Today I decided to remove a few of the teak planks that appeared to be rotted. I removed the sealant, the boards and then used an ultrasonic scraper to remove the old sealant/epoxy that had been put down once before when it appears someone worked on the teak in the past. Getting reacquainted with White Raven after a 6 month hiatus. Light to no winds to start the afternoon, and then we had a nice 5-6 knot breeze out of the ENE. Still need to perform some patch work on the jib and our actual main sail, so we pulled down the jib right before the breeze struck. The battered old main from a J-24 is a bit baggy so there’s more heeling than would be seen with a nice flat main. Hopefully we can get the main sail and jib patched before our next outing! Leg 4 to Auckland. Day 7. Yet another mechanical challenge onboard Dongfeng Race Team, when the halyard locking system broke in the middle of the night, preventing them from using their J1. After seven hours of work in the dark, a workaround with another halyard allowed them to put their J1 back up.

We decided to sell the house and buy a farm. Our kitchen was badly in need of remodeling. Initially, we were going to give it a simple facelift with new cabinets and counter tops, but that led to removing walls, rewiring, re-lighting, and new drywall. Now we have a brand new design and are working toward transforming the entire kitchen and eating areas!
