In front of Marseille are Les Îles (the Frioul Islands) which is a rocky archipelago with sandy beaches, hiking trails and a rich flora and bird world. One of the islands is Île d'If, known for its 16th century castle and prison, it is the place where the book 'The Count of Monte Cristo' by Alexandre Dumas is located is playing. When we sailed into one of the bays of the islands, called Calanque de Morgiret, I was blown away by it’s beauty! It was almost 360 degrees surrounded by the white walls of the Calanques, the water was crystal clear, almost transparent. We anchored here and stayed here for 3 days.

Comment régler ses voiles ? Les réglages dans les canaux inter îles. Nous quittons Saint Georges à Grenade ce matin à 5h pour rejoindre la Martinique. Une navigation prévue sans escale. Nous décidons de modifier notre programme au regard de la météo. Naviguer dans le sud Caraïbes est particulier. Il est extrêment facile en partant de la Martinique de descendre à Grenade en profitant des sublimes paysages et eaux des Grenadines. En effet la navigation se fait plus ou moins au portant - vent trois quart arrière - avec un vent constant et une forme de trajectoire à la fois douce et linéaire. La remonté quant à elle peut surprendre. On découvre alors des éléments restés jusqu'alors invisibles : - sur ce chapelet d'îles Caraïbes, chacune se décale de la précédente un peu plus vers l'est, - le vent vient majoritairement de l'est, - concernant le vent les effets de site peuvent être assez marqués, - entre les îles, les courants pouvant être très forts viennent également de l'est, - les courants de marée sont aussi de la partie. Bref, tous les ingrédients sont réunis pour que, même en serrant le vent au maximum, la dérive nous éloigne inexorablement de notre objectif.
