This is a very cheap way to restore your headlights look and brightness for driving. If you have sun-damaged headlights, what will it hurt to try this method? Yellow headlights just don't look good, they really make it hard to drive at night. Link for wash and wax: https://amzn.to/2UBicRw We have bought headlight restore kits in the past and they are complicated, expensive, and the results are never what the picture on the box looks like. We have had great results from just using toothpaste and elbow grease. This is a fun park well off the beaten path so it's not busy at all. The road coming in is a bit rough so really take it slow if you like your car. The Boardwalk Cotee River preserve has a well-maintained boardwalk well above the marshlands below. Keeping you close to nature, but not so close nature gets you. Speaking of nature, while we only saw squirrels while there, if you're lucky you may discover all kinds of wildlife. Watch out for the nature that bites, you may also come across snakes, bobcats, or black bears, so be careful as you explore in the great state of Florida. Cotee River We really wanted to see the river, guess it was down that tractor trail in the video we didn't explore.  The Cotee River does run all the way to the Gulf of Mexico, and while you can't Kyaka here, it is teaming with all kinds of nature that travel its currents. So if you venture this park, take the trail less traveled and check it out. They Have Teeter Totters It was a beautiful warm day during our exploration and still very little visitors. Those of you with kids can really take advantage of the nice playground at Cotee River Preserve. All the playgrounds facilities were in great working order, please keep them that way so everyone can enjoy them.  For more information: https://www.pascocountyfl.net/657/Upper-Pithlachascotee-River-Preserve You can also follow us on our blog: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/ Or go directly to cooking: https://www.dininginwithdanielle.com If you have a request, please see our blog and go to contact. https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/contact-us/ Current Video & Blog Productions: Florida Landscapes Explore Florida Recipes with Danielle DIY and HowTo Reviews YouTube Playlist Explore Florida: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/y_explore_florida Equipment: All videos are edited with Sony VEGAS Pro https://amzn.to/2GrzE77 Our video studio does have a green screen with umbrella lighting https://amzn.to/2BVIlpq All recording equipment is Sony and our main camera is the HDR-CX675 offering servo steadied filming and 5.1 sound. https://amzn.to/2BlJxQb Affiliate Links: - Shop Amazon at no cost to you, and helps our channel: https://amzn.to/2SMfsjS - Shop Target at no cost to you, and helps our channel: https://goto.target.com/xkbJ1 - Easy low-cost Financial Investing: Acorns Investment - https://www.acorns.com/invite?code=ach8rs - Best Blog Hosting: https://www.bluehost.com/?utm_source=www.chrisdoeswhat.com&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=affiliate-link_chrisdoeswhat_notype Music: Intro/Outro: Elliot Berger - The Nameless Fun For All AgesDescription  The Preserve is dominated by 69 acres of bottomland forest associated with the Pithlachascotee River and a small tributary - Ryals Branch - that crosses the site. The other natural communities are sandhill, upland mixed forest, and freshwater marshes. Protected wildlife species documented or likely to occur include the gopher tortoise, Florida mouse, gopher frog, little blue heron and snowy egret. The Preserve has 5 Geocaches as well as 2 miles of trails including a 1,500-foot boardwalk. This is a preserve, which differs from an active park by having low-impact amenities and natural resource-based recreational facilities. We started the anchor locker refit to hopefully stop our major leak. But working with fiberglass is so itchy. Funny how sailboat projects never end but at least our small sailboat keeps improving. And the more things that break while at the marina the less we'll have to do when we take off. #sailboatliving #sailboatrefitprojects #wildlyintrepid ***************************************** Help the videos stay alive by becoming a patron or donating. Without other boat kids around and a repair list as long as our boat, we decided to try out the local Spanish schools for the winter so that the kids learn a bit of Spanish, meet some other kids their own age and we can crack on with our jobs aboard. We also celebrated The Day of The Dead " Dia del Muertos" and got down to some serious bike maintenance and testing. Now that all the other boat cruising families have set sail, we decided to try out the local schools in Spain so that the kids are with children their