The Lagoon 421 is often described as the perfect cruising catamaran; she has an improved sailing performance over the 420 model and combines great ‘live aboard’ accommodations with thoroughly modern sailing attributes. When it comes to sailing the Lagoon 421 comes into its own, the sheets and control lines have all been arranged to work on three electric winches and line stoppers conveniently positioned next to the helm. The electric winches are a great bonus for easy sail trimming. Powered by two economical 40 hp Yanmar engines she motors effortlessly with low fuel consumption. Her spacious cockpit can seat 8 around the dining table, with great access to the saloon through the large sliding door and window. The helm is raised to starboard, which allows good all-round visibility, whilst still in full contact with the cockpit and close to the saloon. For many couples and families, this is a much sought after feature. Set up for cruising, “Retired by Friday” is the popular 3 bedroom version with the port hull dedicated to the owners, with a large luxury bathroom and outstanding living areas. **NOW SOLD ** Akaroa is a 2011 Hanse 400 that is now listed exclusively for sale with YOTI on Pittwater. Akaroa was one of the very last 400's imported into the country and is offered for sale by her original owner. The Hanse 400's were the most successful model to date globally under the German manufacturers. This is a much loved easy to handle performer all in a magic 40 foot package and Akaroa has a comprehensive inventory and presents in excellent condition. Being one of the latest 400's she was smartly chosen with twin wheels. Her layout is versatile being the three cabin footprint (large owner's cabin forward and double aft to starboard) plus the third cabin space to port is currently used as a storage area/sail locker (with custom storage dividers and racks) and could easily be used for accommodation if chosen. Akaroa boasts an impressive inventory plus almost every important extra was chosen on original order. Instruments are by Simrad and Raymarine and include a new chart plotter in the cockpit (2019) with AIS and importantly the underdeck auto-pilot is included. Being a Hanse, the self-tacking jib makes for seriously easy shorthanded sailing plus the sail wardrobe includes an overlapping genoa (on the factory fitted adjustable cars and tracks) plus an asymmetric spinnaker / gennaker. This is an extremely flexible sail plan. An electric halyard winch makes hoisting the main a pleasure. An inflatable dinghy and outboard are included. Akaroa is the best specified 400 we have seen in years plus her condition will genuinely impress. Finally there is a decision! Panama Canal we are coming! We're going to the Pacific! After I'm still alone in the Shelter Bay Marina, Mario gives me the go to organize the channel crossing. For a long time it was questionable for us in which direction we should continue after the robbery- via USA back to the safe Mediterranean Sea or hold on to our dream and sail into the Pacific.
