed through ocean swells. I suspect this boat will appeal to many of you who have done extensive cruising on sailing yachts and are now looking for a vessel that will provide you with an ultra high level of comfort and security. She would be equally as comfortable for a typical day on the water as she would be running at speed in the ocean to your next destination. Sir Ben Ainslie was back in Palma today having travelled back from his favourite sailing venue of Sydney, Australia to take charge of INEOS Britannia’s box-fresh AC40 with a clear remit to get stuck in and start throwing some shapes on the flat dancefloor of the Bay of Palma. Ben didn’t disappoint. The team threw in almost 60 manoeuvres with a 97% foil-to foil success rate on some thirty tacks and a more than respectable 89% foil-to-foil success rate on the gybes. The playground was flat, the wind was fair and gusting in at 12 knots at times, but the pervading sense of the racing sailors was that they are itching for more to really put some miles on the clock in Athena. A tow-up in the morning as the pervading boredom of waiting finally cracked, offered the first flight for Ainslie who liked what he saw, saying: “Yeah it's a great boat I'm really impressed…it was relatively easy to sail for these kind of boats and performed really well in this light to medium breeze so yeah I had a great time. I think it will be a great asset for all of the teams and of course looking forward to the Youth & Women’s Cup next year in Barcelona - great tool.” Section 41. The hulls and superstructure were built like a tank with the bottoms being about an inch thick with balsa cored sides and decks. With her 15'10" beam this is a big 53 footer and the layout takes maximum advantage of that space. The strong suit of the layout is a huge cockpit, salon and bridge, as is appropriate for a real sport fisherman. Most of the 53 Convertibles weight is further aft, which helps her performance, particularly in a short 3 chop where most boats of her size have trouble. Being built like a tank with a deep entry hull means that this boat doesn't bob around like a cork. She's a slow roller with a smooth ride. This classic 1971 Hatteras 53 Convertible was purchased by the current owner in late 2020. Before that, Billfisher was owned by the SAME, well-known Alabama family since she was purchased NEW 49 years earlier! The McLean family primarily used her to fish the Chandeleur Islands for speckled trout and redfish. In 2017, Billfisher went through a very comprehensive restoration. Many of the updates done, as stated by the previous owners, are included in the listing. If you want a big, serious sport fisherman, but find a new one way out of reach, this classic 53 Convertible is still worthy of consideration. Call the Listing Broker for more information and to make an appointment to see this classic beauty! You won't be disappointed. #hatteras53 #hatterasyachts #littleyachtsales

Meet Peter and Kiki from Portland, Oregon. They sail a Vision 444. A relatively new Catamaran brand from South Africa. But not only the boat and the brand are new. Peter and Kiki were also new to sailing catamarans and the cruising life when they ordered the boat. But that didn’t scare them. They jumped at it, built their dream boat and have since sailed from South Africa to the Caribean and the US. Quite the adventure, especially considering Peter has Diabetes. Let’s find out what got them sold on the boat and how they manage to sail offshore with diabetes. --------------------------------------------- Welcome to Boatlife is best. Once again Riviera have produced a Sport Yacht that will accommodate a large family for the typical summer day boating activities and keep you happy right up to extended offshore trips to new and far away destinations. This brand clearly excels at building ultra high quality yet super functional boats that are perfectly suited to harsh environments that include temperature extremes and true ocean conditions. I found the 4600 to look and feel like a true Sports Yacht and she punches well above her weight when it comes to useability and practical design that will make owner operators lives easier when out on the water. The Alinghi Red Bull Racing sailors were absolutely sending it in Barcelona today, in pretty much perfect conditions as the ‘Garbi’ breeze blew in a healthy 14 knots from the south-west and allowed the Swiss to light the afterburners on their spectacular AC40. Not all smooth sailing today however, and it’s just as well that the team practised their capsize drill as the sailors got screwy on a gybe, stuck the bow into Davy’s Locker and toppled over at high-speed. These boats reward accuracy but bite if you get it wrong and it’s something that we have got used to over the course of this America’s Cup cycle. Yves Detrey, the megastar double winner of the America’s Cup and now in his fifth campaign was more than relaxed about the capsize in interview afterwards, saying: “Yeah that was fun. I mean it's the first time while sailing and it's going to happen again. It's part of the learning process and obviously was the first time for us to sail in that that bit of breeze, and the chop was getting higher and higher so, you know, it happens and it will happen again.” Section 41. After a scheduled maintenance break for a week, the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team assembled back in Cagliari to be greeted by perfect conditions that more than blew the cobwebs away out on the Bay of Angels. As Spring gets sprung in Southern Europe, the mercury hit 16 degrees Celsius in the late afternoon and the breeze built steadily from the south-east offering the Italians a sublime training session where they had the pedal to the floor as if they had never been away. Martin Jacoby, the CFD Specialist Engineer for Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli was interviewed after a very entertaining sailing session and confirmed that few changes had been made to the set-up of the Italian LEQ12 in the past week, saying: “Last week was a week of maintenance, and this was a sailing day to do some checks that everything is doing good and that was the case, and we are very happy with that.” Asked about the new markers on the port side foil and possible changes to the foil identified by the Recon Team, Jacoby commented: “No, we were just doing some maintenance there and taking a better understanding of how the foil works and the flow behaviour.” Section 41. The defence of the America’s Cup is very much on with Emirates Team New Zealand taking to the crystal summer waters of the Hauraki Gulf today to line up the One-Design AC40 against its snarling sister, the LEQ12 in full teenage development mode. Curly Salthouse, the legendary Kiwi head of on-water operations who is now in his tenth America’s Cup campaign summed up the short afternoon session accurately saying: “We waited for the breeze, sort of a typical sea-breeze day here in Auckland…and left the dock about 2.30pm something like that, unfortunately on one of the boats we've made a little change to the sail configuration, and we’ve done some damage to some battening, something that we couldn't really replace and keep going on the water. So, one boat’s back in early and we’ll lift that out and fix it for tomorrow, that's not a big job, but it's just something we’re trying…and it wasn’t up to the task, we’ll rectify that and go again.” Section 41. You will be hard pressed to find a more elegant sight in world sailing this year than the INEOS Britannia AC40 ‘Athena’ gracefully, elegantly, effortlessly flying against a sepia backdrop of Palma Bay, late afternoon in early Spring. What a sight to behold. The team waited for the breeze all day but when it came, as forecast, bringing in 13-14 knots under the cliffs of El Arenal, the crack test team of Giles Scott, Dylan Fletcher-Scott, Bleddyn Mon and Leigh MacMillan had Athena on its foiling knife edge, pushing hard to find the limits. Ben Cornish, another cool customer and current 5.5 Metre World Champion, gave a typically open and frank interview post-sailing, very much the hallmark of the INEOS Britannia team, and after his second day on the AC40 he was enthused, saying: “Yeah nice boat…you know it's a different beast to what we've got in the shed in a number of areas and in what the crew are doing and how you sail it, it's interesting for us and we’re learning something new… you never go on the water without a test list so today was no different to that and with that good breeze the guys ticked through everything they wanted to…it's a well refined racing boat and there’s stuff on there which is very good and you want to explore the ranges of what it's capable of. There's plenty to learn.” Section 41. We take the NEW Riviera 4600 Sport Yacht Platinum for a rest drive offshore in some good swells where we go up and down swell while discussing speeds and fuel consumption plus comfort levels and the overall experience at the helm.