own age. It was very strange on Rowans first day, she had never been to secondary school and not speaking Spanish didn't help. The boys started a few days later with a long list of stationary we had to translate and purchase. And so the daily commute to school started at 7.30 in the morning on the school bus for Rowan and a 2 mile cycle along the beach for the boys. We all had a new challenge to master the Spanish language! Then after, some good friends from England came to visit and we prepared for Halloween and to celebrate Dia del Muertos or All Saints Day as is more important in Spain. After another sad goodbye, Woody got on with making an outboard stand to service the outboards and Irenka did another epic bike repair, maintenance and testing day, getting the kids involved as much as possible. Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** Sailing Zoomies = Starry Horizons speak for sailing fast. Just in case you were wondering... :D We had 380nm to cover in order to sail from the Banda Islands over to Hoga in Indonesia's Wakatobi National Park and faced a "tough" choice. Sail fast and make this a two night passage or sail slow and make it a three night passage? The wind looked like it was going to cooperate, so of course we decide to make a run for it. Along the way we actually managed to catch a couple fish, dodged some of the infinite number of FADS (fish attraction devices) in Indonesia and got practice reefing our main again thanks to a few squalls. And to make sure this qualified as a true sailing passage, we even had a few things break as well! Thanks for watching! (Footage from August 2018) Curious for more up to date info on where we are and what we're doing? Make sure to check out our other social media pages! For today's Casual Friday video we're asking YOU for some advice. Where would you put the wind generator on our boat? On a separate mast between the solar arch and the boom, on the backstay, on the main mast in a removable install, or do you have another suggest that we didn't think about? Part of why we love creating on YouTube is that we always have our audience to ask for ideas if we need them. I have no doubt the solution we go with will be one suggested in the comments below, so thank you in advance! We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way. Marine Electronics: Communications at Sea , Navigation and Sailing Apps / From Sextant to Iridium Go as well as Sailboat navigation through the last 50 years!! Patrick Childress Sailing Videos #35 This is a tour of our Chart Table on our Blue water Sailboat, as we are sailing around the world on our Valiant 40. At our Nav station we have an array of marine electronics for sailing navigation and communication while we are at sea including Navionics electronic charting. Our Raymarine chartplotter and Radar, a Vespermarine AIS Transponder, Iridium GO! and Predictwind with Xgate on the IPad Pro are what we use now. Patrick shows how he navigated his Catalina 27 Juggernaut, circumnavigating in the 1970s with no gps, using only a sextant, an RDF, and paper charts. In 2007, we began our circumnavigation with a small Raymarine chart plotter and Tacktick wireless sailing instruments, Navionics electronic charts, with a laptop, OpenCPN and .kap charts as a backup sailboat navigation system. We used the Icom 710 SSB radio with a Pactor 3 Modem with Airmail/Winlink/Sailmail for staying in touch with other boats and our families. Later we purchased an Ipad with the best sailing apps for navigation, and electronic charts and sailing apps including Navionics, TimeZero iboat, and Ovitalmap. But the Iridum GO! and Predictwind for communication at sea, and for getting our wind and ocean currents while sailing offshore has been a great improvement for marine navigation, communications at sea, getting weather at sea, and for our safety! When the flames get low and erratic on a gas stove it's usually a blocked jet. Our oven is going slow on Fair Isle so it's time to take the jets out to clean them. P.S. We will be adding lots of tips on anything to do with sailing on our new website. There's a 'Tips and Tricks' page and a technical page for all the geeky stuff. We had a great time, made some great friends and shared our lives a step past our videos... They came as strangers to us and left as great friends, although they had a pretty good idea of who we are before the came Lol! Simply an opportunity to share with the world, more of the adventure, and that’s what we are all about… You too can spend an all inclusive week with us aboard our catamaran Saltair3 learning how to live a life on the sea and leave a small environmental foot print, how to prepare, repair, provision, catch fish and lobster, how to safely check into foreign countries and