Lijia Xu (CHN) clinched the first gold for a Chinese and Asian sailor in a dinghy at London 2012 and was nominated for ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year. Here Xu talks about her nomination and the final race.

2012 ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Nominee - Saskia Sills (GBR) stormed to RS:XGirls gold at the 2012 Four Star Pizza ISAF Youth Worlds and took European glory. She has had a fantastic year and is back at the hotel where she stayed during the Youth Worlds.

Helena Lucas (GBR) brushed aside the male dominated 2.4mR fleet at the London 2012 Paralympic Sailing Competition. She was the only female in the fleet and was nominated for ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year following her achievements.

Sailing into San Diego bay. The city is beautiful and the port is really interesting, with a mix of pleasure craft, commercial, and military traffic. Scuba Diving in the waters around Tobelo on N. Halmahera region of Halmahera Island in Indonesia is spectacularly beautiful with great visibility, dramatic walls, and incredibly colorful and diverse marine life. Do 5 dives with us in this clip: a sea mount, a beach dive in front of the Govt. Tourism dive center at Kakara island, 2 dramatic walls, and the unique dive at the UW volcano where you can see and feel warm water gushing out of the mini-"calderas" and see how the sea life has adapted and thrives here. For the moment, diving is arranged for certified divers through the govt. tourism office, but a private dive center, Karianga, with a Certified Instructor is in the development stage at this time, by owner, Jono Gaza, who is working in cooperation with the tourism office. From Tobelo town on the Northern district of Halmahera Island in Indonesia, one can make a nice day trip to scenic Kalimede Waterfall, and end an active day with a well-earned soak in Mamuya Hot Springs. The trailhead to the falls is about 45 min drive from Tobelo. Hike through cacao and nutmeg tree plantations, see the sago palm from which sweet sap is collected to make palm sugar, find wild fruits, and after about 2 hrs of light-to-medium-difficulty walking, descend into the river canyon and be treated to Kalimede falls and pool, which are illuminated by the sun shining through a natural skylight in the rock. Perfect for swimming and picnicking. Back at the car, travel another few miles to Mamuya Hot Springs and relax in the perfect temperature of the natural pool. Boatmeal cookies with raisins. Great!! Breakfast Cookies 3 mashed bananas (ripe) 1/3 cup apple sauce 2 cups uncooked quick-cooking oats 1/4 cup skim milk 1/2 cup raisins (or any other dried fruit you want to add) 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp cinnamon (1 tbsp sugar or other sweetener, if you really want it sweeter, but I think it's sweet enough) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients in a bowl really well. Heap the dough by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes and let cool. Variations: Add chopped nuts, and substitute dried cranberries for raisins, if you don't like raisins. This is from the first day of our shakedown cruise to San Diego. We had been planning this for about a month. We planned on sailing to San Diego to pick up the spinnaker poke and other parts for the sailboat, from the previous owner that had graciously been storing them for us. We also wanted to test all the systems that we had installed and see what would need more work.
