Le lac Karihani est l'unique lac naturel d'eau douce de Mayotte. Il attire toute l’année de nombreux oiseaux dont le crabier blanc, une espèce protégée en danger critique d'extinction dont on retrouve 20% de la population mondiale à Mayotte. Une soixante d'espèces d'oiseaux ont été recensées par le GEPOMAY autour du lac dont on peut faire le tour en empruntant un sentier. In this episode we show how an 'Owners Group' is very important for newbie sailboat buyers...in this case we relied on our Owners Group to give us the HELP we needed! Sometimes 'Made in America' is not the highest aim...especially when such great products are made by our Allies! And especially, our greatest ally....England! What's more patriotic than honoring your greatest ally! In our case....it's the United Kingdom! They have always come through for us and us for them! Okay, I don't mean to get too historic...but... 'Yab-Yum' is a British-made boat with a British-made Engine...the very thing that many said 'dont buy a foreign-made' boat turned out to be our greatest helper!' It's fine to buy a foreign boat! Why? Buy a boat that you love...regardless of whether it was built in your country or not! Those of you who follow us....know that our transmission (gearbox) wore down...but only after thirty- six (36) years! Not too bad! We purchased a new transmission through England...(less expensive than buying it in the US...the ZF transmission is made in Italy) ..it took only three (3) days to deliver and was SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive than the same exact unit bought in the US. (even including the shipping fee!) So, two lessons.... 1.) YAY England! Our greatest ally! 2.) If you buy a sailboat make sure you have a great and functioning 'owners group'...newbie sailors always can benefit from the expertise of those who own our exact sailboat model and make! 3.) 'Made in America' only is a great goal...but made in the U.K is the next best thing! They are our greatest primary ally! "Rule Britannia...Britannia Rules the Waves!' This video is about Sailing in the Cook Islands and Niue, Ep 52, Off the Starboard Hull in the South Pacific in a Lagoon 400 S2 catamaran. A Canadian Couple from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada left from Parksville July 21, 2016 to sail around the world in their Lagoon 400 S2 catamaran. See how they get along, who they meet and where they end up going. They have a 10 year estimated time line, but a very open agenda. On August 4th, 2018, we arrived in Swarrow, a nature reserve with 2 resident rangers in the Cook Islands. Then we went to the island country of Niue (our 2nd favourite place after Maupiti) with unlimited underwater visibility, pristine coral, baby humpback whales, caverns and chasms. Breathtaking! From there, we traveled to Neiafu (with dozens of protected anchorages), Pangai in the Haipai region and Nuku’alofa, all 3 regions in Tonga. Next was Minerva Reef for 20 hours before we embarked on the notorious passage to NZ. Since Nov 12 2018, we have been in Opua New Zealand and are loving the friendly people, the lovely Bay of Islands and the access to materials and shops to do some boat projects.

Boating Maintenance does not always have to be difficult if planned correctly. With two large Marine Cummins Diesel Engines as well as a Westerbeke Diesel Generator the sound levels in the cockpit have been unbearable. Soundproofing the boat engine compartment is critical. We are replacing 1994 heat insulation on our liveaboard with 2019 Sound Dampening Technology which includes a heat shield and sound shield from SoundProof Cow a leading soundproofing company. 'Does it ever end?!!' - Khiara P Direct quote from a grumpy Khiara as she spends day after day hammering her thumb while taking up 1 cm pieces of teak decks. Yep, the constant work is starting to get to us a little bit in this episode. The yard plays a game of boat Tetris trying to get our boat our of a tightly packed yard and we move to another spot... to continue doing more work! But we do have some wins though, our cutlass bearing arrives and Adam promptly starts removing the old one, we drain a little more water out of the keel with some more heavy duty methods and we do have an evening off to chill in a friends pool watching the amazing sunset over the island. Blast Off for the RORC Caribbean 600 The 2019 RORC Caribbean 600 kicked off in spectacular conditions off the south coast of Antigua with the magnificent fleet starting the 600 mile non-stop offshore race in bright sunshine, full-on gusting tradewinds and two-metre high waves. The 11th edition of the race featured 76 starting yachts from 20 different countries.

BREAKING NEWS: Start of RORC Caribbean 600 postponed for MOD 70s Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70’s Team agreed to Team Argo’s request to postpone the start of the RORC Caribbean 600. The new start time will be at 14.00 local time (18.00 UTC and 19.00 Italian time) to allow the American Team to finish the repair work after they capsized during the Antigua 360 Race last Friday. The Royal Ocean Racing Club, the organizing committee, asked everyone in the MOCRA class (multihulls) to delay the start but the quorum wasn’t met, so they asked the Italian Team to create a special class for the two MOD 70s. Therefore Maserati Multi 70 and Argo will compete in a Match Race without taking part in the corrected time ranking. This is the RORC Start video which includes the footage concerning the capsize of US Mod 70 ARGO whilst traing with Giovanni Soldini in Maserati. All crew are safe and they may be on the start line today. The story. Five starts are scheduled from 1100-1140 local time with the multihulls in the final start. In the build-up to the non-stop race around 11 Caribbean islands there has already been high drama, and the race is set provide a thrilling spectacle with front-runners reporting that both the multihull and monohull race records could be broken. Entry Lists on website The weather forecast is suggesting that moderate trade winds at the start will strengthen during the race, giving classic Caribbean sailing conditions of warm trade winds from the east with a moderate sea state. "We have seen light conditions throughout January, but we are seeing a significant change for the RORC Caribbean 600, with low pressure pushing the high pressure away," commented Andiamo's skipper Mike Broughton at a weather update held during the Skippers' Briefing.
