Der nächste Schritt bei unsere Schiffsrestaurierung ist es das Deck zu isolieren und mit Dämmung zu versehen. Das ist wichtig, damit es im Winter schön warum und im Sommer schön kühl bleibt. Wir haben uns für Armaflex, selbstklebend 19mm entschieden. Ein sehr gut bewertetes Produkt, was einfach in der Anwendung ist. Einfach Klebestreifen abziehen und ankleben. Wasserfest und schwer entflammbar. Bevor wir die Dämmung anbringen, müssen natürlich von uns noch die restlichen Roststellen am internen des Decks entfernt, mit Rostversigeler versiegelt und mir Grundierung versehen werden. We continue our adventure through the Dedocanese, Greek Islands, enjoying a perfect sail from Symi to Kos. Later that evening we experience the LEAST perfect anchorage ever, outside Kos marina with huge swells. The next day with our boat safe in Kos marina and little to no sleep we dose up on coffee and head to a quirky Greek restaurant and enjoy traditional meals and wonderful Greek hospitality! For several days we continue to experience thunder storms, rain, hail and constant 25-35 knots of wind and Trace has an accident during all of this and ends up at an emergency doctor getting stitches. It was depressing and scared me, but isn't it amazing how experiences allows us the delusion of confidence. 2 years ago I NEVER would have done something like this. Après une période de travail en Suisse, nous sommes de retour au Panama. Nous avons effectués quelques travaux sur le chantier à Panamarina. Le cadre est idyllique, la marina est en pleine jungle et nous sommes entourés par des singes hurleurs, des singes capucins, des paresseux... Chaque jour, j'ai traversé le tunnel de mangroves en stand up paddle : magique ! Puis, nous avons passé une semaine à Linton Bay en attendant de nous rendre dans les îles San Blas. C'était encore la saison des pluies et des orages... Une nuit de navigation nous emmène ensuite aux Iles San Blas, un véritable petit paradis ! Les îles San Blas, se sont des centaines d'îlots de cocotiers où vivent les indiens Kuna... Ce fut notre plus belle escale ! La gopro est foutue ainsi que l'objectif de l'appareil photo et nous n'avons pu filmer que le début du séjour et malheureusement pas pu faire d'images du monde sous-marin fabuleux... Aujourd'hui, nous sommes de retour à Linton Bay et préparons le passage du canal de Panama... Malheureusement je ne pourrai pas réaliser de film, mais j'espère retrouver une gopro pour vous montrer des images du Pacifique...

I got the translation with the help of Google Translate, but I think that loosely translates to "Bay of the Dead" or "Dead Bay." After 10 days in Bermuda, the weather window appeared and s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) departs on the sailing adventure to Antigua. During this sailing trip we completed 948 nm, and it took us 5 days 3 hours, averaging 7.7kts As weather went, we had the tail end of a big low pressure system on the first day, with strong but decreasing winds and big seas. On the second day we crossed the high-pressure transition zone to the trade winds, motoring for 16 hours. The wind came back in on our port quarter, gentle at first, but then increased and sprung east, ending up forward of the beam. And this is how we spent the last 3 days, on a port tack fetch (on apparent wind) and into the increasing easterly swell. We pushed Cloudy Bay fairly hard through the waves giving us a rather hard but thrilling ride. The sea calmed down in the lee of Barbuda at dawn on the last day, then arrived into the turquoise water of Jolly Harbour, Antigua at noon. Good to be back here, after our 6 month detour sailing east coast USA. 30 Nov - 5 Dec 2018

(Ep.57) It's almost Christmas???? Who's excited? So this week we pretty much did a few odd jobs around the boat. Glen & Gray came to visit us from Salt Lake City, Utah for the week and helped us remove our leg/Z drive.. everything was corroded.. so what would be a 1 day job became a 2-3 day job. We managed to lift up the engine onto the deck!! Now we just got to get her down so we can start the next part of this boat building process. Participate with the Sail Malaysia 2018 to Langkawi crew in the events organized in Langkawi, the rally final port. First we have a quick look at islands along the way from Pangkor including Penang where no event was organized this year due to a lack of good anchoring & dinghy landing. We take a short island tour where we visit the Sanctuary Bakau in the Kilim Geoforest Park to help with the reforestation project and have a quick look at the Oriental Village followed by a nice dinner at the Rice Museum. Next day we have a look at Rebak Marina and the farewell cocktail there. I mount the electronic box with the glow plug and the starter relays and talk about how the fuse system works. And then at least I fill up the system with new original Volvo coolant fluid so the system can be protected from corrosion from the inside. The coolant will then protect the engine for the next 2 years and is the kind there is ready mixed so it protect the engine against frost damage down to -25 centius degrees. The coolant is the green version for this engine model.
