For this year, the 9th of June. A date that nearly all cat sailors in Holland, and lots of cat sailors around the world, highlighted in their agenda's months befiore. Ojn Friday, heavy airs, rain and massive waves at sea frightended sailors as well as organisers that the weather conditions would not allow - the Round the Island Race - to take place. For the first time in the 35 years' history of the event, the organisers decided to have Sunday as a reserve. During the morning of Sunday, the 10th of June, the sky cleared, and the 35th Round Texel Race took place in most favorable conditions. Carolijn Brouwer, ISAF World Sailor of the Year of 1998, won the event, as well as 1st prize as Mixed team, with crewing partner Wouter Samama..
