After 10 days in Bermuda, the weather window appeared and s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) departs on the sailing adventure to Antigua. During this sailing trip we completed 948 nm, and it took us 5 days 3 hours, averaging 7.7kts As weather went, we had the tail end of a big low pressure system on the first day, with strong but decreasing winds and big seas. On the second day we crossed the high-pressure transition zone to the trade winds, motoring for 16 hours. The wind came back in on our port quarter, gentle at first, but then increased and sprung east, ending up forward of the beam. And this is how we spent the last 3 days, on a port tack fetch (on apparent wind) and into the increasing easterly swell. We pushed Cloudy Bay fairly hard through the waves giving us a rather hard but thrilling ride. The sea calmed down in the lee of Barbuda at dawn on the last day, then arrived into the turquoise water of Jolly Harbour, Antigua at noon. Good to be back here, after our 6 month detour sailing east coast USA. 30 Nov - 5 Dec 2018

Participate with the Sail Malaysia 2018 to Langkawi crew in the events organized in Langkawi, the rally final port. First we have a quick look at islands along the way from Pangkor including Penang where no event was organized this year due to a lack of good anchoring & dinghy landing. We take a short island tour where we visit the Sanctuary Bakau in the Kilim Geoforest Park to help with the reforestation project and have a quick look at the Oriental Village followed by a nice dinner at the Rice Museum. Next day we have a look at Rebak Marina and the farewell cocktail there. I mount the electronic box with the glow plug and the starter relays and talk about how the fuse system works. And then at least I fill up the system with new original Volvo coolant fluid so the system can be protected from corrosion from the inside. The coolant will then protect the engine for the next 2 years and is the kind there is ready mixed so it protect the engine against frost damage down to -25 centius degrees. The coolant is the green version for this engine model.
