We are excited to be at a new Island here in The Exumas. Although Cambridge Cay is a private Island, cruisers are allowed to visit and are welcome to explore the beautiful trails and beaches. The anchorage is protected from all directions and has the option of mooring balls if you so desire. We found Cambridge Cay to be surrounded by several fun places to explore, like hiking trails, snorkeling, the Rocky Dundas Caves and an incredible dive site with a plane wreck. We had an incredible day exploring the Island a little bit and checking out the Rocky Dundas Caves. The water was a bit rough today making it kinda hard to get in to all the fun place, but the caves were still extremely cool to see. We finally made it to the Berry Islands in the Bahamas, or did we? After sailing across the deep canyons of the Bahamas, we hid between the Stirrup Cays for safety while a powerful system raged over us for days. It turns out that the islands we were hiding behind are privately owned and we were not allowed to step foot on them. This meant that we were trapped in the boat for the next 5 days as this system raged over us. Johnny got cabin fever on day 4, braving the seas in our little dinghy that he took against our advice to go to shore on the next island over. The 5 mile journey took him 3.5 hours as he braved large seas in a tiny dinghy. Once the storm had passed over, we raised anchor and sailed over to Great Harbor Cay. After redeeming ourselves with a 1st place finish sailing down from Vanuatu, we spent quite a bit of time exploring Noumea, the big city in New Caledonia. Part of that was by choice as we needed to provision and wanted to watch Game 7 of the World Series (Go Astros!) and part wasn't. Let's just say being sick is no fun. Once all was on the mend, we set out to do a bit of exploring of the area known as the Southern Lagoon. Our first stop was at the gorgeous Îlot Maître where the water was crystal clear and we got to watch turtles and rays swim around Starry Horizons. A bit of calmer weather was needed to head down to the Amédée lighthouse and check out the first metal lighthouse ever built by the French. Petit à petit le projet avance et le rêve de voir de nouveau ce voilier naviguer est proche d'être réalisé. Soucieux de travailler avec des artisans locaux, nous sommes heureux de remettre la fabrication des voiles du Rebelle entre les mains de l'entreprise Cornouaille Gréement dirigée par Stéphane Hébert.
