We are in a place where we can buy accessories to improve our audio quality and finish up with Jack's water maker. So, we rented a car for 2 days to be able to visit all stores in a shorter time. We also visited a rain forest - the only tropical forest in the USA. It was a lovely place with rich fauna and flora. The day after we met one more time Terry, a guy who was sitting in the marina in George Town during the hurricane with us. It was so funny as we neither called each other nor tried to get in touch, and again we are staying together at the same place. We also visited El Morro fort, the biggest one in the Caribbean. We are an international couple - Jack (from France), Kateryna (from Ukraine). We have been crossing this wonderful life together since 10 years. Finally (after many years of dreaming) we are living a "true" life. We have a plan to sail across all oceans (almost), and will be happy to share this adventurous lifestyle with you! Tem um ditado popular, criado por marinheiros portugueses, que atualmente faz muito sentido na minha vida: "Quem vai ao mar, avia-se em terra!". O que vamos tratar nesse vídeo não é, evidentemente, fruto da nossa experiência com naufrágio, graças a Deus! Mas é fruto de leituras sobre experiências de pessoas que passaram por isso e de nossas reflexões. Quando você viaja de navio ou de avião, tem alguém que faz isso por você. Como estamos velejando no próprio barco, por nossa conta e risco, essa preocupação com segurança tem que ser nossa. Extintor de Incêndio, Cinto de Segurança, Colete Salva-Vidas e Balsa de Salvatagem são obviamente imprescindíveis, embora espera-se nunca precisar usá-los. Além desses itens, no Zíngaro o náufrago também terá direito a um Saco de Salvatagem! ;-) Não que a gente pretenda usá-lo. Longe disso! ;-) A riqueza de detalhes do nosso "Saco de Salvatagem" foi inspirada no livro "À Deriva, Setenta e Seis Dias Perdido no Mar", de Steven Callahan. Esse foi o primeiro livro que o Gui me emprestou pra ler, bem no início do namoro. Até hoje não entendi a estratégia dele! rsrs Só posso dizer que temos um Saco de Abandono rico em artefatos para safar qualquer um em imprevistos no mar. A Balsa de Salvatagem é uma exigência legal-normativa aos barcos de navegação oceânica, conforme a NORMAN 03. Mas, o fato de estar cumprindo essa exigência não garante que você esteja bem preparado pro imprevisto. Daí nossa motivação para a elaboração de um "Saco de Salvatagem". A NORMAN 03 exige: Rações Sólidas e Líquidas, Sinalizadores, Cobertor, Apito, Canivete, Drogue, Lanterna, Espelho, Esponja, Kit Costura, Kit Pesca, Tesoura, Refletor Radar, Bóia de Salvagem c/ Cabo, Par de Remo, Bomba de Ar e Saco para Coleta de água. Nossa experiência com a Balsa que estava a bordo quando compramos o barco (e que abrimos por curiosidade por ela já estar vencida) foi terrível. Alguns itens eram de péssima qualidade. Encontramos, por exemplo, canivete enferrujado, tesoura quebrada, medicamentos úmidos e muito básicos, pilhas não alcalinas. Atualmente temos uma Balsa nova, encapsulada, que só deve ser aberta na fábrica, por questões de inviolabilidade, cujo fechamento o comandante foi acompanhar in loco. Alguns itens originalmente previstos na Balsa, por força da NORMAN, expiram em pouco tempo (medicamento, fogos de artifício e rações líquida e sólida), o que exige a revisão anual na fábrica, que é cara, trabalhosa e não é feita em qualquer esquina. Em contra -partida o que é estrutural na Balsa tem durabilidade de 10 anos (cilindro e borracha da Balsa propriamente dita). Ou seja, a revisão anual requerida pela NORMAN trata apenas dos itens de validade curta. Então, resolvemos incluir no Saco alguns dos itens constantes na Balsa. Uma tesoura quebrada pode não ser muito útil. Faltar medicamento também não é uma boa. Kit de pesca, kit de reparo e costura, rações, lanterna também são muito importantes se você ficar muito tempo à deriva. Ter esses itens fora da Balsa, no Saco, nos permite o monitoramento constante da validade, uma vez que a Balsa só pode ser aberta na emergência ou pelo fabricante. Nossas pesquisas indicaram que alguns Itens importantes e úteis que não estão previstos na NORMAN 03 também deveriam ser incluídos no Saco. Foram eles: chapéu de aba larga, roupa e calçado para proteção, protetor solar, óleo Johnson, sapatilhas e meias pra proteger o pé, Caladril pra tratar queimaduras de sol, bússola, binóculo, fita adesiva, mais cobertor, na balsa só vem um. Concluindo, todo o investimento que fizemos em reflexões sobre naufrágio resultaram na criação do Saco de Salvatagem, o que nos dá uma certa tranquilidade para desfrutar de estrelas e gaivotas.