learn to sail a Big Cat, or just sit back, relax and enjoy being aboard Saltair3 in the warm and beautiful Caribbean Sea. Our goal this week was to find a way of connecting the drain and the water source of our plywood bathtub. We rounded up every corner of the wooden box using a structural filler, and we also waterproof the plywood using epoxy resin to get it ready for the fiberglass cloth. ___________________________________ Support our series: http://www.patreon.com/oddlifecrafting (Become a Patreon to get instant access to behind the scenes, extra pictures, perks, and even more) _______________________________________ For PayPal donation you can use: eduardocassol@gmail.com Binge watch our series from the beginning: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4cGhq-GjyFk0inZOrhl3IeU9SshIpp7o #shippingcontainerhouse #tinyhouse #DIY

Part of the cruising lifestyle that has always appealed to us is the ability to catch our own food. In this episode we go out searching for lobster that we can catch and cook for ourselves, using only the solar power we have aboard our fully electric sailboat. We had previously gone out to delta shoal for some spearfishing, but had not seen any lobster. We decided to return to this area, but check out other spots where we thought we were more likely to find lobster. Spiny lobster like to hide under some form of cover, typically rocky ledges. When hunting for lobster in the keys, you are not allowed to spear them, instead you must use a "tickle stick" and net or grab them with a gloved hand to remove them from their hiding spot. Snares are also acceptable. This proves lobster to be a little challenging and definitely very fun to catch. This was at the end of lobster season in Florida, meaning most lobster that are of legal size have been caught by commercial fishermen using traps. Finding two legal size lobster this time of year was definitely an accomplishment for us. Since we are spending a good amount of our time out in the sun, we try to be smart about sun protection. Jordan opts for covering up as much as possible. I typically use sunscreen though, I am looking at finding a good dive skin after spending too much time in the sun without reapplying (we initially planned on wearing wet suits, but it was plenty warm). Here is some information about sunscreen mentioned in this video: FDA press release regarding sunscreen- https://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm631736.htm Bee-utiful Balms by Giselle (maker of sunscreen used by Randi in this episode)- https://facebook.com/madebygiselle/ https://instagram.com/beeutifulbalms?utm_source=ig_profile_share&igshid=7m3gq9slq03b Stream2Sea (we'll be trying out their products soon, thanks for the suggestion!)- https://stream2sea.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines Amazon Wish List: http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/2FFJ6SE8DI80V ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. Trailer Swing Tongue from Fulton was easy to install and did what we needed. We can now fit the boat trailer in the garage to keep it out of the weather and if you live in an HOA it is a great option. This installation will only take less than an hour if you are not creating a video to show how to do it. If you have a boat that is 18 feet or less "depending on your garage", this is a great kit for you to convert your trailer. For cutting the tongue off the grinder I used is a great option and a budget-friendly price. In this weeks episode we do something a bit different. The boat needed to be dried out to work under the waterline, so instead of paying big bucks for a haul out we just let the tide do the work! Check out our new website and blog, where Niamh goes over her side of the story and gives a better insight into why we are here in the first place Check it out here ---- https://sailingyachtzora.com/ ---- Supporting Zora: Thank you for watching and sharing these videos, they take a lot of time in an already very busy boat building and working schedule. Mid-Summer we hauled the boat out. The yacht club required us to do so in order to obtain accurate measurements of the overall length and beam occupied in the slip. This also gave us a quick opportunity to inspect the bottom and all penetrations (the thru-hull fittings and the centerboards). This was going to be an episode of Sailing 9 LIVES, but we decided to go another direction with the last episode. So, this little maintenance video was produced and kept fairly short. We can't produce quality inspirational content indefinitely without the support of our fans. Please, consider becoming a patron today and help us to create art and spread positive messages about living life to the fullest! https://www.patreon.com/9LIVES Thank you!

