In this video I show how to set up a Sous-vide water bath for cooking ribs, how to make a dry rub, and how to prep, package, and cook delicious BBQ pork baby back ribs. In Part 2 I will show how to make a homemade BBQ sauce and how to glaze and finish the ribs using a grill or broiler. There's been a bit of a heat wave and the crew of sv Paramour is feeling the heat.
The winds have picked up with the cold front that has come through and with it come more challenges to living aboard. Life onboard a boat at anchor isn't always glamorous, but even when it is less than ideal, it beats life on land. I want to give a shout out to Mantus Anchors for making a phenomenal product that I trust my life to every single day. I've never used an anchor that worked as well as theirs. It has held through some serious weather, and I expect that it will do so some more in the future.

We're stuck on the boat, at Black Point, in the Exumas, during a cold front, on Tambi's birthday. 12 hours of editing down the drain. Oh man, it was going to be a good one too! My computer froze as I was exporting the first edit of this video. File ruined. Tragedy. It was a sad day... Due to a combination of time, internet, and weather constraints, this video was RUSHED. 2 hours is all the time this video was given on the 2nd go-around. That being said, maybe the final product will be fairly good. The footage was alright - I just feel like it didn't have the same stylish flare that some of our previous videos had. This is the follow-up video to our previous video that was also shot at Blackpoint. We love this settlement, we spent nearly 3 weeks there, and enjoyed almost every moment of it. I say almost, because being stuck on the boat for days on end as you weather a tough cold-front is never much fun. Still, we make the best of it, and even break away to explore the island a bit more and check out the local blow-hole. OH! Get this - Tambi spends her birthday stuck aboard the boat with the 2 people she loves the most. Wow, lucky her! We do our best to make her birthday special despite being confined to a floating jail cell. Maybe it wasn't all that bad... we did make her some birthday coupons! Now, even though the video may be sub-par, I think Molly really saves the day on this one. She has a pretty special clip for you at the end, so be sure to hang out for that. Anyways - let us know what you think of the video. We hope you enjoy it despite the limited time that was dedicated to the post-production process! Thanks for watching!! So now that Sea Horse is back in the water we can start using her again, and this week its the first race in the Medway YC racing season. Now racing may not be for everyone but it provides a great excuse to go for a sail. Take today for example, a cruising sailor would probably just start their engine or maybe even stay at home, but as a racer I had a great time. I didnt do that well in the results but that wasn't all my fault, and this race wasnt about winning, it wasnt even about taking part... it was all about just going for a sail. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. "We stayed for 3 amazing days in Koh Phi Phi! We went scuba diving, hiking, took a day tour to Maya Bay, saw monkey, tried thai cuisine and met another little place of Thailand. Phi Phi Island, in Thailand, was the place that we chose to spend our 10th anniversary together. " Roberta “After I finished my civil engineering degree in Brazil in the end of 2015 I decided that I wanted to take an extra step. So with the full support of my long time adventure partner I started a Master Degree at Sydney University and that’s how we sold most of our belongings and moved from Brazil to Australia. But 6 months later we realized that actually that was not what we were looking for. So instead of flying back straight to our country, we decided to take a few sabbatical months and travel until the end of 2016. The plan was simple, we wanted to travel to places where it is cheap and/or comfortable, and take the time to think about our own lives so we could decide what we wanted to do from 2017 and on. That’s the story we tell in this first season of Odd Life Crafting” Duca WEEKLY EPISODES EVERY FRIDAY!! We hope to inspire other people to go out and live their dreams. A plastic tee near the water heater broke and tap water began pouring into the boat, flooding everything! The electric motor, as well as all the batteries were completely submerged for hours. Thankfully, the high water pump was able to keep up with the inflow and keep the boat afloat until I got home. Had that pump stopped working, Wisdom would have sunk in the slip! And so begins the long process of drying out the bilge and repairing the damage that has occurred. Welcome to Episode 15! This week we're in Culebra and Culebrita, Puerto Rico! We fall in love with this amazing country (may or may not have something to do with all the delicious tacos we feast on!) and spend a night in the wonderfully quiet anchorage in Culebrita. On our way to the mainland we make a grave tactical error when we trust the weather forecast which states the max wind speed will be 8 knots. Thinking we've got a day of motoring ahead of us, we don't bother lifting the dinghy and instead simply tow it behind us, outboard attached and all. When we're hit by a squall with 25 knots of wind and lumpy seas, our outboard nuts start to loosen under the strain and Nick has to jump in to try and save the outboard and dinghy! We may not always get to work on what projects we want *when* we want, but there is always something to be done on this boat. My Awl Grip top coats have been halted due to extreme heat, but we still have plenty to keep ourselves busy! After receiving our rudder back with a new welded posts and some added bushings, Matt's work on the linear drive is finished and he gets a chance to show you how the entire set-up works. In a few other small projects, we try to readjust the hard dodger and how it fits onto our posts after we've chopped 5" off them to make room for a flexible solar panel. We're left with sharper angles for the pads and a lot of scratching our heads, but luckily the good men at Grand Slam Aluminum know how to take good care of us. Last but not least, we get to properly install our captain's chair at the nav station once our 2.5" post has had brackets welded in to secure it to the floor and a bulkhead. Our first real area to sit in the pilot house. :) Cheers from the work yard! Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons.
