This Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup in September 2015 brought together 17 teams from 11 countries for a pure test of yachting skill. After five days of intense competition, the Royal Thames Yacht Club (UK) emerged as the overall winner, taking home the Invitational Cup trophy and a specially engraved Rolex timepiece. The teams raced on identical New York Yacht Club Swan 42 boats equipped with the same sails, rigging and equipment. This biennial regatta promotes the Corinthian spirit, the highest standard of amateur yachting, rewarding preparation, teamwork and expertise – qualities that are prized by Rolex, Title Sponsor and partner of New York Yacht Club.

With the help of a few of the other liveaboards, I finally get to step the mast! I still don't have the engine back in the boat but stepping the mast is a step in the right direction :) I had hoped to get a lot more done and, therefore, have a more content for the video, but there was a slight complication while stepping the mast. En Julio de 2015 el Quinto Real pasa Finisterre con una tripulación formada por Emilio, Rocio, Jenny y Miguel, todos ellos de Granada. Han embarcado en La Coruña y vamos a Vigo. Rocio es antropóloga y trabaja con sordos. En seguida propone hacer una pequeña película para sordos contando el viaje. THATS GOT TO HURT ! The Skipper on GTR forgot to duck, lucky for him he got back up to race another day. Gybing a boat can be one of the most dangerous manoeuvres you can make due to the amount of distance the boom needs to travel. In this case the skipper got caught up in the runners which were the wrong side of the boom. Sailing fails are OK as long as you learn from your mistakes and put plans in place to avoid them happening again. I hope the racers who are watching this sailing video learn what not to do. The crash gybe could have been a lot worse, the skipper was lucky he could stand up and keep going after the crashing into the leeward side of the boat.
