Today we have something very special! Our friends Jerry and Judy have graciously allowed me to do a yearly service on their prized 1969 Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet “Lemon Drop”. The car had a complete restoration in the early 2000s. VW air-cooled Beetles were designed to be maintained and are quite easy to work on. A super special thanks to Marcelo Tonella for his shout-out on his amazing VW channel out of Brazil: https://www.youtube.com/user/marcelotonella He is a true VW “Whisperer” with the sole of John Muir… I wish I could understand a bit more Portuguese, but it is beautiful to listen to and the videos are very fun to watch. His daughter is behind the camera to bring us a wide verity of VW topics. Check it out!! Welcome ALL our new friends from Brazil! This video is in appreciation of all your beautiful comments and the love from a region that still greatly cherishes these unique cars. Thanks you so much for your support and welcome! Music by Huxlay (https://soundcloud.com/huxlay) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I've also created an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to purchase specific items I'll need as the build continues: http://a.co/dx7F4dz I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 - What're your plans? Fix it up, run nothing but green power, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

In this video, The Romance of Sailing, Dan and Hadley Tell All!, we take the boat out for our second time and take in a beautiful sunset off Chebucto Head (Nova Scotia), then take the time to share with you how we got started in sailing, when we met and how we came to sail on Balachandra. If you like our videos, please SUBSCRIBE to see more, and be sure to give this video a like, Thanks! In August of 2017 I sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is my YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and the occasional crewmembers(s) as we navigate the east coast of North America and beyond. I also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard in a cold climate. Sailing Balachandra is published weekly so please subscribe so you don't miss out on future videos! Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** This video marks a (dare I say: triumphant?!) return to the chronicles of our world travels. After helping safely deliver s/v Julia across the Pacific, we were in no hurry to leave Hawaii, especially since neither of us had ever visited before! We spent a week in total which included a quick road trip around the big island of Hawaii (yes, it's its own island) visiting the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park as well as a few of the more colorful beaches. But I have to say the highlight of the week was getting to visit Pearl Harbor. It was a very sobering experience, matched only by my visit to Normandy years earlier, but it was an important reminder of the tragedies of war and the sacrifices of previous generations to help deliver us to where we are today. If you visit Oahu, it should be a must stop. The next video will be back aboard Starry Horizons in Tonga, so be sure to subscribe and check back for more of our South Pacific adventures! E64 Weekly Vlog of Life in a Nutshell narrowboat travels. We continue to head north and cruise on the River Soar. We make it up to the Erewash Canal and spend the night moored next to the pub. A few ales in the pub and the next morning we cruise the final few miles to the winding hole and our first turnaround point. Heading back south now, we spend a lovely day on the cut, enjoying the beautiful weather and stunning autumn scenery. Once at the Loughborough Basin we meet up with nutters from all over the country at the Swan in the Rushes for a few farewell ales and stores. The next day is handover day to the new owners of Nutshell, Glenn and Lisa Warner. She is now in good hands and we will be heading off to Panama to new adventures. Lisa and Glenn are now selling their lovey 45ft cruiser stern, narrowboat.

We make a trip to Maine to show our short film in the International Maritime film Festival in Bucksport, Maine. On the way we catch up with old friends and make new ones, we visit Wooden Boat and Alix even goes for a sail. We met Kourtney and Pete from the channel Accidental Sailor Girl. They are really great people and if you haven't check it out yet, here's the link to Kourtney's channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/AccidentalSailorGirl --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Hey everyone! First, yes I know we're still wearing sunglasses- we filmed this at the same time as part 1 (if you haven't seen that already- just go to our page and check it out!). Sorry- we'll take them off next time. OKAY! More of your burning sailing questions answered including, but not limited to, our sailing plans, how we met, what we regret about our watermaker, boat and health insurance, navigating using a tablet, and just how smelly we get when we're sailing! In this video I show how you can use 2.5mm2 copper wire to make busbars. The method of twisted wire has already proven itself by many Powerwall builders. I did not come up with this system, but I do want to explain you how to make them. For more info, you can also visit www.diypowerwalls.com On this forum, you can find alot of info about all of this.