After having stripped Victoria of her interior, we now move on to disassembling her hull by removing her cockpit, aft deck and then her rudder. Almost all of the mahogany that is being stripped from her is being saved and we will reuse as much of it as we can in Arabella's build. As for her rudder, the hardware is priceless to us. All of her rudder hardware, excluding the tiller head, will be reused. Proceeds from this video will go to the Coral Reef Alliance, but you can also support us directly (and specifically the production of these videos) by becoming a Patron: https://www.patreon.com/theadventuresoftarka Tarka is a 1973 Albin Vega 27 (8.2m) that I bought sight-unseen and without sailing experience on the island of St. Martin in April of 2017. I was thrust head-first into ocean sailing as I got Tarka safely south from what would become the most devastating hurricane seasons on record. We are now working our way west towards the Pacific. I am sailing Tarka around the world in part to raise money and awareness for coral conservation by supporting the Coral Reef Alliance. READ THIS DESCRIPTION FOR BEST OPTIONS: Catamaran Impi is sailing around the world. For Impi, cruising pleasure comes from doing preventative maintenance projects and this is about our QUICK windlass strip and assemble project with a 10 year old windlass on a boat that sails full time and occupants who live at anchor all over the world. I am not one to feel passionate about doing technical videos, however, when folks heard I was stripping our windlass to replace bearings and seals, brushes to the motor and more, they asked me to please video the event. This video is therefore for ordinary sailors like you and me (and not for the expert) - it is how we achieve this with limited means and with limited resources to tools living on our boat. After two and a half weeks of waiting, we finally got a mooring ball in Boot Key Harbor. Now the real work (and fun) begins. We drove up to Tampa to pick up our new electric dinghy motor as well as to visit with family. When we got back to the harbor, we immediately tested the new motor out by taking her for a spin to go scout out some lobster spots. Although the visibility was bad, leading to it being quite a challenge to find lobster holes, we had a successful first test of the motor, and a great day out on the water. That evening, we made sushi from some yellow jack that Adventureman Dan gifted us. This is liveaboard boat life in the Florida Keys. Adventureman Dan's social media: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxWHluHfo7zYO1VNXlZk1Fw https://www.facebook.com/adventuremandan1/ More information on the radio towers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_y_Televisi%C3%B3n_Mart%C3%AD We'll do a review of the electric outboard in a month or two after we've had a chance to put it to the test. We escape winter and slip down to Cayo Coco for a week of beach, snorkeling and sailing on a catamaran! (no we're not going to the dark side) We're invited to an amazing underground CAVE PARTY and then we make a HUGE announcement for 2019! Also back in Halifax we re-bed our starboard side porthole which has been leaking for a while now. If you like these videos, please SUBSCRIBE to see more, and be sure to give this video a like! In August of 2017 I sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is our YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and the occasional crewmembers(s) as we navigate the east coast of North America and beyond. We also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard in a cold climate. Sailing Balachandra is published weekly so please subscribe so you don't miss out on future videos! For centuries, these islands were the epicenter of the Asian spice trade as they were the only place in the world that grew nutmeg. The Dutch and the British fought for control over these islands, with brutal results for the native Bandanese population. These days, nutmeg is grown all over the world (thanks to the British finally transplanting some in the 1800's) but a visit to Banda took us back to a time when these islands some of the most expensive real estate in the world. I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

In our wintering marina, we were overjoyed to be surrounded by several families cruising with kids. We did lots of fun things together going for beach walks, laser tag, the children got very creative doing cooking, arts and crafts and the adults experimented with new cultural habits such as eating deep fried #mars bars. The weather turned to rainstorms and all the families headed West to cross the Atlantic towards the Caribbean. We were all very sad to say goodbye . We took some walks along the beach and the children couldn't resist a swim. The girls then set up a whole fashion show on the pontoon while the boys provided the backdrop...kind of. Then the children decided to cook a feast of a meal for all their parents, by shopping cooking and even setting up a pop up restaurant on the pontoon entertained by live music. We took the children to #megazone or #laserzone as it is sometimes known and for more #beachwalks. The adults also had some fun and our Scottish friend introduced the deep fried mars bar challenge, which we decided would be a good criteria for completing the Atlantic #ARC race for #cruisers. As the fair weather turned to rain and storms, the cruising families set sail and headed West towards the Caribbean. We were all sad to say goodbye and the children seem to struggle even more with the farewells. We reflected on the reason why we could not go with them this year and thought about the places still to explore in the Med for one more season. Our second big project on "Cuddles". Originally, we were planning on keeping our marine toilet and just wanted to fix it. I've dealt with marine toilets before and right away decided to replace the hand pump assembly and one of the hoses since there was a leak. After spending money on new pump assembly and new hoses and whole day crawling in some tight spaces, I thought I was done. Week later we ended up with the same leaking issues and at that point we were done with marine toilets, really done!! We researched composting toilets a few months earlier and didn't want to spend the money on it but after dealing with all of existing toilet issues, we decided to pull the trigger and get Airhead composting toilet. In this video, you will see our struggle with our marine toilet and eventually taking it out and installing new Airhead composting toilet. We also ended up changing venting location for our composting toilet after a month with Airhead. With our new composting toilet, there is no more smell, no more pump outs, no more random leaks. We love it!! Sailboat: 1984 Freedom 32
