Mother Nature was not content merely to throw more testing westerly offshore winds at the 343 Olympians of the future racing in the Four Star Pizza ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships. For today's two races, held on this third day of the competition, the under 19-year-old sailors who have descended from 61 nations as far flung as Belarus, Macedonia, Peru and Korea, faced the additional challenges of torrential rain and, at times, reduced visibility.

As well as the action on the water there has been plenty of activities organised around the shore to entertain the huge numbers of the public that visited Dun Laoghaire Harbour so far during the event. From stunt bikes and classic cars to a pop-up pizzeria on the East Pier there's been something for everyone to enjoy....

www.wetamarine.com Chris Kitchen shows us his capsize technique! This demonstration capsize was staged in between races at the European Champs. Was 18-20 knots. Reaching high with the gennaker, I was sitting on the rail fairly far forward. I helmed up and dug the leeward float in and a bit of the bow then helmed down hard to get the boat to stand upright on its nose and held on. No assistance needed to right the boat, used the capsize recovery technique as per manual. Was ready to race again within 5 minutes. Shot on a GoPro HD HERO2 Camera http://gopro.com/
