I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

Three or four metre waves hitting your sailboat beam-on doesn't always make for the most comfortable of overnight passages. But we were sailing, and that's what it's all about! We left the comfort and shelter of Tiger Island (Pulau Macan) on a 180 nautical mile trip north-east to Pulau Belitung in the Java Sea. It was life at an angle with bumps and bangs to accompany us, but at the other end we discovered a dreamy, laid-back island which we instantly fell in love with. Yes, another one... Ohhhhh yes!! Did I enjoy it? I LOVED IT!!! Background info: We decided as a family that it was more efficient for me to spend some time on my own on the boat to get the essentials done as quickly as possible (I can work a lot quicker on my own and the boat could be left full of tools and semi-completed jobs without them being a danger to Emma.) It then made sense for me to sail to mainland Europe on my own as this allowed me to concentrate on the passage itself and making videos of my first ever single handed sailing adventure! Normally I have to go away from my family for my offshore work, on this occasion it was to get the boat where we needed it to be to set us up for our Canal trip down the entire length of France next year. It has been very tough to be apart, but we believe this decision is best for our family in the long-run. Siamo partiti per il Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Nha Trang Rally (ex Hong Kong to Vietnam Race, così ridenominata oggi la regata dagli organizzatori). Alle 15.10 ora locale (7.10 UTC, 9.10 ora italiana), con un vento tra i 12 e i 15 nodi da Est e un mare piatto, Maserati Multi 70 ha superato la linea di partenza nel canale di Hong Kong, di fronte al Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, sulla scia di SHK Scallywag Fuku. Sarà importante non farci distanziare dal nostro concorrente alla partenza dentro il canale, dove c'è meno vento. SHK Scallywag Fuku è un trimarano di 60 piedi, molto più leggero di Maserati Multi 70, ed è quindi estremamente avvantaggiato con venti deboli. In condizioni di vento forte e mare formato noi siamo sicuramente più a nostro agio, cercheremo di controllare il nostro concorrente e di non lasciare distanza laterale. Le barche più leggere sono molto forti con vento in poppa come quello previsto per la regata, ma sono convinto che con onda lunga riusciremo a fare la differenza. In this sailing Bluefin episode we continue to sail up the NSW coast from Forster to Camden Haven. Camden Haven is a great anchorage on the NSW East Coast of Australia that welcomes all sailors! We arrived at the anchorage we docked the boat at the Laurieton Services Club wharf and were told by a fellow sailor that the country style, Sunday markets would be on the next day. On Sunday we got the chance to explore the Sunday markets with our german shepherd, Rex, by our side, who attracted lots of attention with his good looks. The markets were amazing and sold everything from beautiful, hand made, glass jewellery, to fresh fruit and veggies! One of our most exciting finds at the markets was the beeswax wraps, wax wraps or sometimes called eco food wraps. This was very exciting as we were looking for a way to reduce our plastic waste, especially cling wrap. We show you a quick, how to, for the beeswax wraps and also give you some info on the benefits of using them. Later on in the episode we visit the fish co-op, scoring ourselves some leather jacket, and then sit back and watch the incredible east coast lightning storm from the safety of the dock. The Irish Sailing All Ireland Championships saw two days of racing in mixed weather. Organised by Irish Sailing and hosted by the National Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire, 16 nominees from different classes competed to be "champion of champions". Using the Flying Fifteens, it was SB20 sailors Michael O'Connor and Davy Turner of the Royal St George Yacht Club who claimed the title.

It was also time for another bottom clean and this time Shaun was able to convince Brittany to dive it with him. It wasn't as bad as she expected but has dubbed it "Hazmat Harbor" because there can't be that much water movement being in the far back of the Harbor. We think this is how to clean the bottom of a boat but are not professionals. Is this how you do it? Scrape it? Do you use a brittle pad? The X-Yachts 482 is one of the most successful models of the Danish yacht builder X- Yachts, whose core values are quality in design, construction and equipment. The 482 was built from ’96 to ’04 and are known for her clean hull lines with very pleasing sheer and broad transom with integral steps for ease of access from the water and tender. Her hull and deck layup is in GRP with foam sandwich and a unique galvanized steel frame provides structural support for her rig and keel loads.The deck is well designed with a raised coaming around the companionway, which stores the folded sprayhood and breaks up the long cabin trunk. All halyards are led aft under the coach roof to the powerful Harken winches. The cockpit features a massive steering wheel with well, with mainsheet and traveller right at the helmsman side. The primary Harken winches are electric, making light work of trimming the double headsails. Xirene’s warm and welcoming interior has the comfortable three-cabin layout, with the very large, en-suite, owners cabin up forward.