Hi Everyone, While I was working on the Convertible top latch motor repair I noticed some “extra” noise from the Climate Control Unit (CCU HVAC) in our 1995 Porsche 993 Cabriolet. It is actually a super easy repair and in this video I walk you through all the steps. When you get done your little fan will be quiet as a church mouse 😊 Tools and parts: • Four small Philips screwdrivers • Normal size Phillips screwdriver • 7mm nut driver • Wheel bearing grease We hope you enjoyed the video. If you did, please give it a “Thumbs up” and Subscribe to Heidi and Franny’s Garage for more videos to come. It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. ***** Over the past three years and 25,000nm, we've turned Starry Horizons, our Fountaine Pajot Helia 44 catamaran, into a true blue water sailing boat. We figured it might be helpful to do a walk-through and highlight what features are important and what options we chose during outfitting that help us feel confident to cross oceans. This isn't a true Helia tour video since there are lots of those on YouTube, but hopefully you'll get a better idea of what a well kitted cruising catamaran looks like. We covered a lot, but if you've got more questions, leave a comment and we'll do our best to answer! Or you can check out our blog and FB where we've posted quite a bit more technical details over the years: http://www.outchasingstars.com https://www.facebook.com/outchasingstars For those of you looking to outfit your own boat, we worked with Pat Reischmann as we worked to set up Starry Horizons. You can find more info about him here: http://www.hy-techmarine.com (UPDATE) Opps! I forgot to include the info on the square top attachment method we've been using. In this video, Can We Do It? Sailing Balachandra On Our Own for the First Time!, we arrive back in Halifax then we take the boat out on our own for the very first time without a captain! We climb one of the WORLDS most active VOLCANO's, spitting lava. Then go cooking in the boiling hot springs... https://www.sailingnandji.com CLICK THE BELL to know when NEW Nandji Videos are up! In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we rise at 2am to climb one of the world's most active volcanoes. Mt Yasur on Tanna island, Vanuatu. We climb to the top of the crater in the pitch dark and look down into the depths of the earth. The volcano spits lava, volcanic ash and sulphur into the sky. This level 2 activity that we witness means there could be an explosion at anytime and the volcano could spit lava as high as the crest of the crater. Exactly where we were standing. Mt Yasur volcano is one of the craziest natural things we have ever witnessed, its shear power was relentless and breath taking. We then go trekking around Port Resolution with a young machete wielding guide who explains to us how they cook with the natural hot springs. Excited by how they do this, we test out the boiling hot springs and try a little extreme volcano cooking our selves. We take some eggs to the rocks and cook our breakfast in the hot springs. We try to anyway... Lets make NANDJI better! Nandji has a new windvane ordered! YEW! It is because of all you great people, we have raised enough funds to get a self steering aid on the back of Nandji. We are currently waiting for it to arrive so we can install it! Nandji is an older boat and we have plenty of items that we are trying to afford. A new windlass, an autopilot, a downwind sail. Just to name a few. This is a pioneer 10 inch sub tuned at 35 Hz running bridged at 8 ohm off two of the channels on a JL m600/6. I could wire this speaker at 2 ohms or I could separate the coils at 4 ohms and not bridge the amp. I am not sure if the amp can handle 2 ohm mono, the tech sheet does not look like this is supported. #chrisdoeswhat #dininginwithdanielle #homaidchef

We finally made it! In October of this year we upped sticks from Brighton - UK and moved to Greece to live aboard our 53' Amel Super Maramu yacht. An unbelievably emotional and stressful time leading up to the day, but so much relief when we finally stepped aboard. A lifelong dream and a decade of ambitious planning - all the hard work and financial sacrifice has finally paid off. I don't think either of us has ever worked so hard and so long to realise a dream. So yes, we finally made it. We're now anchored in Greece in Two Rocks Bay where we've found time to catch up on some vlogging! I can't remember when the last vlog was, but there's been so much going on. Woody went to the boatyard in Greece - twice - with his Dad and then some mates to organise engineers, get the boat ready, launch it and do a shakedown sail. So while Woody was getting the boat ready I was organizing renting our home and making sure all the jobs were done to the house. There were lots of unfinished DIY jobs that I did with help from my friends. I was also trying to pack our bags to bring out you know, we had eight bags, a hundred and sixty kilos of luggage so I was trying to work out what we needed. I was also trying to order things for the boat which we needed like kiddy netting, a new computer, a printer, paperwork from the business, as well as doing our tax returns. I was trying to sort out health insurance cards, home schooling and in the evenings I would do tea and then when the kids went to bed I pretty much carried on for another five hours and evening working. I managed to fit in a little party on one afternoon too! Music by Dixxy (https://soundcloud.com/dixxy-2) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I've also created an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to purchase specific items I'll need as the build continues: http://a.co/dx7F4dz I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world.

When buying an AC, don't let them take you to the cleaners, get bids from multiple vendors, and don't overbuy. You have to figure out what size unit you need based on home and location variables. Also, don't overbuy on efficacy, you may never see a return on the extra you spent. Settling into island life, we explore the beautiful island of Tanna, Vanuatu. Take a step back in time... https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we check ourselves into Vanuatu at a small village on the west coast of Tanna island, Vanuatu. We have a little explore and head out to drink some kava. With a rolling anchorage, we get frustrated and sail into the strong trade wind for 13 hours to the other side of the island where we find a beautiful anchorage. We then go for a crazy island car ride across the island returning to Lenakel to visit the local markets. We drive past the furious volcano and get our first glimpse of this beast. If you would like to assist in the Sailing Nandji journey, we welcome any contributions!
