► Essai complet dans Multicoques Mag N°233. ► La Tortue 147 ne ressemble décidément pas vraiment à un multicoque de série… Ce catamaran-concept, apologie de la slow life, affiche en effet un design et des aménagement absolument uniques, avec sa nacelle qui rappelle une carapace de tortue, ses grands hublots façon vitraux, son siège de table à cartes suspendu et sa distribution des cabines qui rappelle celle d’un petit chalet de montagne. Même ambiance surprenante à l’arrière, où un modeste balcon suspendu tient lieu de cockpit. On est évidemment impressionné par les vitrages intégrés façon diamant au fond de la nacelle, pour finir la visite à peine surpris par la présence d’une belle plante verte dont la découpe du pot a été prévue dès la construction… Cette dernière, justement, a été assurée en Tunisie : elle adopte l’aluminium semi-épais pour une résistance optimale aux impacts. La carène présente deux spécificités : un bulbe est greffé sur chaque étrave de façon à amortir le tangage, et les élancements sont particulièrement importants à l’arrière. Là aussi, le but des architectes est d’offrir une plate-forme le plus stable possible, y compris en longitudinal. Deux ballasts de 1 200 litres chacun sont également prévus à l’arrière. Les longs quillons assortis aux skegs de safrans autorisent l’échouage. Day 3 of Leg 4 finds Team Malizia locked in a fierce mid-fleet battle, holding 5th position as the fleet pushes north. After a brutal passage through the Strait of Bonifacio – from blasting along in 40 knots to suddenly drifting in no wind – the leading pack managed to escape while Malizia and the chasing boats fought to break free along the Sardinian coast. At midday today, fifth-placed Team Malizia was around 50 nautical miles behind fourth-placed Paprec Arkéa. Leg 4 has once again offered up few opportunities for the sailors to get any meaningful sleep so far, and with the top four teams expected to continue to battle closely for the podium positions the prospects for shuteye before the finish remain bleak as this fourth stage comes to a tense conclusion. The time has arrived to “haul out” and get to work again (on the boat that is!). We enjoy our last few days afloat tied to a cute little marina dock, and manage to squeeze in some Samos island sightseeing, before mentally and physically preparing ourselves and Galene for the boatyard. A reminder that this action is taking place in Fall 2023. We make these videos as a travel log for ourselves, and anyone who’s interested, but have found it impossible to stick to the regular posting schedule we initially had (every couple of weeks)….we’re just too busy enjoying our hard earned retirement 😎 Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy.

Late summer and early fall is the best time to sail in Colorado, because there are fewer afternoon thunderstorms and calmer winds. This time of year is when I start sailing from sunrise to sunset and get full 12-hour days on the lake. And since it's a weekday, I have the lake all to myself.
